Imo Costa probably didnt intend on going backwards but if your a fighter who needs a little space to throw your shots Sean Strickland is a nightmare he doesn't give you an inch to move or a second to think that's why I think even some of the best fighters look like shit against him they can't get in a position to get their shit going and their brain keeps getting interrupted by constant pressure and having to keep dealing with Sean's offence.
So he uses the Diaz brothers style but with defense and without getting bloodied up
