This concept is actually really cool! Would love to see more rom hacks do these types of puzzles as they are more interesting than ice/strength puzzles. Nice vid!
Couldn't agree more! Puzzle battles are so sick as a concept and I hope to see more of them.
I think that pokemon vr missions has similar fight, I haven't played it though.
I found one, send out aron to use stealth rock then it dies, send out gible so rough skin kills the first Shedinja then send out skarmory and use drill peck on the last Shedinja
@@jackdwoods2009 that's one way you could also use skarmory to set stealth rocks or spikes sacrifice skarmory to get Aron in then use roar it wil go through all but the last Shedinja with the heavy-duty boots? Then switch gible in and you win with Aron on 1HP

If you're like me and you just hate videos.. here you go.
School Teacher for Poke Vial - Viridian(Puzzle 1):
-Skarmory, Aron, Gible.
-Send in Skarmory, Stealth Rock or Spike.
-Swap to Aron, Roar until the Heavy Duty Boots Shedinja comes out (the one that doesn't die to spike).
-Swap to Gible and it dies to Rough Skin.
Move Learner - Cerulean (Puzzle 2):
-Buneary 1st, Phanpy/Fletchling as 2nd/3rd
-Fake out with Buneary, then drain punch. (aron dies)
-Send in Phanpy on the Pikachu and just Earthquake (pikachu dies), then Ice Shard to chip on Gastly. (Phanpy dies)
-Send in Fletchling, Brave Bird and kill Gastly. Brave Bird and kill the Skorupi then hard switch to Buneary.
-Fake Out with Buneary, followed by Return (timburr dies). Use Healing wish when Larvesta comes in, swap to Fletchling. Brave Bird and win.
Egg Moves - Fuchsia (Puzzle 3):
-Magmar
-Nincada
-Gallade
-Komala

These were hard to figure out to be honest, but I did it myself somehow, I still appreciate this video because I recently got 2 friends into this hack and the problem is that they don't speak inglish.

Your alternate solution at 2:03 is the one I found in game, but the final shedinja smashes straight through the sturdy skarmory with shadow sneak, so I came looking for this video to find if that were part of the puzzle or not. I think it's a bug.

I figured the first one out on my own; Lead Aron which will survive the first turn with Sturdy and set up Stealth Rocks. Then switch in Gible as a martyr so the first Shedinja goes down to Rough Skin and then Sturdy Drill Peck the final one with Skarmory. It took a few tries as Skarmory's Sturdy did not always work on the last one but eventually I got it to.
The second one was harder and the third impossible because I only know like 2 cries so I needed this vid. '^_^. Thanx a bunch.

Btw for the sandshrew race I'd reccomend slowing down your game if your game can still run smoothly while doing so, or alternatively just cheating with walk through wall hacks(could mess up your save but I did it just for the puzzle and my save is fine) because the sandshrew race requires pixel perfect movement and takes very long.

This is how I beaten the Sandshrew race, there's no way I would successfully do that in fast forward, so doing it on a slower speed (preferably the normal speed works immensely)

Interestingly enough, when I use Roar, it does not cause the opposing pokemon to faint bc of Rocks or Spikes

I've actually never seen that way to do Battle Puzzle #2
I use Buneary, Fletchling, Anorith
I start with Buneary, fake out drain punch on Aron, Return on Pikachu (little bit of RNG cause it uses Thunderbolt sometimes)
sack Buneary on Gastly and swap into Fletchling to use Brave Bird on Gastly, Skorupi and Timburr (it dies to recoil)
and then use Anorith to use Rock Slide to kill the Larvesta
that works too! just less consistent
This doesn't work on 3.01, Return doesn't kill the Pikachu and it doesn't die to recoil from VT
I think the intended strategy is Buneary, Phanpy and Fletchinder:
1: Buneary Fake Out
2: B. Drain Punch
3: Switch to Phanpy
4: P. EQ
5: P. Ice Shard
6: Send out Fletchinder, Brave Bird
7: F. BB again
8: Switch to Buneary
9: B. Fake Out
10: B. Return
11: B. Healing Wish
12: Send out Fletchinder, Brave Bird
This is consistent.
@@bluegum6438 In my case the bunerary did woudn't have survived another ice punch, so I had to omit the return and go for the healing wish right after the fake out, but I won regardless.

I think the battle in cerulean got changed. Either I outsped Pikachu or it doesn't know freezy frost, because I beat Gastly and Skorupi with Phanpy and then beat Timbur and Larvesta with brave bird
For the move relearner I use buneary but I switch the item with phanpy so I get the sash and pika use volt tackle I oko it with drain then gastly enter and I sack it and I click bb for gastly and skorupi and then I finish with anorith
Whatever works for you! There's also an anorith solution for this puzzle

Pretty sure I used fake out + healing wish against Timburr and then Fletchling lived on literally 1HP after recoil against Larvesta

Hey do you know if the one island battle simulator is bugged ?after 1st time of getting 10 wins (get 5 bp bonus) the next attempt I don't get it but sometimes I do get the bonus

I tried the roar strat for the first puzzle in 4.0 and it doesn't work for some reason. Second strat still works tho.
There's another way to do the first puzzle in 4.0 (normal difficulty)
1) Gible - Swap its held item with Fletchings Focus Sash.
2) Choose any Pokemon that you want. It won't be participating but you need it to win.
3) Gible uses Stealth Rock and lives on 1 due to Focus Sash. The opposing Shedinja dies to Rough Skin. The next 4 will die to the Stealth Rocks and the final one dies to Rough Skin when it attacks the Gible
i forgot what i did but i led with mienfoo, then anorith, then fletchling.
mienfoo killed aron, anorith killed pikachu, then i forgot what happened but fletchling pretty much killed everyone else.
that works! you can also use sash buneary as a lead

Funny enough aron into gibble into skarmory doesn't work bc skarmorys sturdy doesn't proc when it's the last pokemon. Even with focus sash skarmorys dies from one hit. Idk why

Thats what keeps happening to me. You should be able to clear it with aaron, gible and fletchling but the focus sash on fletchling doesnt activate against the last shedinja for some reason. Pretty stupid that you absolutely need to do it the way the dev intended or else the AI just cheats ...

Viridian Puzzle is bugged on 3.1, and this solution no longer works. SOLUTION:
Lead Skarmory, setup hazards and die.
Swap to Aron, and Roar.
Swap OUT to Gible, who kills last one with Rough Skin.
