  • More custom rod building tips and tricks! How to clean up the dirty side of wraps. This method may not be for everyone, but it sure does make for a clean looking dirty side of your underwrap. It does take a little more time than some other techniques, but the results are worth the effort to me. Minimizing pull through loop use really helps. This wrap was done with only one pull through, the rest was done by wrapping over short tag ends. I'll talk about colors and tension and location as factors to consider when making wraps like these underwraps in the video. Thanks for watching and please check out some of my other rod building videos! I have rod building tips for beginners and some different ways of doing things that even experienced rod builders may find helpful. Please consider subscribing if you find my content helpful! Was it just me, or did the video disappear from 2:50 to 3:15?

It did, I messed something up while editing the video apparently 😂

I went back and edited that part of the video out. Unfortunately CZcams will not let you add in footage after a video has been uploaded so the best I could do is cut that part out. The part I cut out was talking about the blue part of the wrap. I used less tension in the blue area because it is closer in color to the blank (the blank is less likely to show through) and I wanted to leave some wiggle room in that area to manipulate the threads if needed because it is the focal point of this underwrap. Sorry about my video editing mistake!

@@TheFishingHobby I didn't mean to cause an issue, I thought it might have just been me. I appreciate the videos. I've learned a lot. Now I just need to apply it.

I appreciate you pointing it out to me! I usually catch things like that ahead of time, but I slipped up on this one. That was about 30 seconds of awkward black screen time 😂

I like that style, very clean and simple. I'd like to use this method but will be using an under wrap plus double wrap on the guides with 2 color trim bands. Do you have a video that shows how to do this ?

I do not. I never use double wrapped guides and I don’t use under wraps. I did this one as an example, but I don’t need them on the rods I build for myself. I have several trim band videos but I don’t believe I’ve ever uploaded one on doing 2 color trim bands. I would do them the same way as I do any other trim band I do, the only difference would be 2 color transitions instead of just one. I mostly build ultralight rods for personal use, so I don’t use the heavier duty wrapping styles people would use on big game rods.
