- Here are my first impressions of Easyrig's new Stabil Light. I've been waiting for them to release a smaller & cheaper version of their very popular Stabil G2 Arm and this newest model sure didn't disappoint. So sit back and enjoy as I compare the performance of the original Minimax to this new version.
Enjoy 😊

Best video I’ve been able to find on the easy rig stabil light. Thank you for helping me making up my mind
Thanks man :) Glad you found it helpful
Your editing. Chef’s kiss. ( because it worked), MAY THE CZcams ALGORITHM BLESS HIM!
Love a good Chef's kiss 😂 Thanks Noah. All hail the glorious algorithm!!!!!
@@HeyAdamGrasso lol it worked
Awesome video! Thank you for this!
You’re welcome :) thanks for making such an amazing piece of gear 🔥
I also bought Easyrig Stabil Light. Thank you for the wonderful video.
Glad to hear man :) I'm sure you'll love using it. And thank you for the kind words about the video ☺
Nice video man. Gimbal and Easyrig for the win!
Thanks Phil. Agreed, it's such a fun setup to use. Especially when your arms and back aren't completely dead after shooting a take for 30 seconds 😂
Thanks for the video, the difference is very clear, the stabil arm almost gets rid of the up-down movement completely. I need to get this 😁👌🏻
You're welcome Marton. Yeah the difference is pretty clear to my eyes. It's the only issue I had with the normal Minimax so incredibly happy that @easyrig released a product that fixes this 🔥
Jump up jump up and get down. Had a lot of fun with this.
Haha. Was so much fun to film this with you Harry :) Thanks again for helping out
Very insightful, thanks! Already have the standard MINIMAX but now I'm seriously considering to upgrade the arm because of this video. Only gripe seems to be that the camera/gimbal hangs very low... But I understand it's b/c of the long gimbal grip and not the Easyrig. Short PSA: Every standard MINIMAX with a serial number upwards from MM8179 can be upgraded with the STABIL LIGHT arm! *yay*
Would you guys be willing to make a video showing how to properly set up the Easyrig Stabil?
12:48 Harry is runnin with an expensive rig!!! Wouldn't be so funny if he doesnt come back xD
Great video! For those who haven't tried Minimax I just want to add that the standard version is wonderful for taking off weight (I use it all the time, never get tired in my back or arms) but it actually enhances the up/down bumps when you walk. You'll get a much smoother result if you walk without it. I'll probably get a Stabil light to address this. Oh, and we absolutely do NOT say "Schtabil" in Sweden! :) (that would be in Germany perhaps)
Great video that explains the key differences! I'm looking at this version Vs the Tilta Float that also has an entire ecosystem built for the DJI RS3/RS2 series that supports dual handle grip which i currently use. The float is a bit cheaper as well.
You’re welcome :). The Tilta Float has its own vest and arm system right?
@@HeyAdamGrasso Yes it has. Looks more optimized to use it for gimbals.
Hey Adam GREAT comparison video!!! One question though - do have any experience with the EASYRIG SERENE ARM attachment on the standard Easyrig setup? Thanks man and keep up the great work.
Hey Frank :) I've never tried the Serene arm, but I would presume that the native Easy Rig Stabil would be a little better. Also the serene arm is around 1000usd so it's probably better to just get the stabil so you don't have to spend time taking apart the easy rig in order to add on the serene arm
Hi! Thank you for the very good demonstration of the gear and also the differences. Could you tell something about the weight of the both versions? The other question, what was the longest focal length you used with easy rig and what do you think is the longest focal length to walk with following a moving object which is in a longer 10-15m distance? Thank you, for your answer, with best regards J.
Just got my stabil light a few days ago to go with crane 3s and c200. I'll let you know!
Awesome :) 🔥
How was it? Bc that’s what I’m trying to do
@@haikdadras647 ideal setup. I went and got the smallrig ring to make it better though. it caps out the weight so you may want to drop the side handle on the c200, which is what I do most times on the crane. Ans if you are really tight with weight, use the smaller battery. But aside from that it is now my go to setup.
@@SpiderVideo thanks you! I really appreciate the quick response may I have your Instagram?
I have the RS2 and just got the Easy rig minimax 3 days ago. May return it after watching this.
If you can afford the extra cost for the Minimax with the Stabil Light, I'd definitely recommend it. Makes a big difference, especially when operating gimbals.
@@HeyAdamGrasso yeah I can afford it. In noticed the stability light is sold as an attachment too so I can just buy that attachment itself and add it to the backpack. I’m still in the return period time but see that the stabil light isn’t available as of yet though. I’ll see what happens then make a decesion. Thanks for the vid btw.
Double check with Easyrig cause I believe you also need to upgrade the powerpack on the normal easyrig in order to use it with the new Stabil light version.
Shoot them an email though and they'll explain what you'd need to do to upgrade your current minimax to the new model :)
Is there a big significant difference between a Minimax Stabil G2 arm and easyrig vario 5 Stabil G2 ?
Thank you for this video, Adam. Have you gotten to do much handheld work on the stabil light since? I'll be using with a ~12 LB rig, no IBIS. Curious how it performs while walking, as my current minimax is quite bad for this. appreciate your time.
You're welcome Ben. I've done some projects handheld with it. It's definitely better than the original minimax at mitigating that up and down movement you get from walking. Is it 2k worth of a difference? That's a harder one to say. If you can sell your old minimax for a decent price, it might be worth the upgrade.
You can just get the STABIL on it‘S own and upgrade your existing one. That‘s what I‘m considering :)
Great video! What attachment do you use to attach the gimbal to the stabil?
