As a movie theatre manager, I appreciate him calling out people for not picking up their trash. It is infuriating to have to pick up after grown adults when we barely get paid minimum wage.
I’m the dingus that always manage to spill a third of their giant popcorn (I am so sorry by the way). But I always take my garbage to the trash cans. You walk right past the cans, why wouldn’t you take the garbage with you!?
Apparently there are two sides to this argument even among the workers. In that same thread in the video, there were multiple movie theatre employees that said they prefer you leave the trash there instead of piling it into an already full trash can that overflows since they have to go through all the aisles anyway.
@@kadensesay8056 that does suck to deal with overflowing trash cans but those are easier to clean when it’s busy. People like walking into the theatre to see the next movie while you’re still cleaning and I’d prefer to just change trash. But I understand their side as well

Here’s something that really grinds my gears. Having a conversation with someone and someone else comes up to us and starts talking to the person I’m talking to. Then those two walk away to talk to each other without telling me why they’re leaving nor saying goodbye. I know it’s none of my business but come on; at least say “bye” before you go..
This happens so often for me, but I feel like my siblings do it more. I'm talking to my mother and I let ONE sound out of my mouth: Suddenly they want to talk to her. Then when I try to speak to her again, they go on another rant. It happens three times and I just don't want to speak with my mother anymore.
I've got something to say on the movie theatre one about people leaving their trash in the theatre. I'm one of the people that cleans the theatre after you leave. Certain things are annoying and certain things are expected. Popcorn. It's hard to get all that popcorn into your mouth in a dark room lol. Dropping a couple kernels is okay. I do it too. Pro tip. If you drop some, don't worry about picking it up, but do try to kick it under the seat or something. That goes for candy too. It's easy to clean when it's just sitting there but when it gets smooshed into the floor of the aisle, it can be a pain. So just kick it to where it won't get stepped on, I can get it from there. Drinks. Leave them in the cupholder unless you're taking it to your car with you. The trash bins on your way out of the theatre are harder to maintain than the one I carry with me, so I would rather throw it away in my own can. Just don't leave it on the floor because it's a disaster waiting to happen. Mostly, you're at the movies to enjoy a night out, so do just that. Don't worry about me doing what I get paid to do, but I do appreciate people trying to make my job not harder than it has to be. Just enjoy yourselves, we don't get enough of the good times anymore.
I like how yours try and make it easier. Here where I work it seems they try and make it harder by dumping full bags of popcorn or even buckets and spilling their drinks on every isle. I’m not ready for Spider-Man to come out. I wish you and your theater luck.
2:57 I was once looking for a parking spot at a shopping centre during the christmas period and I found someone who had parked like that. I parked like that so no one parks next to me!" I mustered up my biggest shit eating grin and asked "and how has that been working out for you, mate?" I've never seen someone get so livid over being denied the ability to act like an entitled tosser.
I have a smaller car so my car can fit next to a car like that. I always park it so that whoever owns the car cannot open the door at the driver seat side anymore. I especially like to do that if I am away for a few hours. I do that because you know they decide to be a douche so time to be a douche back.
Sean googling USA maternity leave: "I'm sure there's more to it." Nope. That's it. 12 weeks, unpaid. IF you're full time, and not working 3 part-time jobs simultaneously trying to pay your bills. Even if you are full-time, so many people don't take the full 12 weeks because they literally can't afford it. Or if their baby is in NICU, they may not take leave during that time so they can spend time with their baby when they're home. So they go to work feeling guilty because they're not at the hospital with their sick newborn, but they can't NOT go to work because they have to pay hospital bills because their insurance deductible is $3000 and that's one-tenth of their income. The US is literally a dystopia over here.
@@metalmayhem3622 Yes. They should. Because anyone with even a shred of human decency wouldn't willingly fuck over a pregnant woman or new parent trying to provide for their family. That amount of money isn't even going to put a dent in that ceo's pocket.

