    Card broad layer down with mulch on top is excellent for suffocating weeds and grass .

    Oh, bind weed (wild morning glory vine) is my arch nemesis at my house! Great videos!

    I think it’s a crabgrass weed problem that my peony bed has. Thank you for answering my question- yes plenty of angst behind it. I’ve been dealing with these nasty spreading viney weeds for too long!

    Technically Bermuda grass is not a weed because somebody planted it, but it is obnoxious when it tries to invade every flower bed.

      A flower in the wrong place is a weed. :) I’m a little wary of all the Bermuda grass growing in my yard. 😬 My husband loves it in the hay field, but here’s hoping it stays there. Lol

    Do you guys start your lavender from seed? I have tried twice now and can't seem to grow it, much less get it to germinate. I currently have seeds being cold stratified in the fridge now. Hoping 3rd times a charm. Can you give me any information on growing lavender from seed?

    • @rootdesigncompany
      @rootdesigncompany  Před rokem +1

      I have some growing under lights right now. I didn’t cold stratify it? Maybe it’s your seed? I know the bigger lavender plants don’t like to be too wet, so plant with good drainage.

    • @karie3
      @karie3 Před rokem

      @rootdesigncompany it germinated for you even though you didn't chill the seeds or place in freezer for weeks/months...? Oh my goodness, everything I read and videos I watch say it needs to go through a cold stratification period. I have tried 2 different types of seeds from 2 different companies. This year I am trying 2 different varieties. What variety did you plant?
      If you got yours to germinate without CS maybe I should try that too, I don't know. Did it take weeks to germinate?

    • @rootdesigncompany
      @rootdesigncompany  Před rokem +1

      @@karie3 Yes, I had really good germination without cold stratification. I planted Munstead (an English lavender) from Geo seeds. It took about a week to germinate, I think.

    • @karie3
      @karie3 Před rokem

      @rootdesigncompany I am so confused now. Lol. I have munstead lavender seeds and they say must have cold stratification and germinates in 30 days. Hmmmm..... do you soil block or sow in containers? Did you put it on a heat mat? Sorry I am asking so many questions but this is crazy that I have been following packet directions and get no germination and your growing it without doing all the things this packet says.

    • @rootdesigncompany
      @rootdesigncompany  Před rokem +1

      Guess I didn't read the packet too good. 😅 I didn't know you were supposed to cold stratify it. We've never stratified our lavender, so maybe start with that? I sowed into a plug tray, but we've also grown it in soil blocks. No heat mat. Hopefully this helps! It's always discouraging when you follow directions to a T and it doesn't work.
