I remember seeing this as a young kid, at like 7 or 8. I was watching the camera pan back from the final scene and i liked the music and shots of clouds in the sky, so i kept watching. Shortly after that when EVH starts playing i was hypnotized by the sound of this song, its all such a great composition. By the end of the song and credits i didnt even know what to do, i just sat there and tried to take it in what i had just heard. It completely blew my mind.
When my daughter was young. I took her to this movie 🎬 Sat her in the FRONT ROW..then told her when you hear thunder in the distance...ITS TIME TO COME INSIDE! ESPECIALLY IN TEXAS!!

I have no idea what genre to call this number, and have never found another piece that has a similar sound and vibe. As far as I can tell, it's a very special one-of-a-kind jam.
That first low note bend at 1:40 always gives me chills. I picture a nasty grungy dark looking tornado in my mind like it’s coming for you. If a tornado could sing that’s what it would sound like
I always liked this version due to the specific chords used, the rambling, kind of exploratory tone of most of it, plus the occasional pauses and individual plucking of the strings. It made me feel like I was standing in the middle of a field (I live in the eastern plains) and watching the waving corn or soy or wheat and nearby a storm was casting dark shadows on the land and the ominous sky hinted it might drop a tornado just for me. It was a dark, contemplative song that I absolutely loved.

A guy at work once asked a bunch of us, "if you had a theme song, what would it be?" While others were saying this, no that, oh, I got it, etc, I said straight out, Respect the Wind. He never heard of it, he googled it, listened to it, on his phone, and he loved it. I told him, "now, go home and play it on your system as loud as you possibly can.....that is my theme song". He discovered what I was talking about!

Mark Mancina wrote the score. He did a fine job, but is done after about 90 seconds, he was wise enough to let Eddie close this one out. I don't see how you turn down a piece of music like this if offered. I always wish we got more music like this from him. Edward Van Halen was the caliber of musician that only comes around a few times a century.
I love Respect The Wind! Eddie did a masterpiece here, along with many others! He had a way of making that guitar obey his every command! Hard to imagine if he and Alex stayed with their original plan where Eddie was the drummer and Alex on guitar!? It became painfully obvious, Alex said, that Eddie was better on the guitar than he was, so they switched! Brotherly love right there! And the rest is history! ✌😎🎸🎶💝

In my opinion, the tornadoes in Twister look and sound better than the ones in Into the Storm.
