Carnie Wilson is an incredibly TALENTED MUSICIAN and VOCALIST and BEAUTIFUL inside and out!!! Seriously stunningly gorgeous.
Well, everybody has a fetish 😂
I bought their first CD and loved it so much. Time passes by so quickly. It is 30 years ago!
It was unfortunate that their popularity nosedived very quickly. Give It Up should have been a hit! Their harmonising is one of a kind!
The harmonys are crazy good, always!
IM A WILSON PHILIPS FAN!!! but i only love their first 2 albums. hi hi hi and i have tapes and cds hi hi hi I LOVE YOU @CARNIE WILSON!!!
I had this on VHS and loooooooved it - so great to see it 25 years later.
i have this in LASER DISC, i bought it from a japan surplus and coverted it to a VCD
They are all just as beautiful working hard in the studio
All very talented and they listen to each other when singing. I love the Beach Boys and The Mamas and The Papas. WOW!
Soooo happy to find this!! My 6th grade self is jumping for joy (who am I kidding, jumping for joy now)! I had this on VHS too!
I feel you 😀
Just Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!
I was 20 when this album came out. I loved it. I loved the production -- i thought it was more glossy and sophisticated than their debut. I thought their singing was better on this one. Of course, now i realize how dark some of the songs are. Maybe that scared people off. But i liked all the songs. And their "new look" in the video for YOU WON'T SEE ME CRY -- I think people were like, WTF?! I liked the lingerie and the wigs and the drama of it. I would have followed them through any changes, but some people don't like change. Of course, the landscape of music was changing, too. Mainly, i think they released the wrong singles, or released them in the wrong order. GIVE IT UP should have been the first single. It's light, fun, bouncy. Maybe YOU WON'T SEE ME CRY second-- it's still a beautiful ballad, like RELEASE ME. I would not have released FLESH AND BLOOD as a single. It's too depressing for radio. Maybe the third single should have been IT'S ONLY LIFE or FUELED FOR HOUSTON. That would have made 4 solid singles. But who knows? A lot of factors involved. I love their recent Harry Styles cover. I just wish they would write and record NEW material.
Definitely more sophisticated. I also loved the production and arrangements allowed each singer's individual vocal qualities to emerge more in the mixes. I think the single choices were wrong as well. I would have led with "Give It Up," and then "Don't Bring Me Down," but I know that's two Wendy songs. I just think the Wendy songs were the strongest ones on this album (including "Alone"). I remember talking with the senior editor at the music mag where I worked when the album came out and his suspicion about its failure was that people likely thought they had already heard WP and this was just more of the same. I guess you had to be a fan to hear the difference. I'm not convinced he was correct, but it's one theory anyway.
I definitely hear a difference from their debut. I hear growth, musically and vocally. I just think maybe the songs weren't radio friendly like the songs on their debut. It makes you wonder what might have happened if they hadn't disbanded so quickly and tried again in 1994. I know it sounds sexist but most Girl Groups don't last. And I agree with you about the songs featuring Wendy. They were all strong.
I love them and met them. I have all their albums and singles. Even during their separated moments. I have their albums and the singles as well. Glad that they have signed all my CDs and I was sad because the Music Book I bought they signed was damaged by termites… 😢
I really love this album !! My father died Suddenly in the summer of 1992. I was only 12 years old . One of my elder siblings bought the album. The song flesh & blood as a very special meaning in my heart.
I really am so very sorry for your extremely pain loss. I really hope that you are getting through that very hard time.
Wendy has a very unique sultry voice.
What's the thing w/ the doggie being dropped off ? Carnie looks like she ripped the pooch off, felt guilty about it, and then made restitution to the real owner. I like the quick shot w/ Wendy running away from the guy when he opens the door and peeks in. Whoa....I hadn't seen this video since it was released all those years ago.....memory lane time. Nice to see it again.
18:23 Carnie is one of my favorite altos. Gorgeous smooth tone. She made me a better vocalist
THANK YOU MR @AARON !!!
Thanks for posting this video. Really love WP.....still listening this album Shadows and Light.Hello from Japan.
All three, chynna,Wendy and sarnie are such beautiful and extremely talented young women. And I have always been a big fan. I really wish I could meet then someday. I really wish all three of them and their families nothing but the very best for the rest of their lives.
THE ALBUM SHADOWS AND LIGHT IS WHERE YOU WILL KNOW THE GIRLS AND WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH. THIS IS THE BEST WILSON PHILIPS ALBUM... FOR ME..
Carnie Wilson is definitely Brian Wilson’s daughter. She not only looks like him but has a great ear for music and vocal harmonies. This album is real good.
I wish it had been as popular as the first one. It's a really solid sophomore effort, with only one or two clunkers ("Fueled for Houston," and "Goodbye Carmen" aren't my favorites lol).
Hey, I think the same.Carnie is her father in female.
@@AaronClow Touche🥰
@@AaronClow Yeh. So underrated album. Flesh and blood, goodbye Carmen, You won’t see me cry. Etc. Tons of beautiful songs!!!
@@AaronClow ohh I forgot. This doesn’t have to be love.
They were so good, but grunge and dance music were taking over at the time of this album. The first album was awesome.
This is so great!
The lyrics, the harmonies.... I love every single song from your albums
I still have the on VHS!!! I transfered it to DVD!!
