Yes, it was more of a slow burn. Us viewers NEED to understand what motivates Reacher and HOW he does what he does. Good character development. He has a code of ethics, but he also uses brutal force when he feels it is warranted.
He is a goal oriented individual. When they made it personal, he reciprocates in kind.
Also, the slow building relationship dynamic with Roscoe. He respects her, but she also respects him, but that doesn't mean they don't give each other sh*t.
"Details matter" is a type of Reacher-ism. I've read the entire series...and it sounds like what Reacher would say, but I'm not sure he actually says THAT in a book.
In the book Killing Floor he said, "Details. Evidence gathering. Surveillance. It's the basis of everything. You've got to settle down and watch long enough and hard enough to get what you need."
But in each book, there are a LOT of repeat quotes and new quotes. There is even a novella called Jack Reacher's Rules. He has a lot of them. Reading all the books, novellas and short stories...you KNOW Jack Reacher...and can answer like he would answer most of the time.

I'm rereading Killing Floor right now...should finish this evening/tomorrow morning. When I am finished, we will rewatch the season...so that we can discuss the similarities/differences.

I absolutely love it!
This has character building and motivation but every episode has it's own feel. Considering the book it had a few moments of calm I do think they might of consulted Lee or added some more backstory in. Although it showcases the stature, hurt and thinking Jack Reacher has in his life and what he wants to do.

Vagrants stay in one place. A hobo travels. A hobo can have money as well. Vagrants typically are the ones you see with signs sitting on the side of road. Hobos you see hopping on moving trains and foraging for natural food sources in the wilderness surrounding and between cities. Big difference. No judgement just knowledge.

The grey haired actor Bruce McGill was Jack Dalton from the OG series of Macgyver from 1985 but probably before your time.

Get a job and do it. Don’t be careless. It may have worked for some people but there a small chance it could for you. Drop out sure but have a decent job to back up everything. Also learn about networking and make the right friends it’s who you know not what you know.
Why they cast Lana Lang from Smallville in this is just insane. She's a terrible actresss
