i picked up a all alum. olds 215 v8 complete motor for the most part about 3 weeks ago that was stuck from sitting on a damp concrete garage floor for 40+ years without a drop of oil in it. in the process of tearing it down i found that it had been rebuild and never run, i think it may have been someones 1st attempt at rebuilding a motor. as of tonight i got out three pistons on one bank without any damage to any of the parts, the other bank is soaking and i will get out more tomorrow. there is some bad pitting in the cylinder walls, i am hoping that a boring job will clean them up, if the pitting is to deep i am hoping that it can be resleeved. i have a tiny rust free import car that i have kept stored for over 40 years, i have always dreamed of pro-streeting it and this would be a great motor to put in it. if it is not rebuildable i will polish it up and make it into a coffee table for the mancave, or buy another block that's good.

Even at a tiny 215 CI Still has that deep authoritative V8 sound...

Pretty sure that the sound has more to do with the cam profile than the displacement of the cylinders.

I know this engine in the Rover 3.5 V8 version. The Rover company and Land Rover used them in all sorts, it is a engine that eats camshafts if not maintained right but a slow engine gets more HP by changing the camshaft for the Rover 3.9 version. It might be useful to shop for parts in the UK, it seems cheaper here.

Love it. Just picked up a NOS motor been sitting since 64 under this old mans bench. I don't want to use it as it's never been run. So I'm going to get another..

      @@BuzzLOLOL The 1071cc Mini Cooper S bettered that in 1963, producing 70bhp from 65ci.
And that used a 5 port cylinder head!
Cheap fuel held the Yanks back over half a century, on European engine developments.
