Carnarvon Lake, nestled within Kananaskis Country in Alberta, Canada, is a picturesque alpine destination that offers an enchanting hiking and camping experience. This 22-kilometer trail provides adventurers with breathtaking vistas of the Canadian Rockies while also posing certain challenges and dangers.
The hike to Carnarvon Lake begins at the Cat Creek trailhead, where you'll be immediately greeted by lush forests and the melodic sounds of babbling creeks. As you ascend, the trail opens up to vast meadows adorned with wildflowers during the summer months. It's a moderately difficult hike, yet hikers should be prepared for the serious chain climb to ascend up to the lake.
All drone shots were done legally with the proper licenses/permits from legal take off and landing locations.

A little piece of heaven. Beautiful scenery with beautiful music. I absolutely love your channel. Thank you!
So happy to have found your channel! You are a brave and beautiful person. I admire your drive to break your chains. ❤
This was incredible, youtube front page worthy
Your adventures are incredible. Spectacular scenery.
Incredible hike and drone shots. Thank you for risking your life and for bringing us along with you
I guess there is a reason I'm the first person ever to film this place professionally, first ever drone shots up there too. My gift to all of you haha.
Thank you for risking your life to bring us this footage.
Dude. That is nuts.
it really was, it was harder than pharaoh peak but was able to get it done. Pharaoh i folded like a house of cards.
Oh my! 😨 My hands were sweating just watching you do that!! Good for you, hoo boy, that was certainly a challenge. Thanks for sharing the beautiful images⛰
Haha my hands were sweating doing that lol
I was on the edge of my seat.
David, your photography is impossibly beautiful. Glad that boulder missed you (or you missed it). I am loving this channel! 🙏 so much.
cheers, ya im glad it missed me too hah
Your drone shots always blow me away… thanks for taking me back to carnarvon. 😊
My pleasure, I'm not sure I"ll go back haha I'll have to look back in a couple years and enjoy the experience again through my own video. That chain section is something else.
Keep safe
Fantastic video. The views are stunning and your shots are so beautiful. I’m glad you made it back safely. Way too scary for me!
Hey David! Don't feel too bad about stopping when your gut told you to. It is disappointing to not make the summit but better to err on the side of caution. I had to stop about 250 meters from the top of Caldron Peak in Banff a few years ago as I was out of gas and had to retrace the route back over a crazy traverse that I was dreading. Like you, I probably could have summited but I wanted something left in the tank for the traverse because one slip and it would be game over. Good vids!
Cheers buddy, I think it was the chain descent pushing my stress levels. If it were a simple hike out I probably would have taken 15 minutes to chill then crawled up to the diagonal line you can see in the drone shots which would have gotten me up. Better to live another day, enjoy another day
@@IdRatherBeHiking You got it! Better a live donkey than a dead lion as Ernest Shackleton said after turning 93 km from the South Pole in 1909. Hit me up if you want when you're in the Calgary area...I'll climb with ya! Thoroughly enjoying your other channel as well...the Moose is Loose alright...keep on hammering those knuckleheads! 👍
@@therockymountaintrailshaha Cheers buddy
Omg, stunning work my friend! This looks spectacular, absolutely spectacular!
Cheers dude!
Awesome Video David!
thanks Chris
Awesome! Thank you for taking us with you. Love Alberta and B. C.
Bless you for cleaning up and keeping the area pristine.
sitting here trying to work and then looking over at the incredible footage you have, INCREDIBLE, thanks again
Glad you enjoyed it
That's beyond hiking that's rock climbing 👍
I agree with that statement!
Oh my gosh, David!!!!!! I shudder to think if you'd been hit by that freaking rock. This video would never have been made! I can imagine your anger! And respect your ability to take it down and not use it to take down the silly women who pushed the rock down. How stupid of them. Kind of an idiot move to push rocks down, or if it was an accident, to not call it to lower climbers. Tragedy averted.
After that 'edge of my seat' climb the views were amazing. Thank you for capturing them for us so we don't have to climb up that cliff to see them! Eek! I think you were wise in the choices you made. Like the lottery corp says " Know your limits, stay within it." lol! I'll stick to hikes where I don't need to use a chain to get up a hill! Great video, David! Thanks!
Haha ya there would be a only half the footage on my camera laying on the ground at the bottom.
@@IdRatherBeHiking 💀📷
Hey dude im just curious how you got permission to use drone on the east side of the lake in don getty?
You filmed everything but somehow didn't capture the rock falling 🤔
Stunning! Want to go!
Do it!
Pretty sweet hike. I'm surprised they let you camp up there.
Random wild camping is allowed in Don Getty Wildland Provincial park which is the side between the mountains, at the ridge is BC which is crown land and camping is also allowed.
Okay... Now that really looked quite dodgy. Kudos to the dudes and dudettes who dragged that chain all the way up there
Good you avoided the rock smash on the head
Well done video
It would be great if they bolted a couple of anchors to step on something or chistle in a few footsteps which I know people don't like that stuff. Ya the rock was... wow.. ninja reflexes.
@@IdRatherBeHiking the things we do for adventure, putting our lives into the hands of ... a length of chain. ;-) ... good on ya, I'd have done the same
Glad you didn’t get hurt.
Me too!
Peace be with you.
Dude Carnarvon Lake is in Don Getty Wildland Provincial Park. Please research/respect the rules and stop flying your drone illegally
1. Don Getty ends just past the lake, 2. I have a permit to film in Don Getty. Stop making assumptions you don't know my life, also look at the map.
Dude you can clearly see he is outside of Don Getty and flying in BC, maybe you should research the rules.
just more awesomeness, story of my life, honk cuz somebody did something brutal in a car ahead then come up beside them all mad and now looking at some beautiful girl, haha, so glad i checked this channel out after your recommendations, just amazing stuff
