This was a shock to Armys coz Jimin really was out of his shell. He is very conscious of “swearing” but here he let it all out! His FACE album was made during pandemic: his feelings during those hard times. If you know them since the beginning you would understand what im trying to say. When this dropped our jaws were on the floor. Jimin is known for being a perfectionist in giving the best performances but in this chapter 2 solo era he was really up there setting high standards for kpop. He is known as King of Kpop but he is beyond kpop now. He is amazing but very humble, well mannered person thats why we love him more. He is also dominating the fashion industry. The only idol having 2 Global Ambassadorship (Dior and Tiffany&Co). His “Like Crazy” song went Top 1 Billboard Hot 100 the only korean to do so. Now theres an upcoming OST for Fast & Furious Movie called “Angel Pt2” on May 18. Hope you could react to it as well. Im loving your channel. More power!
I was thinking about his song he did awhile ago called Filter… he is not anyone’s filter anymore. Glad to see him breaking out and showing himself in these songs.
Did you notice through the whole song that the dancers kept him captive? Every time he was close to breaking free, they pulled him back in. Also notice how his moves were different then the dancers. I think that was symbolic in him breaking away to be free.
yeah he said it wrote it dueing covid when he was depressed and all the bad thoughts were bring him down but he over came/broke free of those negative thoughts.
So glad you liked it. It is an anthem for sure. Jimin’s often the been the target of a lot of hate and even death threats. And also just the general pressure to say within the confines of the ‘kpop’ box. So set me free indeed.

❣️ Jimin’s “Set Me Free Pt.2’, it’s everything & more then I could hope for, Jimin’s amazing artistry, his so beyond spectacular,, so mesmerizing, phenomenal performance! The song, Jimin’s vocals, his dancing, the amazing choreography, also the amazing backup dancers, the lyrics he wrote, the music he composed as well as being involved in the production! Jimin was hands on, involved with every facet! No wonder the in-house legendary producer for BigHit Pdogg, who worked with Jimin throughout the whole album, stated that “in 2023 K-pop will be ended by Park Jimin”! Seeing this made me that much more excited, for the full album, Jimin’s “FACE” released on March 24, along with his main song ‘Like Crazy’ MV. Though Jimin’s song ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, blew me away , meeting all my expectations & then some, I was also not totally surprised, because indeed Jimin is now ‘set free’ from the confines of being part of a group, to now be able to open up full throttle and ‘finally’ be able to release all that he held back for so many yrs! Jimin has been involved in every facet of creating this album! Hands on all the way, perfectionist that he is, including writing lyrics, composing, as well as being heavily involved in production! Jimin’s true, real, inner self will be finally seen in all its raw, authentic, amazing, heartfelt, passionate, emotional, sincere glory! This is aside from Jimin’s full range, hardly ever being shown, aside from high notes, but being finally able to show his full registry, mid range as well as lower registry as well! I’ve always been so frustrated not being able to see as well as hear Jimin’s full capacity of talent. So often not being fully taken advantage of, but that comes with being part of a group, that has every single member having so much talent that it’s been so limiting for Jimin, especially him being so selfless, making a point of having others shine before himself. Now the spotlight will be just on him! Though we’ve seen Jimin’s amazingly spectacular, so mesmerizingly outstanding solo performances before. But now, as Jimin himself, mentioned, he’ll indeed be showing the depth of his raw inner self! Jimin has also said that with all the members now exploring & expressing their own individual talent , it will just make BTS that much stronger when they come back together as a group! In an interview Jimin explained: "I tried to express the grand scale of the song and [the ideas of] determination, passion, and overcoming. “Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free - not someone else. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free. I would say the song has the energy of a light in the darkness. I wanted to express that kind of picture everyone has in their head - a ray of light coming into the darkness is the only thing you can see. If I had to say specific colors, I’d say black and white."
Jimin is a trained contemporary dancer; he was the top of his arts school before joining BigHit and BTS. The hip hop element for his SOLO work is new. BTS started as a hiphop group, but Jimin is a vocalist and all of his previous solo songs within BTS and soundcloud releases have been more of pop/ballad/R&B vibe so this being his pre-release for his first solo album "FACE" was shocking... and AWESOME! The tattoos on his chest/neck are temporary; it's an old German poem that fits the theme of the song, but Jimin DOES have a lot of real ink. You can see a glimpse of his tattoo "Nevermind" on his right ribcage in the beginning of the MV, he also has a "7" on his inner left index finger (all the members have a 7 somewhere), "13" on his inner left wrist, "Young" on the back of his left arm, "Forever" on the back of his right arm, "Youth" behind his left ear, and 5 moon phases down his spine (you can see the top of these at the end). Jungkook, the youngest, is the only other member to have a lot of ink; he has a full sleeve on his right arm and tatts on his right hand and his "7" is behind his left ear.
You have everything all twisted with Jimin's bio......let me school you! Before Jimin was a trainee at Bighit, he already excelled in Hip-hop, winning all his competitions. He was tops in his class in contemporary dance where he was offered a scholarship. He also excelled in four different martial arts which he was able to incorporate in his dancing and as far as singing, Jimin literally had to self teach himself bc the company only gave Jk, V and Jin professional training with their vocals. Next time do some research before pretending you know all about Jimin.

