This track makes me so nervous that it gives me a cramp in my leg lol.
Well, nothing cheaper than something free, right?
Haha took me a second to recognise the meaning of your comment 😂 Laguna lol
Oh you!
Yep, it's been stuck in my head for more than 20 years.
"THIS SOUNDTRACK MAKES NO SENSE!" Lmao wait till you see the actual game.
8 manages to be as convoluted as the entire Kingdom Hearts series....and it's a single game!
@@hellfrozenphoenix13 its really not that confusing lol
I really had no problem following the game and narrative. Maybe I'm a contrarian, maybe I just didn't get distracted and followed the narrative. Everyone is different. I personally feel like most people just follow the loudest critique of the game that says it doesn't make sense. I only say that because even when I try my hardest to purposefully try and make it not make sense, it makes sense. Just saying
@@debrucey oh, i personally get, and love, the story. My comment is mainly to meme about it because people consider it so confusing. Yes, its a bit convoluted and could have been done in a less confusing way, but the pieces do clearly fit and, unlike Kingdom Hearts, none of it feels made up.
Come on, FF7 was much more confusing.
I'd like to think Nobuo was having some kind of rave going on when he composed this XD
It's the perfect theme for Laguna though, given what a laid-back goof he is.
There's a reason a lot of people consider FF8 to be Nobuo's magnum opus.
Agreed the song fits Laguna so well, I never knew FF8's soundtrack was considered Nobuo's Magnum Opus.
@@MrRemmington The OST won multiple awards and easily stands out as his best work.
@@Malacite maybe thats why I've always had this strange adoration for the game, despite its many flaws and me generally not enjoying the more modern day to sci-fi setting FFs.
I have man with a machine gun on my dance playlist
This song shows up in game just long enough into the game that youve begun to hum the normal battle theme, and suddenly this. Surprising, and very very cool.
🧡 FF8 soundtrack is super diverse and incredible. This song stands out for all the right reasons for me.
Even tho ff8 isn't my favorite in the series (still love it) It's my favorite OST.
Out of all the non-mmo FFs, 8s may be the most wildly diverse in terms of style. They go to rock, techno/disco, pop, soft, ambient...it's serious crazy.
@@hellfrozenphoenix13 yeah I still think the theories about game are true - even if its been technically debunked.
My favorite song from FF8 and one of my all time favorites from the entire series. I used to spend hours just running around and starting fights so I could listen to it again.
the sound make sense when you encounter the owner of this theme LOL.
This is something of Japanese pop culture, they always use triumphant songs for certain types of characters, as if they want to tell a glorious story about a character and make you feel attracted to him by a "natural" charisma.
Kiros vibing is one of the best parts of FF8. That drip. That swagger.
And pretty. . . . . .
I'm gay lol 🥰🥰🤣🤣
the first battle, both Kiros and Funguar vibin' to this BGM
@@KillChaos7 Oh my god, yes. That's absolutely iconic. The Funguar's idle animation is so perfect
For my generation, this theme song was one of the major memorable moments for the franchise. Traditional grand orchestral scores suddenly give way to a techno song, and a protagonist, who for the first time, is wielding a a gun.
This songs such a bop! Probably would have not enjoyed the Laguna sections without it haha
Laguna. The soldier who dreamed of being a travel writer , but found his destiny as the man who defeated the sorceress and became a leader.
All with leg cramps 😆
I love this theme so much, I used to artificially extend the segment where this plays so I could continue bopping to it.
Without spoilers, it makes sense in context as to why it sounds so off the wall and different, and I can't wait for you to see why in context.
The soundtrack is as diverse as the world of FF8 itself. I love the setting.
The distant worlds version of this is a highlight; despite it sounding so synth focused, the orchestral arrangement really captured the essence.
This was the first Final Fantasy soundtrack I bought with my own money. And I listened to all four discs OVER AND OVER again, it is SO good
One of the most iconic songs from FF in general. It's indeed an instant classic, I can vividly remember jamming to this when I heard it in-game for the first time many years ago.
I just would say, this is a desperado song.
