It is interesting if the divorce _rate_ , as in the percentage, goes down as well. But there are explanations for that too, like there’s much less people getting married, much less interest in marriage, and those that do get married, are more sure on their relationship, and more sure on marriage, and they are of the shrinking population that actually desire marriage in the first place

The "expert" explained it at about the 8:00 mark and something I found to be true being nearly 40. I find that women are looking for perfection. Back in 1948, women didn't have that much choice since they are limited to their geographical area. So Bob down the street who has a job at the factory is a highly likely prospect for marriage. Whereas today, people can move around, women can have careers and no longer are they forced to stay at home taking care of the house. With that in mind, nearly every guy today has a job, can provide a home and be able to to get a car. So women have a lot of choices and can make a better choice outside of that by finding someone they like, they find good looking, and can hold a job, a house, and a car. I guess when you say it's a "buyer's market" the truth is it's a "woman's market" right now. Women are able to make choices in their partner and can easily say no to someone despite them having all the great qualities of a marriageable man.
The decline started when No Fault Divorce took hold. Over 70% of divorce filings are from women. Not worth the risk for men.
I think it is higher than 70% of divorces initiated by broads. Also in the western countries broads only become serious about "marriage" when they are old maids.

Filing for divorce is not initiating it. Divorce is initiated by the first spouse to violate his or her marriage vows. I recently spoke to a woman who divorced her husband because he had begun to use prostitutes. She had to get AIDs tests.

If either spouse can breakdown the marriage, on no grounds at all, against the will of the other spouse, forcing a division of property, without penalty and without the need to compensate the other spouse, then it is hard to see that marriage exists at all.

There are two main reasons why people don’t want to start families anymore. The first are the bad family court laws. We’ve all heard horror stories of people that have gotten divorced and have had their lives destroyed. The second is the high cost living. You can’t even buy a house anymore so how can you start a family at a time like this?

I'm not married. Don't have kids. I turned 40 this year and am close to being able to retire, god willing. There are trade offs but I think my life is pretty good.

Children's needs are often unpredictable and inconvenient. The only fair distribution of parental responsibilities is for both to share the inconvenience and for both to have the same opportunity to develop their earning capacity. But then, neither would have a career.
If either spouse can breakdown the marriage on no grounds at all, against the wishes of the other spouse, without being required to compensate him/her or suffer a penalty, then marriage does not exist. Weddings are no more than parties and marriage certificates aren't worth the paper that they are printed on.

I saw a woman getting harassed on the street by a homeless man who was on drugs and I walked away. I don't feel bad. She was probably a feminist.
As a man I do not want to put myself in a position where any female have the choice to divorce me and take half my home which I paid in full all by myself and other assets. Also the law will back her up and take from me, if children are involved more than 80% of the time she will get full custody even if I am a good man. Marriage is a contract. NEVER enter a contract if one of the parties is REWARDED for BREAKING it. The major difference between 1948 and now is that people back then only lived nearby. You marry Bob down the street and hope he can hold his job at the factory and be able to pay the mortgage. Whereas today people are spread out all over. So I think women, especially, are finding they have a lot more choices. Sure they could marry that guy who has a job, a house and a car, but reality is she could also marry the perfect man who is a good looking man who will also have a job, a house and a car. So the pressure of meeting someone who could provide expanded a lot more and people are waiting to meet someone perfect. The problem is perfection these days are a bit all over the place. For myself I find I have a job, I have a car, but I don't have the looks so I do not have high hopes of finding marriage at this point. I see others and they too have a job, a house, and a car and they look good so they are able to get someone before I would.

Guys do a cost-benefit analysis of marriage. Even if you truly wanted to get married it just doesn't make any sense to do so. If you get divorced it could easily cripple you financially. It's a fools endeavor now. The women here mention all of the issues EXCEPT the ones that are important to men. I have seen very few happy marriages but I have seen many disasters and even a friend of the family who chose to self- delete himself because he was still forced to pay alimony even though he was laid off from his job.

The highest marriage rates and lowest divorce rates are among college educated women. The higher a woman's education (post graduate) the more likely she is to be married. Low marriage and high divorce rates are an issue on the lower socioeconomic and education ladder.
A woman who does most of the child care, is investing in her husband's earning capacity at the expense of her own. She has no control over the income that she is supporting, and her husband can take the proceeds of her unpaid labour and give it to another woman.

I for one do not see any advantage to getting married at all... even with these so called "tax advantage" because there is none. You can either file separately or joint, so whats the point? it's important to distinguish between the ideal (ex., love, movies and honeymoons) and reality (ex., finances, sex/(in)fidelity, children,...).
in addition to a data scientist, the interviewer could have interviewed a divorce lawyer, a divorce court judge, a child psychologist, a gynecologist, a priest/pastor/minister/imam/rabbi, and a marital counselor. each of these people could give opinions on how society has changed over the decades and centuries.

I've been married for 27yrs to my wife. Never feared gor anything.
We live in a different era. Feminism has empowered women. Most modern women don't have the same values as traditional women. Statistics show that over 70% of women file for divorce and it goes up to 90% if they are college educated. Since we live in a feminist society. The gynocentric court system favors women. In the bible it says that it's a sin to file for divorce if there wasn't infidelity and it's another sin to remarry. That tells me that women don't take wedding vows seriously. They need to restructure family law and make it fair for everyone. Not all but a lot of women don't think logically. They act on there emotions. Women want there freedom and independence. They don't want to be submissive like the Bible says. Women only want the benefits that come with marriage. They want a man that's going to provide them with a lifestyle they can't give themselves. Men are being alienated from seeing there kids and paying child support. Studies show that a child needs a mother to nurture them and a father to discipline them. That's part of the reason why you have dysfunctional people incarcerated in prison. Women don't love men for who they are. Women love men for what they can do for them.