You tell me which of these songs of his in the BTS discography is even remotely "hiphop"... "Serendipity", "Lie", "Friends", "Filter" or his YT/Soundcloud/OST releases, "Promise", "With You", "Christmas Love"... this has nothing to do with his dancing ability or the styles he's good at. I could link a bunch of bangtan bombs or skits from albums where Jimin tries to rap and ends up giggling instead. I am PRAISING his ability to do so now. I also didn't mention his martial arts because it literally has nothing to do with what I was trying to say. Nor does the order or time any of the vocal line spent as trainees. ❣Jimin, growing up, since quite young age, even pre mid school, was always into hip hop & r&b music. Aside from Rain, Taeyang, & BoA, Korean idols, known not just fro amazing vocals, but their dance ability, Jimin was also heavily influenced, with other role models, such as Chris Brown, & Usher. So it goes to follow he’d also appreciate other equally well known artists who also were amazing dancers & performers aside from vocal ability. It also goes without saying that Jimin, was indeed heavily influenced by MJ. He even taught Jin to moon dance for Dynamite MV, also Jimin was the one that suggested other MJ moves also for BTS song “Dynamite”. Jimin already at early age of 10, started studying hip hop at the renowned Just Dance Academy, in Busan, city where Jimin’s from, which teaches all the many different styles of hip hop. There is even a post made that shows a performance where young again 11 Jimin in 2007, not only performed already, but was facing the stage, right front side, but later on went in front and did a solo. JIMIN also competed, excelling in popping, & isolation moves, winning every competition. JIMIN also since a little boy, trained 8 yrs in various forms of martial arts: Taekwondo (blackbelt), Hapkido, Kendo, & Chinese martial arts. This was aside from still attending middle school Jimin, where he was already into all kinds of sports, including being part of soccer team,, but also basketball, even joined after school billiards, also excelling in track & field throughout his schooling. Then, while going to Busan Highschool of the Arts, he then also studied & performed contemporary. Media even called Jimin “The rising star of Busan” after seeing Jimin perform on stage during a huge festival. JIMIN also studied, some ballet as well as even traditional Korean dance. But Jimin’s main love was always hip hop. Though he did enjoy dancing contemporary, which Jimin indeed excels at, to this day all his dance movements, have his exquisite body placement, amazing elegant, poised, clean lines, as well as he also always stands, even without dancing, with out-turned feet, his foot positions always end up while dancing in classical out turned foot position, placement that classically trained dancers have. Jimin found he could express himself even more through contemporary dance. Very few dancers have the ability to dance as many styles of dance as well as have the ability to incorporate all of them, even his gravity defying, martial arts, moves in his dance.
Yeah and his biggest dance influences are Taeyang and Brian Puspos.
@@_birdie - Well already did mention Taeyang, but Rain also was another Korean idol that he also looked up to and was inspired by! BoA an amazing female legendary artist aside from her vocals was also another idol known for her dancing, more so then other female idols at the time! Jimin has mentioned that her album was the first he ever purchased! To this day I believe his outstandingly amazing body rolls he learned from BoA, have you seen “Eat me Up” MV? Lol! But it goes with out saying that not only does he live Brian Puspos choreography since he’s the one who choreographed for most of Chris Browns songs, as well as Drake, Bieber & more, but there is a mutual love & respect bt Jimin & Puspos who was the one that did choreograph Serendipity! As well as restive both The choreo he did for Drake’s Own It for Jimin’s performance, as well as Chris Browns song that Jimin performed during a Festa performance of the 3J”s. Recently Puspos during an interview even said raving about Jimin, that Jimin dances his choreography then he does himself! Plus when further questioned, he mentioned that some moves Jimin made in Serendipity, Jimin added himself. Jimin always tends to tweak, adjust choreo to further embellish, enhance his performance that much more! Always changing things up a bit! He does the same with his vocals as well, at times going lower using chest voice with lower registry, then the expected high note! Lol!
Jimin is the only member of BTS who is a classically trained dancer and was top student he also learned popping and locking and is also a black belt in Taekwondo and is a Kendo master having studied it for 8 years. He adds the extra magic to BTS performances and is also an amazing vocalist and extremely kind and caring. An angel. He's also the member who has the most vile things said about him, fans of other groups slander him call him fat, misgender him and send him death threats regularly. The kpop industry is vicious. I refuse to support other groups because of their vile fans who often band together to try stop BTS achievements. I hope you enjoy your trip down the BTS rabbit hole because they have discography back to 2013, many amazing songs, performances at award shows and their own shows that they make for us ARMY. Our fanbase is almost 1 billion strong and are not all teenage girls. We are all ages I'm 58 UK army, all genders, sexualities, races, nationalities. They say BTS finds you when you need them the most and I certainly think that's true. I discovered BTS at the start of the pandemic and I can't express enough how much I admire and respect them. I've seen many groups come and go and I'm telling you that they are the Beatles of these times.i just wanted to add something on you said it reminds you if Chris Brown, he's a woman beater so please don't compare BTS to him. Not judging but if you were sharing a joint remember there are very young army watching so be mindful of you want to be respected as genuine BTS reactioners

