- A heritage convoy has arrived on the Swanage Railway ahead of their 'Diesel Gala', scheduled for the weekend of May 10th-12th. Class 52 'Western' - D1015 "Western Champion" would lead the consist, having travelled down light from Kidderminster to Eastleigh to pick up 50021 "Rodney", and the Class 20 pair of 20302 and 20311; owned by the Harry Needle Railroad Company.
50021, privately owned and based at Eastleigh, has been the subject of some frantic and thorough work over the past few months. A previously unclear ultrasonic test result on one of the axles spiraled into a full bogie replacement. The owners carried out a full overhaul on a spare bogie, with the swap taking place less than a week before the move to Swanage. A huge credit to all involved in getting the 50 ready for the event.

Gala looking healthier by the minute👍👍 Good to see "Rodders" out and about. Whatever colour a 20 is in it still doesn't hide that that big brutal nose!!! Thanks Matthew.
They have pulled together a very good concise line up for the weekend.
The group behind 'Dave' have really done a fantastic job making sure it was ready in time.