Hey Robert. It's the 'Easyrig quick release camera mount'. When you buy an Easy Rig you can choose to have this mount or the standard camera hook mount
Hi awesome video, I just received my easyrig mini max with stabil light arm, I understand that the top arm needs to be in the “middle” balance holding the gimble+camera, but what about the back knob that controls the rope tension, what is the proper amount of tension of the rope? Are you supposed to let the rope be loose enough so the camera drops slightly? Or super tight? please help and thank you
Hey :) it should be tight enough that you can let go of your camera rig and the rope doesn’t extend or retract.
Hey there, Adam. Nice demo video. I'd be primarily using the easy rig with my C300 mkiii, which is built out super heavy, but I see that you're also using it with the RS2.....I've got the Ronin S....So, if you're familiar with this gimbal, is it compatible if mounted underslung? Thanks - From Portland, Oregon.
It’s really about the weight of your rig. As long as it fits within the range, it’ll work just fine :)
What are you using to connect the RS2 to the Stabil Light? Looks like you removed the clamp that came with the Stabil Light but any advice is appreciated.
Hey Collin. So you can order the easy rig with either the normal clamp or with their new quick release. I'd recommend the quick release cause it's way more versatile than the clamp. Plus if you ever wanted to use the clamp, you can always buy it separately and attach it to the quick release.
@@HeyAdamGrasso Thanks for your response! Very helpful.
@@CrimpGripProductions No worries man :)
hello, what are the names of the handles you have attached to the gimbal, where can you buy them?
They're the 'DJI RS Twist Grip Dual Handles'. You can buy them from the DJI store online
ok thanks, and how did I connect the gimbal to Easyrig?@@HeyAdamGrasso
What if you need to do low angle shot that you have to pull down the string. What will happen?
The string extends and retracts, so you can just pull down your camera to get low to the ground :)
Great video! I have some questions. What grip were you using with the DJI? Plus, how is it connected to the Easy Rig? These are critical connections between the camera, DJI, and Easy Rig. It seems as if you've got a great solution. Please share more details. Thanks!
Hey man. So the grip is called the DJI RS2 & RSC2 Twist Grip Dual Handle To connect the gimbal to the Easy Rig, the easy rig comes with quick-release connectors that you simply screw into the bottom of the gimbal. It's the same hole that you screw the DJI's stand into. Hope this helps :)
@@HeyAdamGrasso Thanks!
@@fatar9075 you’re welcome:)
Great video. How reliable do you say is the method your attaching the rs2 to the easyrig?
Hey Tayo. It's reliable. You just have to watch out for the quick release that you attach on the gimbal, cause if you don't tighten it up properly, as you use the gimbal it will slowly get looser and looser. Meaning that it can eventually unscrew itself from the gimbal. So just make sure that you tighten it to the RS2 properly, ideally with a wrench/spanner so it's as tight as possible before use.
@@HeyAdamGrasso thanks for the tips
Standard looks very stable to me. I don't think we need stabil light, unless running and shooting crazily.
Yeah unless you’re moving the camera around a lot or doing complex tracking moves, the standard mini max is fine :)
@@HeyAdamGrasso true. Surface is also important. I would choose to get Stabil light if i need to walk and shoot in beach sand or similar place that i cant control my steps easily.
I appreciated your video... What happened to the follow-up video though?
Thanks Scott. I got so focused on other projects/CZcams videos that I haven't managed to put together a follow up for this. Might end up making it in the near future if people wanna see it :)
I just received my Easyrig Stabil Light. There does not appear to be instructions on how to piece it together and set it up. Do you have any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks!
Hey Fatar. Check out Easyrig's website. They should have an instruction manual on there
@@HeyAdamGrasso I did check out their web site and did not find anything. So, after several contacts with Easyrig I finally did receive from them a helpful video - czcams.com/video/Xay7UnCnfDA/video.html. Thanks for your reply!
Hi,this is very informative video! However, as someone never use any kind of easyrig, I'm wondering is this going to put all the weight to your back or waist or legs. Because the easy rig seems syill works like a backpack. Which means the weight is still on back and waist. That's not what the operator want, we want the weight on hip and legs as much as possible, so I'm consider easy rig and tilts float. Because the float seems weight free from waist and above. But the down side is you will need dji rs2 or 3 for it's most potential.
Hey Leon. Thanks :) The weight is all distributed to the waist/hips/thighs, not your back. So your upper and lower back + your shoulder get a lot of the strain and weight taken off them.
@@HeyAdamGrasso Thanks!!! I really love shoot with out electronic stablizer, if the easyrig can free my back from pain, then I will 100% use it over any system that requires gimable.
@@hellozzh You'll still need a stabiliser if you want the 'gimbal stedicam look' an easy rig isn't a gimbal.
when will you do the follow up video? :P
Hey rhapsodist. Hopefully soon. I wanna do a few more projects with the stabil before I can make a properly informed and in-depth review about it. Don't wanna just rush one out for the views if I can't provide as much value as I would like to in the breakdown :)
Take a shot everytime they say 'bounce'
*video ends and I'm passed out on the floor* 🍹🤒
I'm sorry but that handheld comparison is a bit pointless with the IBIS of the camera activated and a tiny little camera without proper grip. Would be interesting to see the difference with a rigged up camera with two sturdy handles and no IBIS.
your friend looks like Heath Ledger
😂 I'll let him know
You need a far heavier rig to utilise this
You’d be surprised how well it works with the rig I used in this video. Definitely a noticeable difference vs the non STABIL version
Isn't you camera too light?
2024..it's a gimmick..they aren't meant for steady shots..they'll never give you stable shots..gimbals and vest stabilizers will..
It's not supposed to be a stabiliser. It's supposed to help you hold heavier camera setups for longer and reduce a few footsteps. But it's by no means a replacement for any kind of stabiliser.
comeon guys first impression and narrative made me cringe :(
Narrative?