2.) "Hip Hop Lover" from Dark and Wild (no mv, but lots of lyric videos and live performances)
3.) Born Singer from Proof (first covered in 2013, but officially released last year)
There's so many more amazing group, subunit, and solo work from this group. You're in for a ride.
This was such a good release bc of the strength it shows. Not only Jimin’s dancing, but vocals & lyric phrasing. Honestly, all of the BTS members are killing it with their solos. Before Bighit, he already excelled in Hip-hop......popping, krumping and locking, incorporating his martial arts skills. He was offered a scholarship in contemporary dance but turned it down to be an idol in kpop. He also has skills in ballet as well, in others words......he is an all rounder!

BTS is definitely hip hop influenced they pay homage to many of their idols in their song Hip Hop Phile. It would be great to check out that song. No mv but there’s a live performance from their Japan tour.
Kpop grew out of the western musical influences, hip hop , R&B, and indie are heavy influences to S Korea.

As fantastic as his voice is I am sure you would not be surprised to know he was a top student with a dance major. All disciplines and a black belt and also 8 years Kendo.
Actually, he excells in four different martial arts........Kendo, Taekwondo, hapkido and a fourth at the moment I can't remember the name.
@@cindyyoung3994 he had a few hapkido lessons. we have no idea how many or for how long and what he still remembers because that was probably over a decade ago.
He did some chinese martial arts and got a small scholarship that was for a week in China I believe.

