Pokemon Radical Red Elite 4 Solo: Charizard

- Minimal grinding mode is almost certainly necessary as you swap from a special set to physical after lorelei.
Cursed lorelei fight. Was originally using rock slide instead of substitute and hoping for flinches, but after realizing azumarill's liquidation won't break the sub I swapped to this more "consistent" strategy.
For the rest of the fights I actually have two versions recorded, the one not shown contains more ancient power sweeping so it is possible to stay with that if you enjoy gambling. For Chuck the ancient power set works better against his infernape team, easier with the version in the video though.
Agatha was trickier to figure out but ultimately just accpeting being paralyzed and using enough flame charges to outspeed and hope for not being full para'd was the key. Ancient power needs two successful activations for Agatha and you run substitute to block the thunder wave.
Lance is mainly about not getting crit or missing will'o'wisp. Ancient power set works better against Aerodactyl team but needs the first stone edge to miss.
Champ is far easier without ancient power so I never bothered with it. Delayed mega evolution so Groudon goes for stone edge instead of precipice blades (has 5% less accuracy and getting hit isn't a guaranteed loss). Hope for flinch or miss, but if stone edge does hit you can still win if yveltal doesn't suckerpunch and you hit the rock slide flinch on pheremosa later.

I can relate to this since I (almost) solo'd Pokemon Insurgence with Delta Charizard. Leftovers for the leveling and Delta-Charizardnite for the tough battles. You've got yourself a well deserved sub.
Lance fight also works with Rock Tomb in case anyone else forgot the TM like me.
swords dance, uturns into groudon, mega swords dance, groudon misses stone edge, DRAGON dance - groudon switches into yvetal -then just rock tomb/whatever the most effective move is and it'll carry you through.

when I restart the game it seems the RNG stays the same? like whatever misses still misses. How do I save/load/restart to guarantee omni boosts?
That'll happen if you use savestates. Save normally through the Start menu like in a normal pokemon game then reset the emulator.
What is the strongest fake mega evolution in your opinion??
I trying Rain Team with Machamp but Calyrex i very painful i must correct my team .
I found Centiskortch to be the strongest personally, usually with Coil/leech life/fire lash or flame charge and can solo the E4 with omni-boosts from Silverwind. Wouldn't really work too well in a rain team though. For Hardcore I liked Kingler a lot and that would easily fix your Calyrex problem.

How necessary are the ancient power boosts to win against Lorelei?
With this strat mandatory. Need 2 boosts for the def for substitute to survive liquidation, 2 spa atk boosts for solarbeam to ohko, need the speed boost turn 1 to outspeed the ninetales to prevent hail and to later outspeed rotom while paralyzed etc.
You probably can run a pure physical set with dragon dance + Rock slide and just flinch both pokemon 10+ times in a row but that is far more unlikely than the ancient power boosts. Maybe add in thunderpunch and just hope thunder wave or hydro pump from rotom misses.
An option that I couldn't find a good way to do would be to leave glaceon alone under sun and have it keep missing blizzard while focusing down the other pokemon. Maybe run fire lash, thunderpunch, dragon dance and rock slide. Even still this requires lots of RNG with glaceon missing. Hopefully there is a way with less RNG but I can't think of it at the moment.
This is wht I wanted, a solo with charizard. BUT the problem is one. How did you learn substitute to charizard?
Substitute is a TM, you can get it from the Bug Catcher in Fuchsia City, he's standing next to the Kangaskhan.
My charizard doesn't set the sun when mega evolves, what's happening? (I'm on the current version and I tried everything, even downloading from other sources but it didn't work).
Are you playing on hardcore or restricted mode? The Drought ability is banned in both of those.

