    I had a NT1100 as a loaner whilst my AT was in for a service. It had the comfort pack and quick shifter. I really really liked it - most comfortable bike I have ever ridden and no slouch neither. I really think I will go the NT route when I can wean myself off the AT.

    In April I took delivery of a NT1100 DCT and I've now completed 4000 miles on it. The DCT is great and when needed i can override the engine program with paddle shift 😊. The only thing that is hit or miss is the Android auto, it suits itself when it hooks up and i still haven't achieved Audio propmts from navigation. Thus far very happy 😁

      I also suffered from unreliable connectivity with Android Auto on my NT. I connected my headset to the NT with the "GPS" selection on the headset.,,, and I bought a high speed USB data cable. I'm not sure if either of those were responsible for the improvement but my experience is substantially improved. Might try that. Still takes ages to boot up and occasionally I need to restart the headset but overall it works about 90%. An area obviously in dire need of improvement by Honda. Overall love my NT (and of course DCT)

    Another great couple of videos Tony. Spectacular scenery that you rode though as well. It’s given me some ideas for a trip my wife and I are planning to do next year. 👏🏻😁

    Great second video, the quality of the videos was excellent, you must have put a lot of time and effort into them, the scenery was breathtaking, out of all the bikes I would love a go on a Goldwing, it reminds me of the Judge Dread bike, but the X-Adv was also really interesting.

    I have a NC750x DCT, and it is a great bike, and the more I ride it the better it gets, sorry the more I appreciate it. I have been riding for 40yrs+ from sport bikes to a 1500wing to big singles and this is just a great bike

      My riding history mirrors yours albeit maybe 5vyears longer! 😊 My introduction to DCT was with the XADV. Loved it. I sold it to upgrade to the newer version XADV, but my timing coincided with massive supply chain woes. After a year of waiting it never came. Fortunately I was able to get one of the early NT1100s. 😁👍Love it. But, to be honest the 750 motor in the XADV and NC750X shifts overall a bit better/smoother. I'm now a "convert" and it seems Honda has me as a "captive customer" as DCT is the first requirement I have for my motorcycle considerations. But, after 18,000 miles on my NT1100 I don't see it leaving my garage anytime soon. 😉

    DCT is a very clever system.
    To be honest I've not tried it.
    I'd be interested to see a back to back, tight manoeuvre course with the same bike with and without DCT. A u turn, filtering in slow traffic, figure of 8, etc etc..
    Beautiful place to ride any bike, though.
    Safe, happy travels 👍

    I would have thought that with an aging rider population (in UK at least) who suffer more aches and pains as we get closer to the end of our riding life that DCT would become more attractive. Left wrist and shoulder and left leg having to do less work does tend to overcome some of the prejudices! However, quick-shifters now muddy the waters when making a decision as there's about 10KG and £750 difference between an NT1100 with DCT or with the quickshifter.

    • @sunrisejak2709
      @sunrisejak2709 Před 10 měsíci

      I get your point but a quick shifter does not have the most important attribute of DCT. That's the ability to fully come to a stop and take off without the clutch. Creeping along in a massive traffic jam and a quick shifter is useless. With DCT it's a delight. Relieves fatigued left hand or left "forearm pump". The acceleration away from a light is just perfect everytime. With DCT the bike never stalls and the additional dimension to simply enjoying more aspects of a ride is vastly more relevant than a quick shifter. 😎

    I got my NT1100 2 weeks ago, it's the metallic grey, not DCT but I have used DCT and like it, but went with manual as that was available.
    It's so easy to ride and is comfortable with stock seat, but will get comfort seat at some point. With regards to the looks, I like it and friends and strangers all look and like it. Going to Newcastle on Saturday then on to Inverness on Sunday for a week. Looking forward to it.

    That's my local quick spin you were riding at the Vee. And I never get bored with the views. Those roads are fairly typical of what we have here, pretty much everywhere, though the scenery there is exceptional. You should definitely spend a bit more time in Munster if you get a chance. The number and variety of routes is endless.

    The main issue with the NT1100 is its bland looks with are then hampered further by the boring colour options offered by Honda , if they offered it in some distinct colours like bright red (like the old VFR800) or even in the lovely Wine Red colour option seen on the Goldwing it would completely change the look of NT and lift its looks immensely. Love the Irish scenery , definitely one to add to the European tour list.

    Nice review I guess Motorcycles are going the way of Automobiles, with Automatic transmissions, infotainment, interface, lots of computers and the other tech.
    I'm not knocking or putting it down, as someone with arthritis having an automatic option is nice, I still prefer a manual gearbox for now.
    I'm now 61 and have been working on bikes and cars since I was 15 I have gone from using feeler gauges on ignition points and special wire tools for carb jets and using a refrigerator sized box to analyze vehicles to using a hand held computer to look at all kinds of data.
    DCT for me, not right now but in the future if I can still hold up a motorcycle why not.
    LOL pretty soon with the electric bikes we won't worry about shifting unless you get one of the electric bikes with a transmission.
    Have you thought about reviewing some Electric Motorcycles or is the models available in the UK limited?

    Totally converted to DCT, even if "true" bikers say: "it is not a real bike". i tested this gearbox system on the CMX 1100 rebel, and i founded it very comfortable and easy to use.
    And if you want to "pilot" it, you have the two buttons on the handlebar.
    This gearbox is very intuitive and very smooth, you don't feel gear coming up or down.
    In sport mode i feel than engine break was a little bit "heavy", but not so much.
    Don't forget to set neutral when you're waiting at the lights or stop signal...
    I'm not used to offroad riding, what do you think about this device on the Africa twin ? is it compliant ?

    • @sunrisejak2709
      @sunrisejak2709 Před 10 měsíci

      Is it true you need to select neutral when for example stopped at a long red traffic light in "D"? I'm not sure of the clutch mechanisms but switching to "neutral" while stopped and idling it means both clutches are disengaged and "slipping"? I wonder what the Honda engineers would say. The operator manual doesn't advise this. At least I don't remember reading that but my reading comprehension is not what it used to be! 🤣
