  • The West Somerset Railway Spring Steam gala would see eight steam locos in action with five visitors and the current operational homefleet in attendance.
The five guest locos were B1 61306 Mayflower coutesy of LSL (locomotive services limited) Webb Coal Tank 1054 which would be visiting from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. Another firm favourite would be Hunslett tank 1874 aka Jessie which would be visiting from Blaenavon heritage railway in South Wales. The fourth loco to star would see Great Western 6695 return to the WSR, the tank would be starring coutesy of the Swindon & Cricklade Railway. The final guest would see more Great Western traction in the form of 6990 the modified Hall class aka Witherslack Hall which would also return to the the metals of the WSR, again thanks to the GCR and David Clarke trust.
The event was held over four days. All action featured in the video was captured on the Friday and Saturday. The weather at times was exceptional and all the locos performed faultlessly. The Webb Coal Tank was our star of the event with some spirited runs over the four day spring spectacular. I hope you enjoy the video

Excellent footage there Liam and Phil, from a superb gala. Really liked the footage of Mayflower though.

That little 0-6-2 tank looks just like one that took my family across to Hayling Island in the early fifties from Havant maybe? Lovely shots on a perfect videoing day.

They were 0-6-0 Terriers ex London Brighton & South Coast Railway (see Fenchurch which was at the recent Severn Valley gala). Similar vintage to this

Great video. Shame about the numpty in the bright blue jacket who persisted in leaning out of the carriage window on so many trains.

One question: Is 9351 a conversion from a prairie tank? I ask as looks like a prairie at the front
