Are animals smarter than us?

  • What goes on in an animal's mind? A neuroscientist at Emory University believed he might find out by placing dogs in an MRI scanner, and analyzing how their brains respond to different stimulations. Martha Teichner checked out his findings, and the research of other scientists studying the complexities of elephants and dolphins, and learned that humans may not be smart enough to understand the intelligence of animals.

    Judging by most YT comments animals are certainly nicer than people.

    The short answer is no - but they are very well adapted to what's relevant to them and have life skills that we don't. My experiences with animals tell me that they are far more intelligent than many people believe or assume they are; there is a paradox involved as well - the less intelligent a person is, the less likely they are to recognise intelligence in animals.

      Can any human invent rocketships? Are all humans good at maths? How do you know animals do not calculate? Humans are different than other animals, but not necessarily all of us smarter . Very few of us are unusually intelligent. Their inventions and discovery brought us where we are today. Some of us are smart enough to learn and apply their works. And some of us are incredibly stupid-have no depth in thinking and are destroying the planet.

    • @jinanburns509

      @Jesus first of all there are lots of humans out there who cannot drive cars and they are highly intelligent. If you judge living beings by their ability to drive cars, you will be wrongly judging both humans and other animals. There are plenty of tribes in this current world out there , where technology has not reached, are you going to tell me those humans are stupid or different than you, based on your logic? Humans have free wills that animals do not have. That doesn't make animals stupid. There are very few humans who are geniuses. Majority of the humans despite having free will are incapable of inventing new technologies. So if you have any respect for these geniuses, don't use them to describe majority of humans. If it wasn't for those people, we would not be driving cars now. Animals know what they are doing. They may not invent things, but they are not stupid enough to destroy things either. I would suggest you do some reading on how humans are destroying the planet. If you think you are very intelligent, then please use your intelligence to learn things from nature. You will never learn anything from others, humans or animals when you lack curiosity and still form opinions .

    • @jinanburns509
      @jinanburns509 Před 4 lety

      @Jesus herbivores are not the only kind of animals out there. To be honest with you I am wondering in which planet you are living in . I think you should travel more and speak to other people from different cultures and under developed countries. The main reason these countries are lagging behind are for corruptions in massive scale. Compassion and altruism are the last thing in the minds of the corrupt powerful people in these countries . I don't know how you can say, all humans are compassionate by default, when even in the 21st century people start wars and think it is a good thing. I have seen more dogs with compassion than humans.

      I also believe that just as some people are more intelligent than others some animals of the same species can be more intelligent than the other it's all about survival for animals, which in a sense makes them pretty damn intelligent ...yes we create things , for humans we don't have to really try to survive we can go to the fast food joint and get burgers made for us and with tv and internet , our own kind is trying to dumb us down and make us lazy sheep...

      Actually that's not true. Scientists have done an EQ in which they found a ratio of the species' body mass to brain mass and the 1st one after humans were dolphins (Even though I don't know whether that makes them "smarter" than a chimp because they need an extra lobe for "sonar") and all of those to make into top 5 were apes (including humans) and marine mammals.
