This is what I'm seeing most of these degenerate parents doing. It's no wonder why no one wants to have kids anymore when peoples' priorities aren't well established. Too many people are focused on image, impressing peers, and not paying any attention to the quality of kids' characters. Great comment!

Struggles are better than extinction, which is what will happen if we continue to have children in a world in which every person born contributes about 9 tons of carbon to the atmosphere. Get global warming reversed and deal with the difficulties of the aged population for a generation or two, then keep the population stable. That’s what I would suggest if we want humanity to survive. Housing, education, etc is too much of an economic burden, and that's without including hobbies and items a child needs/should have for pleasure (toys, clothing etc). Also, getting a full-time job is not a guarantee, which is visible from the unemployment rate, including increasing demand for higher education from any potential applicants (which takes a lot of time go gain)

A few things, having a child in America is increasingly becoming something the middle aged and well off, and privileged, wealthy people do. Having a child too young for most people is almost a guaranteed ticket to into a cycle of poverty or at minimum indefinitely delaying your own dreams and aspiration until your children are grown. Middle aged people and wealthy people have children because having them does not mean they’ll end up in a lower class bracket, or having to give up dreams. If the government wants to encourage people in their youth to make babies then it has to ensure that having them won’t be a ticket into poverty and that childcare and family paid leave is a thing. More broadly the government also needs to look beyond its 1950’s notions of family planning. Not every household that would like to have a child is cis-het. So the government needs to include unconventional straight/queer /non-binary couples, and straight/queer/non-binary/ individuals who would like to have children in its efforts to boost fertility in the future. That means subsidizing non-conventional methods of child birth and fertility treatments for couples and individuals that would like to have children who would ordinarily not have them unless they were wealthy.

Low birth rates? Good. There are too many people anyways.
Seriously though. I'm a 24 y/o woman who have no plans of getting kids. Ever. It would just be too expensive and time consuming and most of all mentally draining. I'd rather live comfortable with a job i like and money on the side to use the way i want. Spoiling my niece and any future kids of my siblings is enough.
Sure there are times i look at my niece for like a sec when she is behaving like an angel and i think "maybe it wouldn't be so ba-" and then i regain my senses.

College took several years, now I'm in the early stages of my career and have to purchase a home suitable for children while paying off my student loans. I would have loved to have had children in my early 20s but it just wasn't realistically possible - even aiming for 31 or 32 is the best case scenario. People prefer dogs over kids in restaurants. And I love dogs! Yet I don't understand at what point giving birth to another human stopped being awed and appreciated. It's part of the culture not to want kids, but also a lot of people here are correct about it being almost impossible to afford to raise them. My wish was to have 2 kids close in age, but now my son is 6 and no sibling in sight yet. If you have a decent job that barely pays the rent you are not qualified for medical here. I know because that's me. Just because i can afford my rent and bills (barely) i have to pay my own insurance as well which is a deductible so if i have another child that's at least 8grand out of pocket. Makes me almost want to have my kid in another country.

Birth rates are not complicated. Family blocks have been destroyed and no one is getting married or starting families. By the time ladies are ready they are either too old or no one is interested in them. When I was a kid (70's) you married your girlfriend when you got out of High School and had kids by your early 20's. But then in those days a guy could make enough to buy a house, car, and raise a family with a stay at home mom and not have to go to collage to get a burger flipping job and be in debt till their 30's. Them days is over now, you go to collage fresh out of school, get a job, and about mid 30's you start looking for a mate. Problem is, both have to work now to make ends meet and no one want to stay home and raise a kid. Add in this flawed concept that the guy has to make more then her and be Mr. 6 foot plus perfect and ladies find themselves sitting things out as the middle aged guys with resources look for something younger to start a family with. Yep, sadly ladies have to make a choice when they get out of High School, Family or career. It takes a rare person to be able to balance both at the same time and it is a lot of work.
But hey, look at the bright side of all this, Work places have doubled their work force so do not have to pay as much and collages have us fooled into thinking we HAVE to go into debt till our 30's while taking their 2 or 4 year socialist brain washing program. We get out of collage in debt up to our ears, undertrained, and perfect little drones trained to do as we are told.

I remember going to public school and being shoved in my face to get a job all the time and no one ever said to me its okay to be a mom. I had kids at 20 and homeschool. The amish people know what they are doing and the older I get the more i realize we all should be amish

Don’t worry. Some children nowadays have two fathers, so it balances out. 😎

Gov't gives more financial help to single parent households then 2 parent households. 2 parent households are fitting the bill for everyone. Taxes too high. Prices on gas, grocery, clothes, furniture, houses, cars, electricity, water, internet all too high.

Should the government have the legal right to force people to use their bodies against their will to save the life of another person? Even at risk Of death, quality of life, physical damage to self, and financial ruin? Body autonomy is important. We even award it to our dead.

Congrats to that older Mom with the biracial son! They don’t look alike but that’s what happens in that kind of relationship situation. I’d say economics is the main reason why people don’t want to marry or have kids. The world is overpopulated with political instability all over the place so there’s really no reason for people to marry or have kids anymore.
