Since Enduro is short for endurance, this should give you a clue that you’ll be on the bike for a decent amount of time. You’ll need to be able to ride 45-50 miles at a minimum. Make sure your bike and your body can handle the distance. Hydration is important, as well as keeping your body fueled for the length of the event.
An Enduro is a time based event, so the rows the racers leave on is their designated minute throughout the day. Not every racer on a row is in the same class. Checking which classes all racers are participating in helps set up a quick pecking order for the first test. From there, let finishing positions determine how racers jump into the start of each test section.
Trail markings in an Enduro are straight forward. Most organizations use arrows stapled to trees and/or stakes. The direction the arrow is pointing should give you the heads up which way the trail will be going. A down arrow indicates a need to slow down, whether that’s for a turn, or an obstacle. X’s are to help mark danger, or points racers should be very attentive too. W’s tell you missed something and you’re headed the wrong way.
I treat Enduro’s as organized trail rides. Sometimes I’m the fastest guy on the row, and sometimes I’m not. I typically always get passed in longer test sections by faster racers, because that’s life. The goal is to stay upright, have fun riding my dirt bike, and gather a few stories to tell around the campfire.

Such a rad video for newcomers and folks used to other disciplines.
Hopefully those old, always upset, timekeeping traditionalist enjoy it too 🤣
great point on passing adn when you catch riders or get caught, well said.
I appreciate that! Pick a side, lean a little, and let the faster rider get on by.
I’m doing an ISDE style event in Mcleary Washington next month as a complete newbie to trail riding, let alone races.
it’s an easier one so I should be good 😆.
I’ve wanted to get into the sport my entire life, but never knew how, and I finally decided to just wing it after getting a new 22’ KTM EXCF500 Six Days last year and doing the BDR and some other smaller trails. I’m stoked! And this video really helped me get a feel for what I’m in for. Thanks a ton!
Right On! Glad you found it and that it was helpful!! We recently out out some nutrition information as well for racing. Give that a gander as well so you’re properly fueled! Let us know how the event goes for ya! 🤘🏻🤙🏻⚡️
I recognized Barteau Ranch, Crosstimbers, Cajun Classic, Black Water, Lone Star, Shady Burro, Sandwinders and Red Canyon. But hey that's just an educated guess...
🤔 I feel like you deserve a prize?!?!
Gobbler Getter was in there too, the W / Wrong away part.
Great information 👍
Good job guys!
Thanks! 🤘🏻
I started Mx in 1980 to 1993 and in 93 I also started enduros and cross country’s. Very busy year, had a race almost every weekend. Dropped Mx after a year of enduros and XC. (Black Jack Enduro Circuit and Oklahoma cross Country racing Association (BJEC & OCCRA). Raced till 2004. I wish I would have got started in enduros In steed of Mx. got to race a ISDE qualifier in 1994 when then us hosted it in Tulsa Oklahoma where I’m from. I miss racing enduros so much. Thanks for sharing.
Great story Brant, thanks for sharing it!!! It’s not too late to swing a leg over a bike again. Start slow, get back into the groove and you’ll be ripping single track in no time!!!
@@SeatTime oh I still do. I just purchased my 41st new bike a husqvarna 701 enduro. I still ride and I still very fast. I just don’t race anymore is all. I’m a little to old and beat up to race anymore. (29 broken bones, Rattlesnake bit, shot in the leg, stabbed in the chest nine times, three concussions, stomped by cattle, and severely burnt. All I was saying was I miss racing enduros. Thanks again for sharing my friend.
Holy shit sir, you have a story to tell!!! Here’s our Why I Ride page, there’s a link to form to fill out to tell us your story. I would be stoked to read your Why I Ride story!!! seattime.co/why-i-ride-project/
@@SeatTime you just would not believe what all I’ve been through. lol. I would love to have a ghost writer do my story. I will definitely Write a story (i’m assuming my riding story and not none of the other BS that’s went on in my life). Thank you so much for this opportunity for someone to hear my life and what motorcycles mean to me.
That’s a cracking video that 👍👍
Thanks 🤘🏻🤙🏻⚡️
Great Video ! Thanks!
You got it! 🤘🏻🤙🏻⚡️
Sweet
Good stuff!
Thanks Guys!!!!!!
Definitely helpful! I actually watched this once before but it was worth watching again.
Well hell yeah! 👊🏻👊🏻
@@SeatTime you mentioned having a CR80 in the early 90s…. I had an RM80 in the early 90s so I’m assuming we are about the same age? 41ish?
I did my 1st enduro in 1974 so I am no beginner, but I really enjoyed that.
Heck Yeah!!! My Dad was racing enduros back then as well I believe. I was born in 1979, so I wasn't, haha! I'm really glad you enjoyed the content. I was hoping to make a video that would be entertaining for all level of enthusiasts!!!
How can i participate in this? Where does it takes place?
Never been to Louisiana but southern Jersey has some pretty tight trees too!
I love seeing footage from the New England area. Especially what J-Day has always thrown at the racers.
Definitely need a few beers after 🍻
I'm planning to do my first race this fall after my hand heals. Good video as always - cheers!
Thanks Dude ⚙️ ! Which Race and what did you do to your hand?!?!?
@@SeatTime not 100% sure on the race yet. Depends when my hand heals and when I can find a free week.
Hit a tree - 3 fractures...
@@ShiftGearsMoto 3 Fractures, GEW! Makes my scaphoid injury sound lame...
I recognized some of those!!!
Lots of good times racing Enduros!
That MX track at 5:45 was Burleson MX 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Yes Sir! I haven’t been there in awhile, but rode there a few times in the past. Fun Track!!! I’m always slow there in my two stroke, but that’s ok.
@@SeatTime They have been closed for a few years. are you in the Texas area?
@@aMotoheadsGarage Yes Indeed! We live over in McKinney!!!! Sad they closed. I'm guessing someone paid a lot for the land to build houses.
@@SeatTime no, the owner just got bored of running the track lol
@@SeatTime I’m doing my first Endro at Barnwell mountain next month. Your video is very helpful.
What organizations host enduros and HS races? I'm new but want SEAT TIME!
What state do you live in ? Texas = TSCEC, TCCRA, TORCS, TORN & more
Also, WELCOME TO THE CULT!!!
Love it. One question, are you allowed to carry a chainsaw?
😂 I've yet to put on my own event, but if I do, the first rule will be "No Chainsaws allowed on bike, or rider".
@@SeatTime hahahaha
Are you located in northTX?
Yes indeed! We used to live in McKinney, now we're in Bonham.
@@SeatTime
Got a 450Rl and asking where you like to ride.
How can i participate in this
Do you have a bike? Where do you live? There are plenty of local organizations out there for those wanting to get into racing Enduro!
Jesus hair cut and 145 likes - what is wrong with you guys?!
That’s good or bad, haha?!??
