Shrinkage is real for real. I started mine with shoulder length hair. Yes they shrunk but now 2yrs later I got some hang time. Loving this loc journey 💚❤
What method did you use to start your locs?
@@charityrosser5726 started with twist & went got retwist every 4 to 6 weeks. I wore barrel rolls during this time to keep hair from unraveling so fast.
Lol same. I had Shrinkage as a loose natural. So I wasn't surprised.
Facts girl !! My hair was hip length and it’s shrunken all the up to my shoulders !! No lie !! 😂🤣…. I’m loving my locs and im enjoying and trusting the process ❤

Yes you are sooo right. My hair was waist length when I started and now I’m a year loc’d and my hair falls to my shoulders. Also my ends are not completely loc’d. So I think when you start locs with shorter hair, the length of the hair will loc faster and you will see length quicker. Anyway I am still thankful for the experience, and I am enjoying the journey!
Depends. I started mine at that length, but my loctician does the crochet method. So I only lost maybe 2.5 inches. 6 years later, I'm at 3 feet. Also depends on hair texture, but I've seen her do crochet method on kinky (like almost 4c hair) and still not have crazy amounts of shrinkage.
Facts!! My loose natural hair shrunk from bra strap length to chin length. 😲

its true.started with long hair it shrunk up to my earss..just now at 3years getting my length back..
I just did not have this experience. I am 5 days away from my 1st year anniversary and my hair is definitely longer when I look back over my pictures.
I don’t have locs, but I do have long natural hair and I know this to be true because of when washing my hair as to opposed when it’s been blow-dried! Hence with locs you wouldn’t be able to blow dry the hair! ❤

Big facts. My hair was past my shoulders. 7mos later I can barely put it in a high ponytail 😂😂😂😂😂
It's crazy though because i started mine with my hair just touching my shoulder when twisted. It shrank like i knew it would but 1 year later and they're a little longer than they were when i started and thicker. They dropped quick. I'm shocked at the growth.
I knew that going in but was happy because I was loving the short hair look and still am
And don't have multiple curl patterns with different rates of shrinkage, like I do 😂 I'm several months into starter locs and I have LAYERS where my curliest hair on top shrank the most and my looser curls in the kitchen barely shrank at all. Fun times!

I grew my hair to the bottom of my ribs for this very reason and am now about to start my dreadlocks journey 🎉
They’re not called dreadlocks 🙄 it’s just locs.
It depends if you have thick hair it only shrinks 5% but if you don’t it can shrink up to 20%!!!
Facts cause I can’t relate to what she saying I got thick hair and in a yr my hair got longer it also grows fast

To prevent shrinkage I use a clip at the root and the end. It will shrink but not too bad
wait how do u do that ? like what kind of clip & do u do that all the time ?
I use the regular clips that we would use to dread. I do it all the time. One clip is on the root and one is at the end of the dread until the hair dry to keep the length.
Has any one tried weighted clips. Taraji Henson has some in her line. I saw them online at Target. And other sites online that have different widths to gold more hair. I'm curious to try them.

Omg, I started with bra strap length and 9 months later they are hitting my shoulders 😂I though my hair was falling out

I had hair that was pass my nipple when stretched when I started my locs. That shrunk to a short bob 😂 not even touching my shoulders. Ive got shoulder length now after a yr but it was an adjustment for sure

This makes me scared to get mine. I’m getting them anyways. My hair is 16”. So, it’ll be 3-4” when it’s done? 😢
Because of the loc process; your hair is locking. It grows together, matts, before gaining length. 😃
True but when they dropped is was longer than ever before. Took about 2 years.
New growth with less manipulation causes length to recede sometimes 😅

Compression, but in the long run you're going to be able to grow your locs as long as you want regardless of your hair cycle
Its the nesting of locs❤
I think it's cause locs sort of compress the hair as it locs!!!so it gets shorter 🤦♀️
