I switched to pc from ps5 and can tell you that once you do it you won’t come back. The input lag on console is bad. One thing I will say is you’ll have to get used to timing super jumps and super glides because if that.

I stopped tap strafing last year, but i tested it out even antimicro doesnt work anymore.
An example of ‘this is why we can’t have nice things’. People took the configs way too far and they had to do something else this game would have become an absolute dumpster fire. I started playing Apex in season 4 using a controller and learned MnK on it because I didn’t want to play at a disadvantage. At that point it was the superior input in every way. No tap strafing yet and no Steam. The only advantage controller players had were the strike packs and aim assist, and no one thought it was overpowered. Today, controller players have gained a huge reputation as cheaters because of these types of exploits. I agree that tap strafing should be available on controller but going further and building these types of macros would have destroyed the competitive integrity of the game and it would have further added to the issues people have and finally affected EAs bottom line.
Its so simple they just have to add an ingame controller tap strafe button option for you to choose

I agree tap staffing at the moment is so op bc people are so used to the movements that taking that away give controllers players a hella disadvantage. I think the movement in this game is honestly the best advantage by far, they should honestly add it to the game.
I used to play controller and now mnk, tap strafing should be allowed for controller. All the other ones are so annoying and mnk users abuse them like neo strafing. The thing i dont get is how Respawn says configs in comp is not allowed but casuals its all good. You can also tell who uses them as configs are too fast

One of my friends got his controller to register as a mnk on steam somehow so he keeps the tapstrafing but loses aim assist. This update is kinda weird since configs aren't banned but tapstrafing is

the crazy thing is that all the other configs like the insta armour swap and insta pick up still work. its only the tap strafing thats disabled. they couldn't even fix the config problem right

Was so cringe I could not stop laughing. Pro players don't even tap strafe when they are playing ALGS. Lurch is more important than tap strafing but how would district know that if he is a controller player. He should stick to what he knows which is 1 clipping.

Respawn absolutely could. Theyre a decent developer as far as their capability is concerned, think of how difficult it must be for them to code all the aiming mathematics, all the movement math, and all the variables that happen in pubs matches, ring closures, storm tick damages, different legends abilities, limited time modes etc.
They could implement code into the game to have a basic tap strafe bind, kinda how steam used to allow you to do, but they do it on their end... after all, steam is a third party software.
Theres nothing stopping them from implementing it into console, as respawn would have total control and moderation over it by default, seeing as you literally cant have 3rd party intervention on console.
Makes me wander why they havent done so to be honest!

Console controller never had any way to tapstrafe since day one, because it doesnt recognise keyboard inputs, and doesnt have steam as an interface to do that.
Its well within their capabilities. Console folk dont realise the fun and skill gap theyre missing out on.

@@ThatOneRandomGamer3_16 No because we dont need third party programs to do it, also roller has aim assist which more than covers for no tapstrafe, as proof there are mnk pros swapping to roller even though they cannot use any configs, still they trade all their years of experience on mnk + all the movement techs, just for aim assist.
And maybe Im wrong but I've personally never heard about a top roller pro switching from roller to mnk to be able to tap strafe on lan lmao so that should be enough to know what is stronger.

From what I have observed the commands are still being sent by the controller but are being ignored in the game client; like if I just stand there and press in and up on my left thumb stick you can see the player lurching forward.
My hope is that this was the only way they could quickly implement a stop-gap to mitigate the abuse that has been plaguing Apex, and that more nuanced measures can be put in place that will curb abuse but still facilitate advanced movement techniques for both inputs. I'll be attempting to wait patiently in hopes of good news on the matter from Respawn in the near future.

WHAT if u rebind ur w,a,s,d to like diffent keys in the game then go in steam layout and bind ur tap strafe to thoes binds?
Agree to disagree. I play both inputs pretty well. Controller still op when it matters. All the movement tech MNK players use doesn’t translate as much in games when it matters. The only thing I think is broken is AA. Hence why I stuck with roller. If it is slightly nerfed, that would be a better balance between both inputs kind of link what the finals did.
MnK should always take precedence. You kids will learn one day.

dude pros are switching to controller for PRO LEAUGE because you win ALGS by making it to the end where fights typically happen up close. you're not seeing streamers who only play ranked and pubs switch to MnK though. again.... because pro league is totally dif from just normal apex

no matter the gamemode close range fights always dictate who wins the game, always have and always will so as long as controller has 40% advantage it’ll always be “the single most broken thing” in the game
They are clearly detecting controller inputs entering in a directional key in rapid succession even for a short burst. They don't care about hold to repeat turbo for any action just directional actions.

