  • What is China’s Tiangong space station?
China has begun building its multi-modular Tiangong space station and recently sent its first three-person long-duration crew to the fledgling outpost.
That means there are currently two occupied destinations in low Earth orbit and 10 people in space, including seven at the International Space Station.
Tiangong is the 12th occupied space station in human history and the third multi-modular orbiting laboratory after Mir and the ISS.
However, it’s taken China decades to get to this point. I’m going to briefly go over the country’s human spaceflight ambitions and how Tiangong fits into the overall plans for the Chinese space program.

What do you think about Tiangong? Are you excited to see more destinations in low Earth orbit?

It’s very cool to see another modular space station in leo

I agree! I wonder if they'll expand it beyond the three planned modules, or if they'll decide to push for deep space human spaceflight at the end of Tiangong's life?

Great video and keep up the good work !!
Earlier this month I did read a article about China investigating the option to build a spaceship with a length of almost a mile. Okay, this will not be for tomorrow of course, but I love the fact that our Chinese friends do at least study the option on how to build such a huge space construction.
I'm a big fan of everything that has to do with space, and personaly I don't give a damn if it is made by Chinese, Russian, American, Arab or European hands. There will be a moment in future that we will come to the conclusion that we do all need each other no matter were you're from.

It's strange that no one watches such a good video. Is it because it's a Chinese space station?
Anyway, thank you for the intro video.

Fun fact: Nie Haisheng, one of the three astronauts in the Tiangong, is a major general in the PLA, making him the highest military rank individual in space, in human history.
