Oddly Satisfying ASMR Relaxation Sleep Aid - Thread Art

Thread art ASMR ??? I shot video footage with larger thread than I would normally use for clarity purposes trying to demonstrate a spiral wrap or helix wrap and how you can manipulate the thread in different ways. I normally edit the video footage and then do voice over narration and add it into my edit. Well, a friend of mine who does the Casks and Que CZcams channel (go check him out and tell him The Fishing Hobby sent you) was telling me he likes the ASMR videos just the other day. While editing this video, I was so relaxed listening to the background sounds that I found myself falling asleep! Sounds like my cat sleeping, the clicks of the bobbin holder moving around, the washing machine running in the background, a plane flying by, scissors cutting, flicking a lighter, thread rubbing on a wooden dowel rod and a TV playing in the distance all really did the trick for me. I felt completely relaxed and was nodding off. So my first ASMR video was born. I jokingly whisper that I have no idea why I'm doing this at the beginning of this video...this type of thing is out of my comfort zone when it comes to what I put on CZcams. I figure that if it helps even one person who is feeling a little stressed out find some relaxation then it was worth doing.
This video was originally meant to show a little more detail about making these wraps: • Fishing Rod Building G... and it morphed into its own thing.

Great, it's 11am here and I nearly dozed off.
Na, loved it as always. I've done the same thing, using a similar thread but thicker as the grips. Easily changed when needed and can always have a new look.

what size and length of wire do you recommend for a thread tension rod?

I use .039” music wire or around 1mm spring wire if you prefer metric. Length will depend on your setup really. Mine mounts to the top of my thread holder and is around 10” long but an inch or two longer or shorter would work just fine too for my setup. It really just depends on where you are mounting it and how far of a travel distance it would have to the first guide on you thread carriage. You don’t want it so long that it can get pulled down into your guide.