Actually, Sienna Lalau and The Lab dance crew based in LA are the choreographers of this song. BTS and the members use them a lot when they are in concert in the US and Sienna has choreographed numerous routines for songs of theirs. Even J-hope's songs at Lollapalooza were choreographed by Sienna and J-Hope. And they killed it and the dancers on stage too. You might like that performance. He headlined Lollapalooza July 31, 2022. JHope had an hour concert at lollapalooza in Chicago last summer! It was the best concert of my lifetime. He's all over 120 tickets, which broke the record for lollapalooza. Millions of people watched it live online. I am 62 years old. I loved MJ. Other than him I never followed any group/individual. When I found BTS Iinstantly I was hooked. I think because a lot of their music and dancing remind me of MJ. He is somebody they really looked up to. Jimin often comments that he wished he would've had an opportunity to meet MJ. Mad respect for him. If you get a chance check out JHopes concert, you'll love it! The guys are used to working together at seven. So this was the first time that one of them got off on their own. It is downright amazing! The hour goes fast!

Yes, that Our Sensational King' from BTS. He's dance moves, unique voice,and lyrics, everything he does are amazing a the best. Hes is a Performing art who makes masterpieces just like his group. With 3 rappers-RM, Suga, and Jhope. Vocal line Jimin, Jin, V and Jungkook. When they all come together you get the Best,perfect, amazing performance n singing ever. This was Jimins first release from his solo album and bit was most of Army completely taken by surprise. I'm sure other Armies have told you about Jimins innocence, you guys should watch the MV sketch, he almost couldn't say it with a straight face.. Also the "tattoo"is a German poem written in 1889 I believe💜💜💜 not sure you guys knew that Jimin only had about 6 months to train before BTS debut

Powerful exactly. No one but Anitra @saywhatreacts and Rosan @xCeleste has mentioned he used some aspects of Lie choreo in his new song. And ON vibes for sure. ON inspo. Heard this was the last song in the album. Like dang! 0.0 So glad u liked it. =0} So much symbolism too. So deep. I needed a dance practice after. So good! Oh my gosh. Some choreo was from a Jackson Wang song called Blow. The more i watch the more i find things i did not notice on the 1st watch. The body tat German poem is beautiful and very fitting. Heard Sienna Lalau worked on this choreo. Not sure if she created alone or with a team though. UCLA choir was used again. They use them all the time on songs. The spiral/ the golden ratio, shell, 9, metaphors used as usual. The moon series of tats on his back is real. His Nevermind tat on his ribs is real and his 13 tat on his wrist is real too. The German poem on his chest tat was temporary. Jimin also has a 7 tat bet. his fingers on one hand. He has young forever tat above his elbows and youth behind his ear. "Set Me Free" is a track on SUGA's second mixtape "D-2". Jimin said in an interview that the two songs aren't directly correlated, but that the themes are similar in that Yoongi's is about being trapped while Jimin's is the second stage of actually being "set free" so he named his "Pt. 2"

He confirms that It's nod to a track on bandmate Yoongi's second mixtape, D-2. "There isn't a connection, and we weren't trying to divide part one or part two," he explains. I think the dancers in black could represent the doubts, fears and lack of confidence that he suffered at the start. And the autotune voice represents that angry, frustrated inner voice.

I think this is directed inward. He used to be weighed down by trying to be manly enough, good enough, worrying about what others thought and was crazy hard on himself. So happy that he’s at peace and comfortable with who he is. He’s such a beautiful artist. 💜

In my, of course, unbiased opinion this is the best debut among the guys, and that is saying something given how much I truly love Indigo and Jack in the Box. People were floored when they saw JHope's More. It was surprising in a way but also so on brand for JHope. Jimin, well. He has been painted as this polite, funny, and charming guy and I believe those are all true, but he has a soul of an artist. People are thrown off by the auto-tune which is used as an effect to show his inner dialog and opinions from others that have caged him. His response to these things is his singing/rapping voice in a register many have not experienced. I can't think of many that have taken so much hatred. It is now his time to shine and be fully and authentically himself. I am so excited for the album and his live performance on Jimmy Fallon's show.

Jimin sings "set me free" 9 times in each chorus. 9 usually represents fulfilment (e.g. of a cycle) and symbolises awakening and inner wisdom gained through life experiences and struggles.
The dancers' spiral is the Fibonacci spiral. It is found throughout nature and, put simply, represents our ever evolving journey in life.
