  • This is a guide to the transistor tester forum thread on vrtp.ru, the Russian home of the project that has been copied by so many people around the World. This video should be used as a visual history of the project from the start of this thread in 2010 until November 2013. This is also intended as an index for pages 1-100 to help you find highlights you may wish to look into further via a translation app. Nowhere else has this level of unique DIY content. This thread was started long before Karl-Heinz and Markus took over the project. There are several project forks and variations including some based on PIC microcontrollers, and even a reference that mentioned porting the project to an STM8 MCU.
This video is my 6th official transistor tester thread summary/image index.

Hopefully the title and descriptions are somewhat helpful in the different languages. This was accomplished using G-Translate. I apologize for any errors in advance.

Thanks heaps for the Sub. have you every used Baychi firmware for openlrs gear ?
    cheers

      Hey Brett,
Nope, I had to look up Baychi/openlrs just to know that's RC stuff. Not that I have anything against that kind of thing.
I'm just a partially disabled gimp stuck laying down most of my day with an hour or two playing at a bench on my good days. I haven't gotten into radio or RC stuff very much.
My main interests right now are hardware design related and programming. I have a couple of setups for etching boards, and I am going to try fabricating my own 3 and possibly 4 layer boards soon. Apparently I like building power supplies too... as I am currently building 2 more. Those are really just an excuse to explore a few DACs and ADCs I've been wanting to play with :-)

Hay there jake, buger.....I had to look up "partially disabled gimp ".....not sure about google now.....
Boy have I got the coolest Project for you then.................
its nearly ready just needs some fine tuning...........
My 18650 impedance tester needs a ADC1115 attached to it and a 5110 screen to make it mint.....
      please help yourself.....then......Haha call me......
its cool we have this hobby, I got two kids(girls) and wish I had someone to share my knowledge with before i go.
      talk soon

      Hey Brett,
I totally understand the social isolation thing. I'm self educated with no real world local contacts myself.
I have one of the infamous little ADS1115 modules. Their effective bits don't seem to align well with their advertised spec. I recently ordered an ADC0831 (differential 8 bit), MCP3102 & MCP3102 (Single and Dual 12 bit), and an LTC2450 (16 bit). Those are all cheap bits from AliEx. The 2450 will be my first serious attempt at a tiny 7 pad QFN footprint, but at less than $2 I figured I'd try it. The seller with the 2450 had a bunch of Linear Tech stuff, and had a reviewer that decapped a LT3092 and found the LT logo on the die. I picked up some of those too. That's the precision current regulator IC from LT that is quite unique. They usually cost a good bit in small quantities too, like $12 a pop from US distributors. That seller even listed the LT1634B Vref's (0.05%) so I'll have a bunch of those as well from 1.25v to 5v. I also do a bit of ordering from Arrow with the more serious stuff. Depending on the next few experiments I may also pick up a few LTC2400's (24 bit and comes in a dip-8) from there. I have saved some better examples of that IC in practice. The Skullcom Electronics 6.5 digit millivolt meter project on YT is based on the 2400. That project is well documented and there are two separate code versions, the original author and one rewritten by another viewer.
I also need to try out a couple of newer μC's for their integrated hardware but have just been too lazy to get very far away from my AVR's. I have had a few STM32 M0's for ages and have my first SAM D21 based board ordered as well.
I'm super slow to get anything done though. I have a dozen or so of what I would call "active projects" some of which I have been working on for well over a year.
I basically use electronics to fill my time and give me a distraction. I started this shortly after getting hurt. I thought I would just figure out how to build a few circuits for a hotrod project but wound up having to give up all of my physical hobbies like hotrodding.
I was disabled by a car hitting me on my bicycle commute to work in 2014. I never recovered from my back injuries and I basically tore and now have extremely weak posture muscles in my mid back. So I'm not able to sit or stand upright for long. It's about like handing someone a two pound dumbbell and telling them to hold it out in front of them at chest height. It's easy at first but no human can hold even a 2lb weight like this for more than a couple of hours maximum. That's exactly what it feels like with my back. It's just a type of damage that is very rare and unlike anything people generally associate with back problems. Sitting, standing, it's all the same. Sucks.
      Anyways...that's my story.
      -Jake