And you were so on point analysing the song, is just and instant classic for sure.
I see what you did there…
I member Laguna Desperado XDD
8 was my first FF game and is still my favorite. Hearing the ost is alway so nostalgic for me.
I totally know what you mean, you want the song to not be overplayed so it remains a treat when you do get to hear it.
Thankfully, it IS rare enough to be a treat.
You said Capcom vibes, & the tempo & energy does remind me of the funk of Armored Armadillo. It gladdens me to see your curiosity so piqued by the different flavors FF8 offers.
I hope you can find time to get to The Black Mages' version of this as well some time. They really do it justice!
This always sounded like a killer Sonic the Hedgehog track to me. It's one of my favorite FF tracks ever.
Uematsu really went all out for this soundtrack, and it definitely represents the variety found in the FF8 world, as opposed to rather samey-vibes in 7 and earlier games (and to be fair to those games, their tracks fit their worlds for different reasons and are incredible in their own right).
This song is pure joy!
One of my favorites in the series. Ahhhh it never gets old.
Yes! This is, in my opinion, one of the coolest battle themes in the franchise. My favorite song in FF8.
This song and the sound effect for Kiros' Blood Pain Limit Break will be eternally etched into my brain. Truly unfortunate that one of the best battle anthems in their series is relegated to the three shortest sections in the game.
I cant wait till you hear Force Your Way!!
I just said the same thing on a different vid.
Yesss!! THIS is the song I think of when I think FF8 and I'm so glad everyone loves this too! 😂 Oh if you think the OST makes no sense you've seen nothing yet.
Chill dad theme
Such an amazing tune, thanks for the reaction & request! 👍🏻
Oooomy God!!!!! You know about freestyle!!!!!! Dude I grew up with that too!! Johnny O, Lisa Lisa, Cynthia, and more! Never be embarrassed. That's great music. I would say metal and punk is my go to but you could find me listening to those call backs here and there in my car or at home solo. I thank my mom for introducing me to that genre when I was a kid. Lol
As a dancer, I was getting hype when you were talking about freestyle dance music!
This soundtrack is easily my favorite work from Uematsu.
When I played FF8 when it first came out in the West, you would get the main character's battle music for a good while in the game. Then, you suddenly take control of the Laguna's character in his backstories and suddenly I get this song for battle music which came out of nowhere for me. lol
The short songs are little nuggets of happiness. Definitely on my top 5 from FF8
1:58... dun worry jesse... this song has being stuck in my head since 1999...
THIS IS HYPE!!! FF8 is my favourite Final Fantasy soundtrack.
I feel like with FF8 songs, they make sense in context, so it's good that you play the game. All the songs may appear diverse, but they all work so well in game, as they seem a coherent whole.
So can you guess what the setting of ff8 is yet?
This track was always a blast whenever it comes up. Best FF8 track.
These videos giving me the itch to return to speedrunning this game!
Dude watching your reaction to the song when it drops had me smiling and laughing and getting goosebumps just because you were enjoying it. I love this song from 8.. I always got MegaMan vibes from it. I feel you on that.
lol. when you said this soundtrack made no sense, it reminded me of a comment that the FF8 Boss theme is actually composed of different songs stitched together (yet it still sounds good!)
your facial reaction at 1:13 (clapping section) 😂
Omg I remember hearing this song the first time when I played the game. I used to love being in the past world with Laguna because this song was so awesome. Sometimes I would drag out the fights just so I could hear the music longer.
Gotta be one of my favourite FF tracks. It's so incredibly catchy.
As a kid, I also always thought this song IN PARTICULAR makes no sense, but it always struck me as: "it makes sense that it doesn't make sense", because when you hear it for the first time, you find yourself playing a different whole ass party and it just all happens at once. It just adds to the mystery and WTF just hit you so damn well and conveys the difference of the "cut in the plot" just even better, since AT THE TIME you have no damn idea wtf just happened. So well done.
FF8 is my all-time favorite game from the past! One of the reasons is the amazing music.
