This movie is a hard one to judge for me, because I think there are a lot of small things done really well, but a lot of the main plots were weaker than some of the ones in the previous movies. The only sub plot I could really follow and thoroughly enjoy in this movie was the love ark between Diego and Shira.
Okay, I have to be 100% honest, I love the entire franchise of Ice Age. Sure, I understand why people say that the fourth and fifth movie weren't really as good, but in my opinion, they were still really enjoyable for me. So while I have a few notes about what could have been improved, I'm still happy about what did happen.
Nobody could have played Granny like Wanda Sikes.

I saw this film when I was ten years old and when I got home from seeing in the cinema, I cried in the bathroom because I thought that it would be the last one they'd ever make, considering that felt like a satisfying conclusion because like the first one, it had the three guys as the central characters trying so desperately to get home, while the other characters from the second and third films who joined the party, where there to push the philosophical stakes. Of the original four films, it was my least favourite, but I strongly respected what they were doing with it. If it ended with them dying 20,000 years later, I would've loved it even more.

If she sees that comment, then she'll feel better, since Buck was only in the 4th one as a cameo character. Buck and Rudy's cameo was one of my favorite scenes in the 4th movie. She's gonna be so happy when she sees him again in the 5th one.

The 3rd one was the best last Ice Age that came out. I wasn't really impressed with 4 and 5 tbh
While agree the first three are the best, but I actually still liked the last two. They furthered the story, and was/is still fun to watch.
It's true with a lot of Quintilogies, they follow the same pattern being that first 3 movies feel like a book having the beginning, middle, and end. When they make more after the third one, I feel like its just to make more money.

Peaches was in love with Louis, the mole rat|Hedgehog in this movie. In the next, he's not here and she loves a really dumb unfunny mamoth guy. Blue sky just got rid of a likable character and replaced him with a annoying one. Good choice U-U
The pirates are fun. I like them :D The kangaroo and Gutt are cool, Kira is just awesome.... even if she's only here to be with Diego. Why developping an interresting character when you can just make her the love interrest? Thank's producers!

I think the way I see it is throughout our teenage years we fall for people whether good or bad and at the end we end up with someone although not everyone expects it
Louis appears as a cameo and in a comic but I must admit it was weird how they replaced him, almost like they wanted the audience to forget he existed. I found him very likeable.
I have the theory that someone in the direction or production section told the writers that having a hedgehog/ molehog being partner with a giant mammoth was weird and so they changed it. But they did him DIRTY. I wanted him to be happy, even if it was with someone else

Thankfully, my dad realized the sudden change was the meds and had me pulled off then. Back to normal in one week and apologizing to her.
Tough to bring up though because while my dad knew right away it was the meds...MY MOM THOUGHT I MEANT IT.

Granny is a good character… not perfect but good

@@MrNoLen5 To me, Sid wasn't as funny as her, and I'm including all instances in the franchise. Granny was the major comedic relief to me. Though, I wouldn't want Granny to replace Sid, story wise.

I don't know what you're talking about, Granny is the funniest character in this movie. And Master of the Seas is still one of my favorite movie songs.
Something that i've realised is that in EVERY SINGLE MOVIE, each and every mc has gotten a love intrest. That's one thing that i actually dislike in the ice age franchise. I hate that all of them get a love intrest. Why can't they just be friends? Like, it's fine if one of the characters get a love intrest, but every one of them? It just seems like the movie industry are trying to tell us that you need a love intrest to be happy and that boys and girls can't be friends. I am glad that disney for example have started to make the mc love intrest-less and that boys and girls can be friends. Moana and frozen for example. I hope to see more of that in the future with the movie industry.
This is a bit of a stretch. Think about it, they’re all reaching a new chapter in their lives. Crash and Eddie don’t have love interests.

I find it simultaneously confusing and hilarious how like 15 or 16 years have passed between Ice Age 3 and 4 and somehow none of the other characters have aged a day.
If sid was 20 in the first movie he was around 55 in movie 5
Yeah that has always bugged me too - our main herd trio of IA1 is basically "immortal" for all intents and purposes, becos we only see Peaches visibly (and rapidly, in btwn IA3 and IA4) age. It's honestly a bit distracting and I say this as a big Ice Age fan.
The Scrat scenes are funny I think the animators have a lot of fun making them

I just noticed something, Scrat creating the continents makes no sense. In one of the ice age short movies, Ice Age A Mammoth Christmas which was released a year before this movie (in 2011) and the short is clearly a prequel because Peaches was a kid in that short. And we see Earth with the continents in the end of the short. So, it makes no sense.
I think hotel Transylvania would be perfect for you to react to for Halloween spooky but more your style

Yeah, the pirate part of the movie was weak. Like, Ice Age 3 had more pirate in it and it was because of Buck ALONE! And the granny humour... might have been for the kids? Although, I watched the movie as a kid and I had been annoyed at her so, who's to say?

While I don't like this movie as a whole (the flanderization of Crash and Eddie, the plot of the movie being based on a concept more recent than the ice age instead of said concept just being used for a joke, a few jokes, or as a minor plot device at best like in the previous movies, etc.), this is the last Ice Age movie where I can understand why some people like it.

Recently, I watch a lot of videos on CZcams when someone else is watching different movies and cartoons. And I must admit that you are one of the people who watches the best. And since I love your reactions, I would like to ask you to watch the newest Disney & Pixar animation titled "Luca". Ever since I saw this fairy tale for the first time, I just fell in love with it. It is so incredibly moving and so close to my heart. Maybe it's because I see myself in one of the main characters. We have the same problems and we experience them and perceive the world in the same way. This character's name is Alberto. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a friend like Alberto did, but I hope to find the right person someday. Currently, my little dream is to see your reaction to this animation. Personally the first and 4th movies are my favorites. 2 is fine, but I'm in the minority for 3. I found it boring. Buck is cool. But I wasn't torn up not having him around anymore.

Now when I watch these movies, I'm not going to get out of my mind that Sid is just out here making cults...
The magic of the first movies was that the characters were animals with some human perspectives. After the third movies, they became more human and less animal. When animals play parts that could easily be played by people, you lose a lot of the creativity that gave it its charm.
I've only seen the first two but I'd say the first one is the only one where they act the closest to animals. Even in the second one they had their own camps and were using a boat thing. And, while I didn't watch the third movie, I know there's a plot point of Manny building an entire goddamn playground for his kid.
@@smurvin They got away with it in the first three movies, because of the strength of the character personalities and their interactions with each other, but, after that the fact that they were animals was just a facade and had little to do with the animal kingdom. That's where the charm of the original movies was lost.

IA2 began pulling away from the xenofictional cores of IA1 (the animals behaving as animals, with a fear of humans hunting them + the jibes Manny gives towards Diego about his own hunting to keep himself alive) the movies began to suffer. Ironically, there _were_ plans to bring the little baby, Roshan, back as early as IA2 but this was scrapped becos Blue Sky's producer, Lori Forte, felt it was "too predictable" and made up nonsensical reasons for why he couldn't come back. If they had kept the baby/humans as a part of the series I strongly believe the charm of IA1 wouldn't have been lost + the sequels might've elevated IA1 by being even better. But alas we got these more comedic, not-acting-as-if-the-Original-movie-mattered sequels instead. :(

I love this movie, while I feel like the series could have ended after the third one, this felt like a nice bonus/epilogue, but we just had to have Collision Course 🙄 and Adventures of Buck Wilde but at least that’s it’s own stand alone thing