i hopped on some solo ranked today, i swear it felt like a different game, i was running it down in master/pred lobbies and i dont even feel like i was playing that good on 4 hours sleep, at first i was missing my roller tap strafe, but after a ranked grind im fine with not having it, cos the game feels so much easier without everyone using all these configs
but realistically should someone on 4 hours of sleep compete in pred 😭. Glad you like the changes bro bro

I heavily respect you for your last comment, that you are not giving up the game. We do not know if things will change and as an MnK player, I am curious to how this will effect my games. Even with the CFG's getting removed, still think aim assist is still broken af and I feel nothing will change in my lobbies. I can do the super gliding and tap strafing and still get one clipped by a level 20 player on roller with no CFG's. But I am curious to how this will play out. The only people this will really effect are streamers, pros, and top ranked players. 90% of controller players do not use CFG's at all, so nothing changed for them.
So if there are all the benefits from playing on MnK, why do you choose to play on controller?

Personally i enjoy aiming with roller but I usually dont use aim assist either im weird that way
Apex have rather slow sensitivity on roller 500 degrees per second but The non alc max sens is slight higher but lower than 700 degrees needs further testing tho
Anything lower than 500 dps sens ins unplayable for me even on linear

i think they also removed the ablility to manually lower fps to get easier superglides
There’s a way to lower it in settings
superglide cfg also dont work no more im guessing
I use steam config to enable Gyro on controller+pc. The change didn’t seem to affect my layouts so not super sure what they actually did here to remove tap strafing.
I have some mnk experience so I’m making the full switch to mnk even if they somehow gave controller players the option to tap strafe. It’s gonna be a learning curve but I know it’ll click sooner or later.

im just gonna say it, yes we have jitter aiming but one thing with jitter aiming is carpal inducing. I was on roller on 2 yrs ago, I made the swap for the whole reason of all the thing that you listed.

It’s a good thing they got rid of it for controller. Controller gets aim assist for inhuman aim, keyboard gets movement for movement not possible for controller. Balanced as it should be.

not really swapping while holstered but you can swap to whatever weapon you want by pressing 1, 2, or 3

I’ve played controller forever switch to mnk recently and it is a big change I did config superglides because it is impossible to be consistent on my cheap keyboard because of how it reads inputs and that is gone now the most I dropped in damage on controller was just above 6k and the most I’ve gotten on mnk is 3.5k it is not as easy as many would think their are ups and downs to both inputs but strafing on a controller is much easier while having aim assist so I believe it is at a fair point that players need to choose their play styles or make the switch unfortunately but neither are just a pick up and play especially in apex

If you're talking about cnfgs then I agree with you but if you mean tap strafing then I think you should either have aim assist or tap strafing and not both unless you wanna give it to both inputs

tested it out earlier: controller players CAN still tap strafe through steam by remapping their input to key inputs. easy fix is for players on each controller brand to make and publicize templates. you don’t get AA, but this is where gyro controllers shine.
all they did was remove the lurch window when a controller input is detected. if respawn really wants to remove the tech from controller players they’ll have to completely block steam edits

Why was it only controller and not mouse and keyboard?
Configs were changed for both mnk and controller. The controller specific change was to lurches, which was hopefully just made while they figure out how to deal with neostrafing without removing tap strafing for roller.
4:50 if you are playing on console, you don't have PC player enemies. If you play on PC and decide to purposfully use controller, you are accepting to sacrifice movement for aim assist.
If you choose to play on controller instead of MnK when you're on PC, because you want BOTH then you're just greedy and a cheater, since this is basically cheating.
Press a button to consistently do multiple actions perfectly without any effort like neo-strafing, super glides, tap strafes, 180's etc.
You can still super glide on controller so its not all that bad

you can very easily reload on doors and knocked teammates by making tap to interact/hold to reload IN THE CONTROLLER TAB

As a controller player who like to play with that setting in pubs (I was never a big ranked grinder)- its whatever. Sucks I cant have as much fun with movement but, at the end of the day as far as pc goes mnk will always be on top for movement. It was only a matter of time before they decided to get rid of it

aim assist out weighs any movement tech anyday. ask any pro what they would take tap strafe or aim assist.

After a full year off Apex i decided to get back into it. Within minutes i coudlnt figure out why Tap strafe was wokring. After 1 hr i got off ao i could fix it. The clunkiness of movement bothered me. Then i found this video and i think i will not returnng after 1000s of hours in the past. Rip Apex

I’m a controller player , just wanted to say this season has been BRUTAL. I love the new changes with armor and everything, but there’s no casuals in pubs anymore. I always get squad wiped by 3 stacked masters and end up not being able to play the game. Doesn’t help the fact that everything about controller gets nerfed and mouse and keyboard remains unchanged
