Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

Roger did it again. And great reaction to our beloved band.
These ladies are masters at their instruments: Kanami (Mincho) lead guitar, Akana (A-chan; Gorilla) on drums and Misa (the barefoot assassin) on bass. Then there is lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound. And the last one Miku is our little pigeon 🕊: Pure energy, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies with Saiki, some wonderful lead vocal songs and these days very good on rhythm guitar ... she wasn't able to play the guitar in 2013 when she founded the band.
I don't know of any other band where the fans' top song lists differ as much as Band Maid. This is just a (quite) random selection of songs:

I second Play. It is a very playful song and has so many moving parts that transition seamlessly into each other. Another great example of fearless musicianship is Corallium. It is truly a song only Band-Maid could make. Such an intense wall of sound, that sounds poppy and heavy at the same time.

@@reylynx They have a BIG catalog of music and you'll find they blend many genres. They've reached a point where they're a genre unto themselves. The drummer, Akane, is called "the barefoot assassin". Miku, they rhythm guitarist, usually writes they lyrics although for this song Saiki, lead vocal, wrote them. You're going to have a lot of fun if you keep going down the pigeon hole (don't worry, you'll understand that later). If you post more Band Maid reactions, I'll be there. Kanami, lead gtr, writes most of the musical ideas and then the various members work out their parts of Kanami's demos.

Roger strikes again!!! You rock dude. Great reaction Rey. These ladies are legit rock stars. This was song #27 out of 33 that night. It was their big 10th anniversary tour finale at Yokohama Arena last November. They have quite an extensive catalog of quality songs to explore.😁
Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band.
Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane.
Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar.
Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience.
MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls.
Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).
We all need to chip in and buy Roger a cape and a big letter "R" to paste on his chest ;) . BAND MAID is the hardest rocking group of MAIDs ever!!!

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

I love this version of Hate? Checkout any of their videos on their YT channel. All are great. Just realize that though they are mostly hard rock they have songs which cover many genres. The only surety is that the composition and performance will be top notch. I'm 75 and if they are not the best group I've ever seen they are in the top 3, but I think they are number 1. Very cool, subscribed! Band-Maid takes up more space on my CD/DVD shelf than any other band. My top 5 list of Band-Maid songs has 30 songs in it. I've seen them live three times and can't wait for the next one :) Also, you should be aware that you stand on the precipice of an all-consuming obsession if you keep looking into Japanese/Korean rock and metal. I'm an old dude from the USA and 90% of what I listen to is from that arena. So many fantastically great bands...

Lots of wows, lots of smile, and even a few tears. I've been on this earth 75 years and have heard a lot of rock and have seen many bands from the iconic to the not so well known. Band-Maid is the best thing that has happened to rock music in decades. Now Rey, you should jump to reacting to their newest release, "Bestie", the official music video, then jumping back to their first official music video, "Thrill" to see how it all began for the band. Then enjoy every Band-Maid official music video or offical live video released on the Band-Maid CZcams channel. You'll see both the band's progression in their ten plus years together and find out how truly talented and versatile the band is. Band-Maid defies all genre stereotypes with their music. Whatever works to make the song better is what they will use. This group has no out-sized egos, they truly are one of the most professional, cohesive, and humble groups you'll will find in rock. I have been to two of their live concerts and felt that every penny I spent was worth seeing them in action.

He's set you on your way into the deep Pigeon-hole of 120+ fantastic and diverse songs. Don't try to channel them into one genre as the genius composer of the band, Kanami ("Mincho"), mixes genre's at will in songs. As many Maidiacs say...the genre is "Band-Maid". Buckle up tight and enjoy the ride as a new Maidiac. I would suggest "From Now On" OMV and one of my all time favorites, "Daydreaming" OMV. From there, pick as you like as they are all good.

The typical problems of overqualified Bands in principal everyone in their Band could compose but in reality Kanami does it and misa decides that she might help in other places and Akane feels it necessary that her drums must be used differentöy.