Actually, there is no required/guaranteed federal maternity leave. It's all up the company/employer. Don't even think about paternity leave. That's full blown infuriating.
Sean's reaction to US maternity leave reminds me of the first time I researched UK maternity leave for school and then found out that paternity leave is a thing in other countries. What?!? My husband went back to work the day I came home from the hospital. I was alone 3 days post cesarean with a small infant and a 3 year old. It was terrifying.
They actually used to have paternity leave but fathers went back to work quickly because they could 'cash in' the paid time off and work it (basically collecting free overtime pay for a normal work week). Employers then reduced the amount of hours they could cash out vs have to take off work and fathers still cashed out what they could and cut their loses with the rest of the time off.
@@JJ-yn4cj I mean, having a child is expensive, i can see why those fathers would work to get more money But, paternity leave should be a thing as well. All family members need to be there for the child to make sure they are a happy one.
Yeah I feel like the us might need to extend maternity leave though I think part of the reason it’s so small is cause most employers thing the woman is married and the husband is working (that was the case in my family) but for a single mother it wouldn’t surprise me that maybe a day after they gave birth they went back to work (if they are in a wage job if it’s a salary job hopefully the employer has basic human decency and will pay their employee at least something until they come back to work within reason obviously If the person leaves the job you shouldn’t have to pay them cause they are no longer employed but if they stay they need at least something till they come back (within reason) it should be required by law in the United States that their should be at least some paid maternity leave and also I know people talk about Amazon possibly running into problems with maternity leave if they paid their employees for it but it’s freaking Jeff Bezos with the calculations I saw and stuff and considering most people quit Amazon after awhile I highly doubt it’s a huge issue Amazon isn’t going to go bankrupt over it the problem with the US is that it makes being poor very hard to get out of (my family was poor for over a decade till my dad found a decent job) anyway I think I’ve said enough I simply value human decency and not screwing people over for having a life
Thankfully, there are still quite a few companies that will do paid maternity leave in the US for full-time employees. It's up to the employers to decide, rather than it being law and making the companies factor it into their regular expense. Yes, it sucks (and pales in comparison to comparable countries), but people are also saying this makes the U.S. a dystopia 😂.

As someone who used to work in a cinema: yes, people leaving their stuff is so infuriating. but the picture they used looked incredibly tidy compared to what I was used to. after an action movie, the theatre woud look like a warzone and it was never really lit even when we cleaned up. you only have a certain amount of time until the next movie starts and the more of a mess people make the more stressed you are. so, please take your stuff with you when you leave.
@@paras9897 lol if you just leave your trash and don’t throw it out you’re lazy and disgusting, no argument around that period. "Maternity leave in UK is 52 weeks" Isn't that exactly 1 year? Also, Jack, that was right. Maternity leave in US is literally just 12 unpaid weeks, but some people don't even get that long
AND, that’s only for the woman giving birth. The partner gets nothing by law, although some places that actually respect their employees will do better.
There are a few companies that exist that give more to their employees, more leave and pay, but most of them don't and a lot even expect people to just quit their job. It's certainly sad.
my friend is currently out on "maternity leave" which is actually just her using all of her vacation, sick, and PTO. Her company finally agreed to match that time off, but it's all unpaid. So total she has 33 days, 15 of which are unpaid. Her partner has 0 paternity leave

Or the opposite. While stocking the shelves one day, I found a JAR OF PICKLES in the FREEZER. Just hanging out with the Rocky Road. It was fine of course but that was definitely mildly infuriating
Reminds me of my retail days back when I was a teenager... I once discovered a customer had left a tub of ice cream in the magazine stack, hidden behind a magazine that they presumably also put back. The way I discovered it? It had melted and destroyed the entire display. All of the magazines were coated in melted ice cream and had to be disposed of. Another person left a steak on the bottom shelf in one of the aisles. We had no idea it was there until the smell was overwhelming, and then spent a couple hours combing through the shelves trying to find the source.
Just two days ago, I saw a MINI COOPER perfectly straddling the line between two parking spaces. 11:05 The two prongs are different sizes if the electronic requires each line to be a certain way, but most smaller electronics don’t care so it can fit which way round. To tell the difference there will be a prong that is flared out bigger to fit in the slightly bigger prong hole.
The theatre I worked for payed minimum wage and often if you got closing shifts you were there till 2 or 3 in the morning, and it always seemed to be the last showing of the night that left the most trash and filth behind while also demanding we reopen the concession stand. in regards to the sink one, I used to work at in a restaurant downtown in Texas, and there was a sink up front behind the counters, and one in the back, and the thing that kept pissing everyone off was that the handles went in entirely different directions, so you'd constantly be turning them the wrong way, or sometimes you'd forget offhandedly and turn it on full blast.
Jack, there is not more to it. The USA doesn’t require employers to give any paid maternity leave. Many do, but it’s not required at all. Those 12 unpaid weeks are all you are guaranteed.
I agree with Sean's comments on the movie theater stuff. I used to work at a movie theater before going to a new job for 2 years and the people that work there do not get paid enough to deal with the stuff they have to deal with.
Yep! For that, among so many other reasons, the idea of emigrating (something I thought I’d never consider 10 years ago) keeps creeping closer to reality.
In some states it's better. But it's awful that this is a state-by-state thing because most don't do any better than the bare minimum required federally.
I mean there is more to that in so much as Right to work/At Will employment means that they can fire you if they can come up with a reason unrelated to your pregnancy/child birth
Re the books, it drives me bananas when people make completely impractical interior design choices just for the aesthetic. Nothing justifies putting books backwards on a shelf.
As a pregnant working woman in the US, I appreciate Sean doing a comparison of the different countries and their maternity leave. Many of my friends or coworkers who are/ have been pregnant continue to work all the way up until their water breaks, and then go back to work within 1-2 months because they can’t afford to miss the income.
WHAAAATTTT???? How do you guys even have kids at this point?? Aren't you all drowning of stress?? My country has at least 16 months paid leave and I thought that was normal in most countries.. (At least the western ones cuz they are most similar to mine) Hope you are doing good through all of this!
Regarding American power plugs, On a two-prong, the thinner prong is usually 120v power, the other is Neutral which sends power back to the original source. On the three-prong, you have power, neutral AND ground.
And the toilet paper also is the RIGHT way when you have pets that like to play with toilet paper, because it makes it so they can't unroll the whole TP roll lmao
The maternity leave in the US is awful. Paternity leave should also be more normalized. Both parents should be able to spend a significant amount of time with their baby/babies after it/they are born. 12 weeks, especially unpaid, is ridiculous.
Except for the fact that you chose to have a child. In the US you are paid for a service. If you can work from home cool, more power to you. Yes, children need a mother with them 24/7 at a young age. But you are no longer providing a service to the company ie, no wages. Now if you find a company that offers it that would be a good company. The idea that it should be required means that people will abuse it. During covid in the US we had an astrominical amount of money being given to people to sit at home. In the first year of Biden's presidency unemployment has only dropped 2% because we are giving people money for nothing. There are help wanted signs EVERYWHERE. Yet positions are unfilled. At one point the govt was giving $900/week for unemployment. Why would somebody go work at McDonald's or be a receptionist for $12/hr when they could in theory be paid $30/hr to sit at home?

