  • Class 24 - D5054 “Phil Southern”, based on the East Lancashire Railway, has arrived on the Swanage Railway ahead of their annual ‘Diesel Gala’; due to be held over the weekend of May 10th-12th. D5054, one of only four members of the class in preservation, is the first visiting locomotive to arrive for the event, with further arrivals scheduled for the coming week.
The Class 24’s were not a common sight over the southern region. However, 15 members of the class did spend a brief period between 1959-1962 on the eastern section of the region, covering for delays in the Kent Coast Electrification scheme.
    Locomotives:
    BR Class 24 - D5054 “Phil Southern”
    BR Class 33 - 33111
All footage filmed on Friday the 3rd of May 2024.
