I've been a Pink Floyd fan for 50 years. I feel this one more.
Same...love the original, but this version is on a whole other level.

Well, the original is nostalgic about youth. What it was like when you were young. This version is pure Finnish realism/despair. Terms not mutually exclusive.

I am a PF fan since my early teens (68 y old Dutch bloke) and have seen them several times.
This is not just some cover.
This is the ultimate tribute from an exceptional band to an exceptional band!
The guys of Nightwish are big Floyd fans. I love it that they did not make a 1 to 1 copy, but gave it their own style. a Beautiful tribute.
Yes!! 🔥 I never get tired of watching this epic performance, seeing all the band members so dedicated playing this powerful song. And I say it out loud: even better than the original.

Excellent reaction! Don't worry about the "it's-a-tribute-not-a-cover" police...a cover is a cover, even when it's performed as a tribute. I've been a Pink Floyd fan for many many years and while I love the original, I have to admit I enjoy this version a bit more, and I think Marko's vocals have a. great deal to do with that. You'll find as you delve deeper into Nightwish that he really shines on the songs he sings lead on, or trades vocals back-and-forth with Floor (or Tarja)...he is truly a legend.

This was a Tribute not a cover , this was in 2005
When an artists plays another artist's song, it's a cover. It may be a cover performed as a tribute, but it's still a cover.

This is an extraordinary piece of music. Only a fool covers a Pink Floyd song but then there's the magic of Nightwish. Give a listen to Tarja sing Nemo from this same concert. WOW. How does one band wind up having three world class singers during its history? Truly amazing. Marko not only makes you feel like you have a second heartbeat with his bass lines he kills ya with his vocals, Good Lord

Haunting Keyboard....GREAT Vocals......brillant Guitar Solo...driving drums on point.....this is one of the rare Occasions where I like the Cover better then the already good original.

The four's stoic performance is made even more poignant. When one knows the circumstances of the events that took place that night. As well as the the adverse side effects, that followed soon after.

A cover performed as a tribute is still a cover. Can you provide a source for the Gilmour claim? I have seen this statement many times and, despite hours of searching, I have never even able to find a statement or an interview either in print or on video where Gilmour mentions or is even asked about it. Not saying I don't believe it, but have never been able to find the actual quote or reference.
I said this version had passion. Now you know.
Oh and, Tribute not Cover.
The choice was especially poignant when you know they fired Tarja after this concert.
