Destin, Florida: A Vacation From Our RV Vacation on the Gulf of Mexico's Emerald Coast

- This is the last stop on the Great American Road Trip travel vlog. We just relax for a couple of days at the Emerald Coast, frolicking in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, eat some fabulous seafood, and then drive all the way to Panama City. Here we wish we were traveling in a van because there are many place we would love to stop for a bite or just enjoy the surf.

We are reaching the home stretch, the end of our epic road trip. In this last installment, the idea is to take a vacation from our vacation and do something totally different. We are just going to relax in the white sand and warm waters of the Emerald Coast of Florida. This is located in the Florida panhandle, on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.
We are splurging in one of the most expensive and coveted RV Parks in the United States, Camp Gulf, in Destin Florida. Our two nights here will be a grand total of $445 for a beachfront site. Is it worth it? You can be the judge of that but I thoroughly enjoyed waking up a stone throw away from the water. Our time here is spent as follows: beach, beer, seafood, repeat.
Well there's a little more than that, and we did certain things line eating a freshly made Krispy Kreme, which didn't make it to the video. Why it didn't? Well I had my hands full of Krispy Kreme glaze goodness and didn't want to touch my phone.
As we begin our return trip to South Florida, we cruise along, hugging the coast all the way to Panama City. I the video you get treated to a mesmerizing time lapse as we pass by all the Gulf Coast communities. Eventually we get on the interstate and after a long, long drive we make it to the 305, the local pseudonym for Miami.

I love our beaches here in Destin and the Panhandle. We work hard to keep them clean and beautiful for visitors as well as us locals. Please, please, if you pack/carry it in, pack/carry it out. Plenty of garbage receptacles along all the beaches. Thank you & have fun!
Is Destin ok after the hurricane, or are you still recovering?
@@clarashoe9504 We only got alot of rain really and very little wind damage, looked worse then it was. Mexico Beach in the Big Bend area & PCB got it. that's about 70+/- miles East of Destin

I used to live in PCB as well as on St. Croix, in the USVI. The Emerald Coast water is just as warm and beautiful as the water in the Caribbean.

Ohhh i love Destin! When my son was 3 I took him for he first time, he ran onto the sand so happy laughing then looked so confused. He thought it was snow lol So glad to see the back porch is still there our favorite little eatery has changed quite a bit in 25 years. I like love love to go back.

I can't believe I've been on CZcams this long without knowing of your channel. I to am a Floridan also, I love your channel,you show real world problems and solutions,as well as showing not only the camp grounds you go to but the cities you visit and you give your honest opinion on the place you are visiting. I simply can't believe you've been on CZcams this long and I'm just finding out now.
I'll tell you what as soon as I could afford to buy one the Winnebago Minnie is the one for me watching your videos sold me on it, I don't know how it so small but inside has everything you could want or need. If there is a extra you did not get and would want what would it be?

I love seeing vids of travelers stopping by my (sorta) neck of the woods! I moved to Mobile AL in 09, and two years ago made the move to the Pensacola area, where beaches are less than 20 minutes away. I love the Destin/Fort Walton area so much and am lucky it's only 35-40 minutes away! Even if Panama City Beach were closer, I much prefer Destin or Pensacola beaches because the tourists are generally kind and respectful, whereas Orange Beach/Gulf Shores AL and Panama City are mostly where the rowdy spring breakers go.

Love the channel thanks for your time and effort. Greetings from Southeast Missouri. My family and I stayed just to the west of the campground in June of 2018 . It was absolutely fantastic the most picturesque place I have ever been. The people at night were hunting little ghost crabs ( it's fantastic fun). Again thanks for the videos

Great video and nice shot of the of the results of one of our SandCastle Lessons! Yep Destin in one of the few locations in the world where you can learn how to build a sand tower 3.5 feet tall!

This is one of my favorite beaches in Florida! The sand is the best and the water crystal clear 👌...plus very close to my Blue Angels base...
I love Destine. Been there several times. When I was about Ten years old my father took us to my Aunts house for thanksgiving. The sand dunes were huge. The years of Hurricanes have wash them out into the Gulf. Awesome video

Awesome video Robert 👍🏼 Destin is a great vacation spot beautiful scenery and beaches , I love the gulf coast especially Panama City Beach also they have a state park St. Andrews State Park, I usually stay on Thomas Drive when I’m vacationing in PCB lots of condos and hotels some are a little expensive, that’s why I would love an RV. Really enjoyed this video. We were along the Emerald coast in December and it was magnificent. The sunsets and sunrise were spectacular. Laughed out loud when I saw you swimming under water with your glasses on but I get it.
Wow, great life . Perfect way to get the most out of life. I am 41 and did took road trips to Vegas 4 times, so far. And I'll be heading to Florida this summer 2021. I'll be having similar lifestyle once I am into 50's and park my RV in my own land when I am on a winter breaks . Thanks for sharing free lifestyle . I subscribed.

I live in Pensacola. The beaches on the Emerald coast really are so beautiful ^^ I kind of want to move to an area with more tropical flowers and plants however so I'm considering moving to central or south Florida. However... I'm glad I live in Florida in general. I think I need to mention how as beautiful as the images are that you captured, no one realizes that cameras simply don't capture just how incredibly white the sand really is. It's like snow really and it's so beautiful! It has to be seen to really be appreciated.
i like the emerald coast beaches the best but it's too cold on the panhandle. i want to go to the beach year round. also more hurricanes up there. and i know the destin area at least is crazy with spring breakers
Great video Robert. He destin area is one of our favorite places to go. We stay at Topsail Hill State Park and Grayson Beach State Park. We've eaten at the back porch, one of our favorites. I like the amberjack fish and we both love the baked oysters appetizer. But we really like the town of Seaside. Will probably stay at Grayton Beach state park again and spend most of our time there in Seaside. But it's a long drive for us from NC. ...lol

I'm 72 years old and I was born in Pensacola Florida. When I was a little girl Destin was just a sleepy little fishing village. Miles of sand dunes and gorgeous beaches. I got the worst sun burn of my life there. Back then you could camp, fish or anything you wanted to do for free. There were no camping grounds or rules. Thoses were the days. :)

The BoatHouse restaurant is a long time favorite local hangout:) Watching the sunrise, sunsets on our beaches are magical! Growing up on the East coast near the ocean we used this trick: keep a med to large square plastic container filled with water out side your rv or tent to rinse your feet off before going inside.