Absolutely no doubt about it my favorite R/B group of the 90's TLC is the best 👍👍🎧🎵
thank you for this video :) I always thought Shadows n Light is a good album as well, but the first single should have 'Dont Take Me Down', to introduce the mature sounds of WP. Still a classic 90s staple ;)
I totally agree!
Aaron, dude, you have made me SO happy with this video! I had the VHS as a kid but it got thrown away with a bunch of other tapes during a move. I have waited years to see this again! My 12 year old former self thanks you! 😃👍
You're sooo welcome! So glad you found it! 😃
I love Wendy :)
*** I *** love Wendy
She is so sweet and kind
Sweet Moment, Sweet Memory back the years with their songs.. Love You all Forever WP.. Keep Singing & keep Shining for Us your Fans.. God Bless You All WP #fromIndonesiawithLove
I bought this video tape before... it was a great memory...I listen to their songs repeatedly these 30 years..
Oh my God! I had this VHS tape! I got it at target back in 1992 D92 wind shadows and light was released. II still have it
I love this, I also had the VHS. I'd love it on DVD some day.
i have this in a laserdisc then converted it to VCD
Talented beyond! They can dissect a song from melody, lyrics, and harmonies. They’re so amazing. I wish for new material. So even then Chynna was spiritual; Carnie hilarious and Wendy just so sweet. New songs please! Collaborate with Ed Sheeran, the Beebs, Yeezy... use your connections. Remix some of the legacy stuff with some of the mainstream DJs with like Over and over, Ooh You’re Gold... so many. Go-Go’s x Bangles x WP
Flesh and blood must have been a really hard song to sing and record. I really hope and wish all of them and their families nothing but the best.
I love all three of these beautiful young women. I really do wish them all nothing but the best.
Beautiful voices, amazing songs. A Wilson Phillips fan from Spain
I had this on VHS! Thanks so much for posting.
I still have a VHS tape of this but it doesn't play anymore. Thanks for sharing this.
Chynna, wow, what a body, Baldwin is really a lucky guy!
yeah lucky they still together, i dont know if im ryt, they filed for divorce before, im not sure if its true
I loved shadows and lights but I wished they opened up with an uptempo song like Hold On. The songs are too sad and dark but still loved the way they harmonized on this album.
I had this VHS tape years ago. Brings back memories. Thanks for sharing.
love them
Thank you so much for posting this!!!
I was the DP and Editor for this documentary OMG I have not seen this is 30 years! I have an AI program that cleans up footage (Topaz). Do you have a copy better than this? A VHS or Hi8 lol. Amazing you have this. Thank you. If you have I will pay for it at a place of your choice, I just want to put it on my archive show reel ;)
Hey! Send me an email at youtube@tiserves.com and I'll reply back with my real email. Would love to chat with you. I do have the original VHS and would be happy to send it to you. Cheers!! (and thanks for all the work you did on this!)
Shadows and Light was just not like their first album. And it's a shame because they really had some stories to tell. But for radio a lot of the songs just were not going to make it. I wish they would make another album of their own music because many fans truly appreciated it, even if the general radio audience didn't think it was catchy enough.
Thanks for uploading this. I always love the behind the scenes making of an album. Too bad that the bond they had with each other started to break apart. Even Chynna admitted on her California Preaching CZcams channel in a video that they broke up because they didn't treat each other the way they did when they first formed. I get the feeling that it was more between Chynna and Carnie. When Chynna was offered $1 million to record a solo album she left. The thing about Chynnas voice is it just doesn't work as a standalone voice. It's great in collaboration with Wendy and Carnie but not solo. It's too "light". Not that she doesn't have a good voice.
I agree with you 100% on Chynna. Although I liked her solo album, she definitely doesn't have a "strong" voice. It works so well in the ensemble though with Carnie & Wendy though, as we know. Cheers!
Chynna hot. Her solo album was good she has the best voice.
I think Chynna has the strongest voice of all of them and I loved her solo album. I think Wendy has the weakest, most shallow voice of the three. She sounds like she doesn't sing from the diaphragm, it's very breathy and nasal. I heard that the nose job she had as a teen didn't come out well and caused her problems. I think Chynna's voice is more strident and she tends to belt it out really well, where as Carnie's voice is more soft and powdery, she's the soothing sound in the group.
Voices.
Carnie is the best
Interesting video. Pity they broke up months after this was released
Michael bay, the dude who made a name for over the top action movies in Transformers franchise lose some street cred lol
LOL
but according to the girls they didnt like for them sing in their langeries. they felt violated...
Wilson philips is the epitomè of what you called girl group. They all equally singing with same amount of exposure and moment. No one is over shadowing the other. See pussycat dolls. All i see is nicole. And those girls are just extremely back ups!. So disappointing.
As a fan, i was hoping and cheering that this album would be another great success but deep down i knew that i am barely connected to the songs in this CD. It was just too much, too personal. The songs were just not relatable at all.
It certainly was less "universal," but I think if someone identified with a song or two, it could be just as impactful. I happened to love the Wendy songs more - "Don't Bring Me Down" and "Alone." I also appreciated that there seemed to be more of an attempt to highlight the individual quality of each person's voice in the production and use each to its strength rather than just mixing them all together equally. But there really are a couple clunkers on this album, whereas the first one was pretty strong song-to-song.
