I created a DIY Vocal Sound Booth worth USD 12 | Tutorial | DayandlightTV

I had a sound problem. I couldn't afford a full sound proofing, and actual vocal booths are too expensive. So, I DIY-ed one with only USD 12. What do you guys think? Any difference?

I can hear some "boxines sound" in a box. The reason for this is: the foam does not absorb everything, some sound is still reflected by cardboard and: so you get the boxy sound. The solution for this is to make holes in carboard. The dots drawn on a box a good guide how many you need. But it is better to do them in random pattern... regular patterns have sound affects you do not want. This will let sound escape out... sure, some will also reflect from room and come back, but that will not sound boxy. And if you want more absorption: add more foam.

It sounds like your speaking into a Literal Box. :D
The box adds some reverb.

How much would be heard from the outside of the box? For instance if you lived in a property with walls like paper would your neighbours be able to hear what you are saying at a normal speaking volume?

Would have been nice if you had someone record you from the outside so we as the audience could hear that it blocked your sound from coming out...even though your purpose was to prevent sound from coming in...

I was thinking of making one home for making some vocal demo tracks. Does someone have experience could this work in a block of flats? I want more the voices not echoing around to other apartments… also have a studio but like to record some ideas straight ahead at home to try stuff.
