Oh my gawwwwdddd the gold vase is gorgeous! Also the ‘catching’ is called ‘plucking’. It happens when the pieces expand/contract during the firing. You can combat it with kiln sand which allows the piece to move more easily when it is contracting during the firing. 💖

Hey Nat! Great Kiln Opening! Loving all the obsidian combos..and the LJ Sapphire Float..gorge!! as for the top shelf cone 5, looks like it was too close to a kiln support thats why it had the funny trajectory...happened to me too. I;ve also had a cone melt into a pot as well and yes, just grind it down with your dremel and add a little glaze and refire. It should fix up nicely. The raised cookies I got the idea from @oldforgecreations it was a while ago so you will have to go back into his history for the vid.

I have found when i have a half shelf in my kiln it fires hotter than normal. Beautiful pieces! Love your kiln openings!

Oh Thankyou so much. That’s so interesting we were discussing afterwards if the half shelf was the culprit!!

Another great load ladies! I agree, the heat is probably causing the blisters. Thanks for that, I've got a piece that has been fired twice now, and still has blisters. I think I'll try firing at a cone 5 instead of 6 to see if they heal.
Mad, I love your sweater! Trace, the thought came to me, you're kind of like Wilson on Tool Time, as we never see your face! LOL
I agree the big bowl is my kiln fave, although the gold vase is a close 2nd! What green stain did you use? My green Mason stain turned an ugly gray in my glaze fire #12. I was so disappointed!
Anyway, you guys are doing great work, and congrats on the success at the festival!

Thanks so much pat. I didn’t realise blisters could heal on refiring?? Can I save the marbled bowl?? Malachite green stain I think it’s abbots.

Love the winterwood over power turquoise combo I'm definitely going to try that one. Sorry about the blistering, maybe its just the clay, but your marbling is lovely! Is it possible the cones went in backwards or something? I've never seen them like that...
