  • Robo calls rank number one when it comes to consumer headaches but what if you could do more than just block the calls? What if you could get even?

These calls were not allowed on cell phones until 2013. The a bill passed in Congress to allow them. Big problem is when you block a number from them. They call back with a different number. Which means cell phone companies are allowing them to purchase vast amounts of phone numbers. Cell phone providers should be held accountable for this.

They aren’t getting them from cell companies, they are spoofing caller ids. You can block a caller ID but not the true originating number. And they are landlines they call from, usually over seas in India.

I called one back in the evening, got a real person who said they hadn’t called me, but we talked about how he was getting the same thing happening and it’s happened the other way too where someone called me asking why I had called them. I hadn’t. It’s not the phone number, it’s the scammers.

Did not help that I am receiving current benefits from Social Security!! They will NEVER call you, you might get an email or certified letter in the mail. The same goes for the IRS and Utility companies. If you should get an email it will be simple, it will say please come to the office, however usually it would be a certified letter showing a signature and requiring yours as well. I also state I am a retired law enforcement officer which is completely true, they hang up in seconds. Most of the time I let the call go to voice mail for them to leave a un transcribed message. Robocalling could almost disappear overnight if congress passed extremely strict laws against them. But businesses own almost every officeholder. Until we ban all donations (bribes) to candidates from the rich and corporations we will continue to have these leeches intrude on our lives.
