So my opinion for the xmas with boyfriend thing, first off, I totally get it. I'm EXTREMELY sentimental with my family too and they are literally everything to me. My view is this: I would personally spend Christmas with my immediate family and here's why -you have your entire life to spend with your new family, future children, and husband, etc. I'm telling you, there will be nothing you will miss more than being with your OG immediate family as you grow up. Your parents aren't going to be here forever, your sister will soon branch off and find her own boyfriend and branch off too. So the moments you spend with your immediate family will one day, just not be possible anymore. I know someone who doesn't see her family for xmas because of this very reason - all the siblings have significant others and they all live out of state, so she hasn't spent xmas with her immediate family in years & who knows when the next time will be either. I know another couple who are engaged and live together, and they still go home separately for xmas to see their immediate families. Idk, I would just really cherish those core memories and opportunities to be with your family because it might be gone sooner than you think, and we'd all give anything to get that back.

Allll of this! Been married for 11 years and have 3 kids and those christmas times with just your family - are just something you can't get back! Enjoy the season with your fam now - knowing in time it might look different

You said in yesterdays vlog that your boyfriend had spent last Christmas with your family I think the best option would be for you to visit his family this year. Your compromise could be every year you swap who's family you spend the holidays with so you can have both.
Ashley! Welcome to relationships, marriage, adulting, we have to make new life decisions and compromising is one of them. We have been trying to do it every other year with our families being in different states too but we had a baby this year so it's been a switch up. Being together is the main priority and one day a year can be planned another day with your family. I go to my family maybe in February instead. I understand it's your birthday but traveling to Colorado would be a big deal but maybe have him do something special in return to acknowledge the sacrifices and compromises you guys are doing. Also just have to create new traditions:)

opinion from a a girlfriend of 3 years in their 20s: spend it with your family!! every year, my boyfriends family invited me over to spend it with theirs. i did not go once, neither to thanksgiving or christmas. here’s why, we’re getting older and in 15-30 years you are going to wish you spent that holiday with your family. you have a whole life ahead of you where you can spend it with your husband and kids. i think your idea flying out the 26th is the best option!

I have been there and it’s not an easy decision to make! Personally it would be fun to spend time with your boyfriend and see the traditions his family does and then maybe next year he stays with you and your family and you guys go up to see his family before or after that’s actually how my husband and I decided on ours. It’s not easy but it does get easier! Definitely praying for peace on what ever decision you come to!

It seems that the option to leave on the 26th is quite good. You can do both things almost at the same time. I understand you completely, and all your feelings about this situation are normal. I agree 1000% with what you said about getting tired. Love love love the vlogs… but at the same time totally get it…. this year i felt more intune with your videos, I have matured a lot this year and when it came to creators I was looking for people who reflected that. I wouldnt worry about this being a life or death situation, I am such a homebody so being without my dad on Christmas wouldn't be the same. you'll make the right decision. My birthday is also on Christmas, so I totally understand why you are feeling this way! My best advice, if you choose to do Christmas in Colorado (where I’m from-white Christmases are the best btw) then do a mini Christmas with your family before you go! Christmas is a feeling and an experience more than it is a date, so celebrate with family time up until you leave. If you decide to stay in CA, FaceTime works wonders and you both can have family time yet spend a little quality time with each other on your b-days.
A super good option for dogs that are prone to disc/back problems is to by stairs that go up to the couch and beds. Train with treats so they stop jumping but can still get to everywhere they want to go! Have used for years for my old dog with bad hips and it’s so helpful

I listen to podcasts on apple, and or youtube; working part-time and juggling adulting and dating I can find it hard to get time to watch or listen. it's part of my 2024 goal to listen to more podcasts but finding ones that keep my attention is an issue. I love you!

This is 100% a tough situation! Definitely do what you think will make you happiest but even going the day after Christmas like you said on the 26th is absolutely okay! My husband and I had to split holidays and it worked for us 🤗

If you can see yourself having a future with your boyfriend, I would say go spend the holidays with him this year and next year he can come spend the holidays with your family. It’s easy to stay in our comfort zones, however if we ever want to grow we have to push out of our comfort zones from time to time. Maybe you two need to spend the holiday together to grow closer as a couple and to learn more about his family 🤷♀️
Ive been with my husband for 19 years and have spent about 17 years of christmases with his family, not mine. My Dad is no longer with us so I definitely wish I had spent more pre-married years spending it with my family. If you and your BF are in this for the long run, you have so many holidays in the future to spend it together.
As a science grad student I love to see the magnetic stirrer being used for functional purposes instead of just in lab!!

Ashley~Welcome to Broncos Nation🐴🎉❤! About Christmas, I read some comments & I can see both sides. If it were me, I would go with my boyfriend to Colorado. I would celebrate with my family either b4 or after I come back. I work at a 24/7 facility & we always celebrate our b-days, Valentines Day, & anniversary on a different day, than the actual day of. Thanksgiving & Christmas usually on the actual day, but one year in order to include my nephew-we celebrated Thanksgiving on the Sunday b4. It was 70 degrees, which is crazy for Colorado in November & no one had to rush to any other family’s houses. It was one of the best holidays of my whole life, we sat outside & laughed & talked for hours & took a ton of pics. ❤
I completely understand the struggle especially being close to your family but want to be with your boyfriend! My fiancé and I planned Christmas Eve with my parents and Christmas with his family but it doesn’t make it easy as we have to travel- not like you with the different states situation. I do truly believe your family will support you in your decision and yes it’s a big deal but you can still celebrate before you go or when you come back! ❤ you will make it work with whatever you decide!

I feel the emotions of not spending Christmas with your family and I have to say, it feels a lot worse before it happens than when it does. I think the will for you to want to go spend it there doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate or love your family. It doesn’t make you any less part of your family. I think a new experience could be great for you, in this season of your life.
However, if the decision feels too rushed, then leaving the 26th could be a good compromise!
