I completely agree the need a 3C. We may need to move salary though as Dewar has Arb rights and Robertson if signing will likely be 1.5. Few options I was thinking:
    CBJ. Boone Jenner
    SJS Nico Sturm
    Flyers: Scott Laughton
However don't think this year going to be any better when 53% cap is in the top 4. And will be very annoyed if marner walks. Dubas created so much privilage giving them nmc final year and over paying based of future cap not having 7 to 8 year contracts.

Well Colton or Frost would certainly be make the center position look a little better as both are credible to fill at 2C on an as needed basis. If you don't want Domi playing center then an injury to Tavares or Matthews makes the team very weak down the middle.

Id be totally down for Ross Colton. I lie even more that hes cost controlled for another 3 seasons. That could be a VERY good contract when the cap is up around 96-98M Tavares is off the books. It would look EVEN better if the leafs could swing a 3 team trade. Maybe not to retain 50% of coltons contract but perhaps something like 35% of Coltons contract. That lays it right in among Kampfs number around 2.4M. Perhaps The leafs decide to \send a guy like Kampf and Robertson +2nd to Colorado for Colton and then get a third team like Anaheim to retain 35%and send them a pick or a prospect or apick or a prospect. To me that would be an ideal scenerio that would make this team infinitely better.

I think Robertson is staying and getting 10-15 games in a top 6 role to start the season as a show me. That brings knies or McMann to the third line with Kamf or Homberg and Nylander. That's fine to get us in the playoffs and gives us room for Cowan and Minten to get a chance. We can look at more offense from 3C at the deadline. I think McMann, Robertson and Knies are all 20+ goal scorers, with Robertson on Marner's line he could get 30+. We will be fine offensively.

Does any of this actually matter? They can’t win with this core or cap structure. The Cup window effectively closed when Mitch signed his contract the last time. Constantly trading away what little depth they have. It’s not just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic, it’s throwing a couple over board thinking it’ll keep the ship from hitting the iceberg.
The old window is over. A new could open for the 2025-2026 season, only if they walk away from both JT and Mitch.

Nonsense. The Leafs addressed their key weaknesses. Playing elite defensive teams with elite top of the league goaltending playoff contenders every year is why the team struggles to score in post season. The Leafs went with piss poor goaltending every year and that’s why they lost every series. Defense was addressed as well. The forwards are fine, good enough to get to SC final. They can also add at deadline if needed for a 3C. There’s a reason the Leafs finish near the top of the league in points every year. They are a strong team but their goaltending has been finally fixed this year.

Since 2023 trade deadline I took a lot of criticism for suggesting they get Domi from Chicago then Dallas because the way he was feeding Kane showed he'd be a perfect fit for Matthews then allowing Marner to stay with Tavares. It's hilarious how many of you Leaf speculators are now putting Domi on his own line as a centerman, totally disregarding what he was brought in for. McMann also showed last year he works well with Matthews.
There is no free agents at the skill level or production level of Marner and Tavers so to some you're just yakking to have enough to make a longer show. Rid yourself of those two players then expect to be below Ottawa and Buffalo in the standings. Ottawa the last 2 years drooled over the talent available in free agency and look what that got them. The only way this team improves is by getting better 1.5 to 3 million dollar players than the ones they have.

lets be real, David Kampf is worth every penny he makes, the NHL salary comparatively to any other league is a joke. Not to mention the disparity of salary differences from line to line, the top guys deserve what they make, but it takes away from what we consider "acceptable" for our bottom line guys.

you can shuffle these little guys all you want, when your money is tied up in a few players who dont care for anything but their money, this team is going to see the same results. Keep Marner? this coming year is another round 1 throw away.

I agree...I feel like getting rid of Kampf allows him to turn into another Zack Hyman situation...I'm not saying Kampf is gonna produce like Hyman did for the Oilers this year, but I think Kampf is under-rated like Hyman was with the Leafs.