What difficulty are you playing on? If you're on hardcore you cannot get a psychic seed from wild pokemon until after you beat Koga. If you're not on HC it should still be able to drop from exeggcute/dottler/orbeetle.
I’m using Radical Red 3.0 and for the first fight idk if it’s just rng but my charizard takes way to much damage from the glacion and then sometimes when I get lucky after that my substitute fades before I can use a move I’m also play on minimal grinding mode any help
I don't think anything important changed with 3.0 for this run. Mostly comes down to get the omniboosts from ancient power. It takes a huge amount of luck to get through Lorelei, need one of the blizzards to miss as well as 2x omniboosts. I'd recommend bringing another pokemon to help with lorelei and just solo the rest with charizard.
Actually thinking about it, 3.0 did remove over levelling the cap and that will change a lot of the damage calcs, this may not work anymore

You can't anymore. You previously could use rare candies to level slightly above the cap.

How did you get charizard to lv88. Mine is 85 and i cant use rare candy cause of the lvl cap
You could only do that in previous versions of the game, since v3.0 85 is the max level unless you play on Easy mode.

@@loopy1734 It should still work but the big difference will be Agatha. Zoroark will outspeed and taunt before you can dragon dance, you might need to rely on ancient power omniboosts for that fight too. I haven't done all the calcs so something else might be broken but that is the only major one I immediately see.

Oh nice I hadn't seen that before, that lorelei strat was smart but now that she's a doubles battle it is definitely more of a pain. The AI reading the mega evolution and always going for earthquake made for some easy setups, nice vid.
Well if you do still get around to remaking it I'd like to see it, see if there is a better way to get through Lorelei at least without relying on ancient power cheese.

Probably not. I needed to be 88 to outspeed Agatha's Zoroark turn 1 to setup before the taunt. Can't go over the level cap anymore. The AI is a lot different now and the teams are a bit harder with the champ fight having a ditto I believe.

All the changed moves are TMs, used naive nature and played on minimal grinding mode so swapping from a special set to a physical one after Lorelei was feasible. Was all done with the single charizard.

All the changed moves are TMs, I just cut out the boring parts between fights of opening the Bag and teaching them, changing held items etc

Probably not but I haven't tested it. Can't overlevel anymore and the AI is significantly different.

How did you get the charizard to level 88, the level cap is 85 for me
In previous versions you could use Rare Candies to level your Pokémon above the level cap (but they would disobey if you went too far), this was removed in version 3.0, can't do it anymore

@@michaeladedara9703 This was done on v2.3a and the nature was Naive. Ability didn't matter, either works because the fights were done while mega evolved might as well use Blaze though.

How to get charizard x?
In route 16 west of Celadon. In the gate that leads to the cycling road go upstairs and talk to the scientist and show him a Charizard and he will give you the mega stone. If you are playing Hardcore difficulty you get it from Blaine instead.
How sit lvl 88? Isnt 85 the cap
This was done on a previous patch, you used to be able to use a couple rare candies when at the level cap before your Pokemon would disobey.

Yah idk if the modder has changed the stat values in 3.1 but I brought mega Y charizard to lorelei ice team when she was using a choice banded slush rush glaciin and alola ninetails..blizzard first turn freezes charizard and nine tails gets aurora up and my flamethrower drinks off glacion like a wet paper towel

Yea 88 is the max. You can do this at every point in the game actually, go slightly higher than the level cap and they will still obey. Usually 1-2 levels, there is a full list on the radical red discord.

Yeah, Drought stops glaceon from outspeeding, reduces blizzard accuracy. Stops the aurora veil, a-ninetales is faster than mega charizard-x so you can't use Sunny Day turn 1 to prevent it. Weakens Azumarill enough for the substitute to survive.

@@sushq Maybe. You'd just run max atk/speed. Likely need a different moveset for lorelei, rely more rock slide flinches instead of substitute. Should be possible.

Lvl 85 0+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Liquidation vs. +2 Lvl 88 0 HP / 0 Def Charizard-Mega-Y in Sun: 56-68 (21.3 - 25.9%) -- 2.8% chance to 4HKO It might have been Jolly nature I don't quite remember but even with this adamant calc it only had a very low chance to break the sub during the Sun from Charizard's Drought ability (water moves do 0.5x damage under sun). The 2 defense boosts are mandatory.