Well, the theme IS the battle theme for the titular "Man with the machine gun"... But that's about all that can really be said without going into spoiler territory.
I can't wait to see you discover why the soundtrack is so insane in this game
MAXIMUM HUSBANDO ENERGY THEME
Back in those days this soundtrack made 100% sense
Oh you gotta hear the black mage version of this song lol...its probably one of my favs.
It is a must for all FF8 OST fans to hear the great music remakes from Enrico Deiana. Totally worth it.
The soundtrack is the same reason I started playing the series as well. Started with FF9 (2nd favorite game) and then the rest whose OST caught my fancy (which was a bunch).
hardest final fantasy to follow along with... anyone else agree?
I read on Reddit once about FF soundtracks: "FF7 is the most nostalgic, FF8 is the most unique, but the best is FF6".
Most nostalgic will always depend on who you ask, but I guess a lot of people did just discover the series or even JRPGs with 7... For me, it would have nothing on 11 in that regard, hell, it feels like even most of its music is composed to sound nostalgic.
lol reddit.
FF9 and/or FF14***
This song seriously gives me capcom/megaman vibes so I agree on that 200%
I see there are others here with top shelf taste 😋. So many different versions of this too, all really good! My fav FF track.
one of the best fighting ost in FF
Yep... that's about the reaction one should expect of this song. :D
orchestral version is crazy good
I can easily explain the soundtrack! First of all...WAIT...ahhh...my leg...It's cramping up....
"this is gonna be stuck on my head". feel ya buddy been there for 20 years XD
I've recently realised this track gives me old school Sega Mega Drive/Genesis "Streets of Rage" vibes :)
The best song for my favorite character in the game. The Distant Worlds version is amazing.
Uematsu - "Get in the car nerds. Where we're going, it doesn't need to make sense."
The best absentee dad in Final Fantasy.
This song always made me feel energetic, like I should be listening to it while boxing a punching bag!
@Jesse's Auditorium you mention the lack of motives that tie the pieces together and you are fully right. Nobuo went away from "them" in this game because he felt they were inefficient. Some motives still appear but much less than in previous opus. Anyway great analysis.
Its a boss fight vs Barret. he has a cameo in ff8
really amazing ost
Ah still one of my favorite battle themes from the FF series! The intro to the song always gives me the feel good goosebumps xD. Laguna, Kiros and Ward, I wish they would do like a side game with them to show what happens in between each of the FF8 dream sequences all the way up to Esthar maybe lol.
Oh man, Lagnua's theme. This was one of my favorite songs in this game, besides Breezy.
Yeah Uematsu was really experimenting starting with 8. There is a joke that the he was drunk when he made FF9 soundtrack.
LAGUNA, KIROS and WARD
This gang is SOLID
The best Song for the best Trio.
This is a Certified Hood Classic.
One of the best of FF8, and one of my favourites to play in Theatrhythm... actually most of the FF8 in Theathythm is great.
YESS It is THE song of FF8 xD I freaking love this song you have no idea, its just so catchy and bopping I can't help but dance to it everytime I hear it lmao
Geoff plays guitar did a synth version of this. Highly recommend it.
My fav track in all of the FF series, right there XD
The giddy "OOOOOOOOOOooooooo" made my day.
you should hear Distant World's Orchestrated version! it's awesome
Song make perfect sense with context! As you well know from ff7 remake!
Not gonna lie, this is the first game I played and first time I'm hearing this theme make me feeling great
I still hear the machineguns
Waltz For The Moon 🌙 is another classic track and very different from everything else too
I think the theme really fits Laguna's whacky, aloof character.
Great track
I personally love the official remix of this song used for Dungeon Hero X.
"I dreamt I was a moron..."
2:35 Cascading claps or a man shooting his machine gun?
FF8 is such a weird game in a lot of right ways and the soundtrack reflects it well
You will miss this music when it is done. It is a treat.
Eargasm achieved 1:14
This song absolutely slaps man. God it's definitely in my top 5 of all FF series lol
The music of FFVIII is just one of the reasons it's my favorite.
90's techno banger