No no Jack you are correct, 12 weeks of unpaid leave. I actually did a policy proposal about it and talked about how beneficial it is for not only employers, and the employees but relationships within the family. There is a lot of stipulation to even get that 12 weeks of unpaid leave as well and you aren’t even guaranteed your job.
Nope you get absolutely nothing in the US. You're only guaranteed to return to A job of EQUAL pay. Which can land you in a pretty shitty spot. Knew a woman who had twins and took ML from her secretary position in a housing/rental management company. When she came back they moved her to maintenance, where she had no prior experience. The sub for her role was the boss' daughter so they just stuffed her in a corner to be forgotten until she got tired of the hours and quit.
It depends on the employer. Federal maternity leave is one thing, but employers can extend it at will and is often part of your contract with your employer, so if you don't think your employer's policy works for you you will know ahead of time before signing the contract. Individual states also have different policies that can add to that (much like different EU members have different policies). I'm not saying the system is good or not, just that it is not that simple and a lot of policies and laws are left out of the Federal Govt. so as to limit its' power.
You also can't forget the money it cost to have a child. Mine cost me 24k. Insurance paid most...but I still owed 3k. also, if i was married it would be double as the assumption is both parents have a full time job with insurance. (Which isn't always the case)

To this person with the "It's the worker's job" mentality, would that not also be irritating to have to reorganize those papers? Yes, you have to do it because it's your job but would it really be that hard for your coworker to make your job easier by just being a little more thoughtful in handling the files? It. Is. To be fair, the backwards books aren't _completely_ silly. If the shelf gets a lot of sun it reduces fading of the spine. Although at that point it might be better to get a drape cover for it instead. Also, Australia and NZ have superior electric plugs. The prongs are angled so that even without the earth prong you can't put it in backwards.
Yeah but when the books are turned that way and there is a lot of sun, the paper will get yellow and brittle (archivist here, don't put paper in the sun/blue light for long periods of time. Thanks).
There are many plugs like that in Aus/NZ too, though you're right it's not universal. Still, the prongs are short enough that you have to be trying pretty hard to get a shock from them -- either the plug won't be far enough in to have made contact yet or it's far enough that there's not much gap to be dangerous unless you're actively poking a metal knife in from the side or something.
Ew no angled prongs are worse! They're such a pain to plug in even when you're able to put pressure direct on the back, let alone when it's behind something or too close to the floor so you can't press on it easily. And why would anything without the extra safety measure of the earth prong ever be considered superior?? Even if the angled thing is a way to stop it being installed backwards, why not have a third one also angled just so there's, you know, less chance of a horrific death?

That always drove me a little nuts too even though I never worked one (technically was an usher for the acting theater, but we didn't do clean up).

