- While the original recording was heavy on weeping guitars and 12 string accompaniment, and of course The Electric Light Orchestra, a real orchestra with a full string section, my version is stripped to the basic chords (and I even cheated a little on that). For me, at least, simple is best.

Inspired to attempt this by a recent cover by Reina Del Cid and Toni Lindgren (et al) who did it much better than this, being way more skilled and talented. But I have been pleased with the reception with my much simpler arrangement. Thanks, everyone who has listened.

Thanks. I’m always looking for songs that can be simplified for one guitar but still have the basic song. ELO songs have a lot of production and orchestration but they really don’t have to. I have heard Jeff Lynne do them on just his Gibson acoustic.

Great job! What picking pattern did you use?
No idea. What’s a picking pattern? I’m only kidding a little. I start with the chords, maybe strumming, then try to pick out a few of the bass notes, then just what feels right, until I can get through the song without screwing up. Maybe a few tweaks. I keep it very simple. After all, I’m not a Jeff Lynne
