    I have been on the other side, the interviewer, cv and tech test reviewer. I think what I most found difficult when interviewing was plain lying in CV's totally unable to answer basic questions on topics the CV said they had experience in. Keep it truthful. Another problem is just a lack of understanding of what the candidate actually worked on before and not being able to explain the product they were testing with clarity, your a tester you should be curious, you should at least understand what underlying tech is used, even if you cant build with it yourself, that has an affect in your testing. Oh and finally tech tests if your going to copy something from the internet at least change the comments and make sure you actually fully understand what you are submitting. Good video, refering to your own experience when asked a question is great but even if you have no relevant experience, hearing how you may theoretically approach a problem is still interesting to an interviewer (at least is to me😅)

    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  Před měsícem

      Oh totally great point for sure. I thought of many other after I released this video 😄
      But yes you should know what you have worked on and definitely not lie as to not be able to answer basic questions!
      My experience was that I did respond and pretty close to the correct answer, but I guess this question defined if I am a good QA or not whatever that is so…a fun story though 😅

    Good video only thing I have to say is that I have been told in the past (wrongly I think) that during my interview I would give to many examples of what I did in the past. It was odd but yea

    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Interesting. Because when you look from and employer perspective - wouldn’t you want to hear an experienced professional? Who cares about definitions which you can memorize before the interview. But experience is something so unique and needed in this industry. Very odd indeed. 😄
      But again as I shared my interview fail here - theres just some companies like that. 🤷🏽‍♀️

      @elsaqa  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Well thank you very much I really appreciate the kind words! ☺️
      I have been working with recruiters and doing it on my own. Sometimes it’s even better to work with recruiters because they may have more options that they could offer you. So far I have gotten really great recruiters I had worked in the past - they were delightful and answered all my questions. Also they took in mind what I was looking for which is so great if you know what you want. But while talking directly with the companies you can also raise the same questions and see if it’s for you. I hope this answered! 🙃

    What are some websites you use to apply for QA?

    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Option 1: I use Linked in -> then I find specific company that I think I would be interested in working in -> then I go to their sites and apply through their Careers page.
      Option 2: Remote jobs I search through Google by typing “remote jobs qa engineer or qa tester” - there I find companies again.
      Option 3: I go to my countries CV sites and search there what I want - apply through them
      Option 4: I get messages from recruiters -> they have a company list where you could fit in -> you interview and talk to them -> they navigate in that direction you spoke about.
      Sorry for not giving any specific sites but for every country they differ and these days you can find most of what you need for jobs in LinkedIn or Google :) Good luck!

    So the point is you were expecting to be asked with more experience related questions rather than straight definitions?

    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  Před 11 měsíci +2

      The point was this - prepare for the interviews & be confident in your abilities. Job interview is like shopping - thats were you get to know your employer and can have a real conversation as the other way around. You would never buy anything unseen or something you dont know anything about right? After you know whats it about - weigh out if it is actually what you need and are aligned with to carry out. I hope this shopping analogy made sense 😄

    • @Raptile5
      @Raptile5 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@elsaqa Oh sorry, the video is cool. It's great to know your perspective especially on these tough topics like interviews 🙂
      My previous comment was rather related to part where you explain the 'worst interview' experience. As far as I understood you were asked questions which were kind of beginners questions to you and you did not expect them?
      I'm asking because I wonder if junior, regular and senior testers actually gets the same interview questions (at least within software testing theory) like 'What is test case', 'what does it mean 404' etc, or it was rather a separate case.

    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  Před 11 měsíci

      @@Raptile5 yes, no worries - I’m tryint o explain aa best as I can 😄
      Interviews can be tough and interesting. I’ve had many many great interviews, but I feel like the worst ones give the best lessons. In my exercise i’ve had similar questions asked in both entry/senior level positions asked, but later in the technical part that is where the difference comes. Also if your a junior I suggest that for the interviews you also listen to how they are interviewing you and what they offer you - there are a lot of options out there, so don’t settle. Take a position where you can grow your skills and have been given freedom to develop.
      Also of course you never can predict what you will be asked, but prepare the best you can and carry yourself with confidence of the stuff you know. If you also maybe don’t know something don’t be scared to admit it. All resources are online of the definitions and interview questions these days, so you have your options! I hope this answered better and can help you further on! ☺️
