  • Let It Be Me by The Everly Brothers, one of the greatest love songs of all time and definitely my favourite.
It’s simply a stunning song, written by French composer Gilbert Bécaud as “Je t'appartiens” and famously translated into English by Phil and Don.
I say this a lot; I’ve been trying to cover this for years but this really was a labour of love getting this right. The fact that I’m pleased enough with any version to get it out is a miracle in itself. I’ve had more failed attempt at this one than all the others combined. I just had to get it right tho, I love the song so much.
My love for Phil and Don was solidified the first time I saw them perform this on the concert film “Everly Brothers Reunion Concert” from the royal Albert hall in London. It’s an amazing show and that song is the centre piece for me. The interaction between the two brothers when performing it is stunning. There’s a moment in the second verse where Don is singing solo and Phil is just looking at him with pure adulation. Their well documented differences aside for that moment, you could tell they were glad they reunited.
It’s unfashionable to say that the Everly Brothers are one of your favourite bands but they’ve been one of mine since I first got into music at a very young age thanks to my dad. The absolute best.
    Thank you for listening
