      It acutally should work best with non-newtonian fluids called bingham fluids that need a certain shear force to behave like fluids. This means they have a bigger zone with non-slip condition. Ketchup is one of those bingham fluids. :)

    Such a shame that Kamikoto has never been made by a Japanese knives maker nor has any history as such (many quoted as a Chinese company in expert groups). I highly doubt you can name any Michelin star chef or any pro chef using Kamikoto or endorsing it. I couldn't find any trace. I am open to find out I am wrong - if you can provide their name and endorsement of the product. Damaging to the Japanese knives reputation. "Machine made knives from 2nd grade steel". It's the rolling edge. I mix glue using that concept with a 1/8 inch wooden dowel on a flat surface. The point is to mix all of the glue and maintain a small mixing area. Rolling the dowel flat toward the center of the glue cleans the glue up, rolls it toward the center, and mixes it at the same time.

    I think it may be a particle size issue. Larger particles are dominated by gravitation, but smaller particles are dominated by electrostatic forces. Like how the flour kinda worked, but the other solids didn't. That's why there's little adhesion and cohesion to get the material to stick to your sloped surface.

    • @vincentwu2848
      @vincentwu2848 Před 6 měsíci

      "Limited application" seems to be quite the understatement, but perhaps I'm seriously lacking in creativity. I remember this device as well, and as I recall they mainly used it to move condiments around. Do you recall any of the other applications, especially any that might have actually been useful?

    • @acct5910
      @acct5910 Před 6 měsíci

      @@vincentwu2848 As it stands, no. I was hoping he would mention some new applications in the video. I imagine it will have future use in robotics/automation eventually though.

      Well good news then, they're not even made in Japan. The misleading wording says they use some techniques and steels that the Japanese use. They're mass manufactured in china out of the lowest entry grade steel suitable for knives.

    So, Kamikoto back out ripping people off. Why can't you sell a good value knife that is reasonably priced. You can get professional Henkel knives that last a life time for one quarter the price of these. Do you hate your viewers and like to see them ripped off? These are basic knives sold for at a high end price. Higher than high end price.
