Neat review! Will check out your channel
Awesome, thank you!
Great review really glad I’ve found your channel. Wanting to buy this but wondering if I use the 60w power supply can i use the Ethernet port at the back number 8 as a normal port if i use power brick. I already own a UniFi express
Thank you! The Ethernet port will still be used either way because you need an uplink back to your Unifi Express. The power supply will really just dictate how much PoE wattage you will have available for the ports.
Thanks really don’t need any poe ports but really want a 8 port UniFi switch so either this or the 8 port lite
Nice review! Any idea if it can be powered in by a DC line without the brick. I've a 48v dc line, the voltage moves from 40-57 volts.
Thanks! I don’t have a different power supply but I imagine it could work if you give it the correct input voltage and current. I should point out that the back of my USW-Ultra has a part number that actually ends in “-60W”. I doubt there’s hardware differences between the other version but possible given the unique part number.
@@ApexOneTechNice to know that they might have different hardware depending on the version! Cheers!
When powering it by just PoE+ you do get PoE passthrough, but just 16W - still enough to power a single AP =)
Yes! for your typical ones like U6+ (9 watts). Some consume a lot more. PoE++ input can get you 42W PoE. Like the U6 Long-Range can be up to 18.5W.
but not enough PoE to power any of the 6GHz capable APs. only wifi 6(non-e) APs and below can be powered by 15.4W of PoE.
Does the new ultra switch come in different models or SKUs, depending on how it is used? If I choose the No AC Adapter option on the store page, meaning the switch will be powered by a PoE input, will I receive a switch that is different than one if I had chosen 210W AC Adapter option?
The PoE power port on the USW-Ultra says Poe IN ++. Does this mean I have to use PoE ++? Can I power this USW-Ultra with a lower PoE such as AT? Would the lowest AF PoE also work to power this switch?
The switches do have different SKUs. The 60W, for example, model number is USW-Ultra-60W. It's labeled like that directly on the switch. You can see it in the video @5:05.
So, what you're describing, I haven't tried. It may or may not work. Same quesiton I have ;)
Regarding the PoE input, the total PoE budget (output) of the switch will vary depending on what input you supply it with:
PoE++ input: 42W
PoE+ input: 16W
60W PoE adapter input: 42W
60W AC adapter input: 52W
210W AC adapter input: 202W*
Can you tell me if the lite 16 switch will support the WiFi 6e enterprise Ap 2 of them ?
It's a GbE switch so you should get that throughput. The other thing you need to consider is PoE budget. The Lite 16 PoE switch has PoE+ ports and max budget of 45W. The U6 Enterprise can consume up to 22W each so you'll be pushing it. The switch will be the bottleneck since the U6 Enterprise takes 2.5 uplink.
I can power on a U6 Enterprise in the PoE output?
Yes but it consumes about 22 watts
I have an UDM and when connecting the Ultra, the LED turns white, but it doesen't show under Unifi Devices so I can't adopt it. It does show under Topography, though. I've already tried resetting it.
@@esbenontech eww. That’s not very UniFi of it! lol
Can this switch be adopted and managed using unify controller?
Yes. Basically any Unifi device can be adopted to the UniFi OS.
Which one do i need to power up 2 x u6 pro ap?
USW-Ultra-60W
@@ApexOneTechCould you please explain why? U6 Pro AP has max. power consumption 13W per unit. Two will take up to 26W. Why there is a need for 60W version?
Looks too small to dissipate 200W with no fan.
the power supply is external though so that's why it works. All the heat is not within switch itself.
@@ApexOneTech still would build quite a bit inside the switch itself, but others can report on how hard they’re pushing theirs…
