I really wish Betty had woken up and seen Dan for who he really was: a philanderer, dishonest about money, a lawyer who used the law to bully others, and someone who threw away the mother of his children, along with his children, for a 21-year-old high school graduate who was fired from Delta Airlines for vulgar behavior with a passenger. It would have been so much better if Betty had taken her considerable brains and talents and made a life for herself without Dan. I can't understand putting up with as much grief as she did (and causing as much grief as she caused) just for the sake of money. Money can't buy you happiness or peace of mind. I appreciate that the new series has approached the story from a different perspective than the Meredith Baxter shows did. I went through something similar, and it truly makes you insane. The things that Dan Broderick did to this woman, and the fact that he had control of the whole legal community in San Diego made it impossible for her to get justice. Do I think they should’ve been murdered? Of course not. But I can understand where his behavior pushed her over the edge.
The Meredith Baxter one was clearly biased... they made Dan out to be a saint... Meredith was amazing but the story left so much truth out. Dirty John is far more accurate. Amanda looks nothing like Betty but has her DOWN. Dan was an asshole.. Linda just went along with him.

She absolutely takes no responsibility for her actions. He had long ago checked out even before Linda came along. Therefore, just when Betty could have enjoyed the benefits of both of their hard work, Dan gives a young woman, alleged to not even have a high school leaving diploma in her c.v., the position of his P.A.! I never agreed with Betty having murdered two people but it was a classic case of Dan having "gas lighted" her! I really wish Betty had woken up and seen Dan for who he really was: a philanderer, dishonest about money, a lawyer who used the law to bully others, and someone who threw away the mother of his children, along with his children, for a 21-year-old high school graduate who was fired from Delta Airlines for vulgar behavior with a passenger. It would have been so much better if Betty had taken her considerable brains and talents and made a life for herself without Dan. I can't understand putting up with as much grief as she did (and causing as much grief as she caused) just for the sake of money. Money can't buy you happiness or peace of mind. Some of the jurors were holding out for manslaughter and others for murder 1 with premeditation. I would have voted for murder 1 because these murders were obviously premeditated. Agreed. Granted, all three of them were not the nicest of people, but I'm sad that no one gave any real thought for those children: they just wanted to win. Terrible. I do believe that they loved to antagonize her, but all the nonsense between them (ESPECIALLY the murders) should not have happened. Plus, for all the times she cursed him out on voicemail and vandalized his home, did it ever occur to her that this is my children's home and lives I'm ruining? Therapy does work. I feel for the four of them. I know they're all in their 40s now with their own lives and families, but I can understand their respective viewpoints. The younger son and younger daughter (Rhett and Lee) want her out because terrible as the crimes are, they probably feel that's their only parent left and that she's not a threat. I appreciate that the new series has approached the story from a different perspective than the Meredith Baxter shows did. I went through something similar, and it truly makes you insane. The things that Dan Broderick did to this woman, and the fact that he had control of the whole legal community in San Diego made it impossible for her to get justice. Do I think they should’ve been murdered? Of course not. But I can understand where his behavior pushed her over the edge.
The Meredith Baxter one was clearly biased... they made Dan out to be a saint... Meredith was amazing but the story left so much truth out. Dirty John is far more accurate. Amanda looks nothing like Betty but has her DOWN. Dan was an asshole.. Linda just went along with him.

Unfortunately Betty was driven to destroy Dan for cheating on her, fearing her cushy life was coming to an end ....loosing the money the cars the houses that came with Dan status ...clearly she’s made the worse choice in her life !!! As you said, she could have turned her back to both of them, and live her life re- newed !!! And maybe one day, if lucky she would have seen their marriage crumble ...but no, revenge tastes better than any riches ... and Betty unfortunately choose A GUN to satisfy the wrath she’s harboured for their betrayal ...
Resulting leaving her four kids PARENTLESS by been the judge and executioner and herself landing locked up, for maybe the rest of her life ...
I call it DEVINE JUSTICE !!! And as you said, everything comes back to us, good or bad, and when it comes ....five fold ...

My mom retired from the prison Betty is at. She only worked on the woman’s side for about a year then was transferred to the men’s. I asked her is there anyone you’ve met while working that you feel sorry for and she said Betty Broderick so I looked her up. She does deserve to be there but it’s still a sad story.

He flaunted the affair at work, denied it for a year and called her crazy, he was bringing in $200,000 a month and she was supposed to be thrilled at getting $16,000 a month for 10 months ?? She literally worked 3 jobs pregnant until delivery so Dan could just study and not work. They bullied her to the point it literally DROVE her crazy.