I understand, i will do what's told this next thursday when im off to see the new spiderman movie, cheers mate!
I like how yours try and make it easier. Here where I work it seems they try and make it harder by dumping full bags of popcorn or even buckets and spilling their drinks on every isle. I’m not ready for Spider-Man to come out. I wish you and your theater luck.
If most people cleaned up after themselves, the theater would be cleaned a lot faster, meaning you’d be able to get into your seats sooner.
And then you have the little Einsteins who are alone in the screening room and throw popcorn at the screen.

Sean googling USA maternity leave: "I'm sure there's more to it."
Nope.
@@puppysrock015 So, a woman comes to work for you. 9 months later you have to give her 3 months salary for doing no work. You're fine with that?
Not a dent? Amazon would have to pay out $4,399,272,000 in labor if every one of their female employees got pregnant.
(the average wage of an amazon employee is 930 a week * 12 = $11,160. Amazon has 876,000 employees * .45 = 394,200. 394,200 * $11,160 = $4,399,272,000)

Actually, there is no required/guaranteed federal maternity leave. It's all up the company/employer. Don't even think about paternity leave. That's full blown infuriating.
This entire video almost made me cry lmfao
@@JJ-yn4cj I mean, having a child is expensive, i can see why those fathers would work to get more money
But, paternity leave should be a thing as well.

"Maternity leave in UK is 52 weeks"
Isn't that exactly 1 year?

(At least the western ones cuz they are most similar to mine)
Hope you are doing good through all of this!
Our country really needs to pull its shit together.
Regarding American power plugs,
On a two-prong, the thinner prong is usually 120v power, the other is Neutral which sends power back to the original source.

Especially since some employers do not hire women specifically because of maternity leave.
@@maybe_try_thinking_instead or you know, people might also want to work a bit more if those companies sucked less to work for
@@maybe_try_thinking_instead I feel like the problem is that those jobs should pay more if you can’t find people. Pay people what their time is worth and not how easy they are to replace.
@@maybe_try_thinking_instead there’s never an employee shortage, just a pay shortage. If a company can’t exist while paying liveable wages, they shouldn’t exist.

7:15 Once again, Robin's edits in Jack's vids never ceases to amaze me. 😂🤓👏 (The "YEAH" part got me the most)
Especially when Robin didn't even edit this
Robin didnt edit this video lmao
It was trey who edited this video but I get what you mean, that was honestly probably one of the best bits in this vid.
Was a different editor, but yeah I guess this one has his moments. I didn’t really like some of the stuff he did in the first couple of minutes, though 🤷🏼♀️ a lot of it kinda disrupts the flow and makes you think of 2017 CZcams
Okay, I hate the mentality of "Oh, I can do whatever I want here because it's the worker's job to fix it!"
So we'll say that a person who said this works at a company, and it's their job to organize and file papers, okay? Someone needs some of your files, so they just go into your cabinet and start pulling things out haphazardly and if it's not what they need, they toss it on the ground. To this person with the "It's the worker's job" mentality, would that not also be irritating to have to reorganize those papers? Yes, you have to do it because it's your job but would it really be that hard for your coworker to make your job easier by just being a little more thoughtful in handling the files?
It. Is. Frustrating, and I don't even have a job that has to worry about this.
Obviously for the wooden lid, they had to kill a tree to make that lid.
Awful things indeed.
The whole maternity leave subject has me extremely infuriated. My company won’t give me any paid maternity leave whatsoever. My fiancé is currently disabled and unemployed and I’m the only one bringing in income, so yeah, I’m gonna be that woman that goes back to work 3 days after giving birth. 😑 fuck America
Im sorry about this Cheyenne. Unfortunately American companies try their hardest to give employees the least amount of money possible, if they could force you to work for free they would definitely do it.
I hope its going okay

Someone at my university was parked like that for a week. I was feeling pretty petty, so I drew lines on either side of the car w/ sidewalk chalk and wrote, "Parking spot just for you." The car was there long enough that I actually had to email campus PD about it. I never heard back from them, but the car was gone the next day. I still see that vehicle parked on campus once in a while, and I remember my one notable petty action, lol.
The fact they mixed the M&Ms and Skittles is monstrous why would someone do that
To be fair, the backwards books aren't _completely_ silly.
Thanks).
With the UK plugs though, even if you put the plug in halfway, it's physically impossible for the plug to shock you due to how it's coated
I... don't understand any of the arguments here... how can you put a plug in bachwards anyway it's all AC current no?
9:17 I understand this so much! I work in a hardware store in Indiana and people will just always leave this carts at the end of my register and not take them to the cart area before they leave. It sometimes get to the point where I just leave them to sit there and the people behind them will put their carts into that one until they completely block people from going through. I just don't understand what the hardest part of taking the cart with you at the end of your shopping even though you pushed to the cart all the way through the store. It's just mildly infuriating for me when I have to deal with it on a daily basis.

American Paternity/Maternity leave is pretty much nonexistent.
