Live: Exploratory testing of Canva

Hey, come and join me on my first ever live testing challenge with me. My goal on this was a little bit like an experiment and a challenge on how many bugs I will manage to find in a restricted time slot. I had given myself 15-20 minutes to test Canva app and see how it goes and how many things I can find. Obviously as I mentioned I had used this tool before, BUT i really had never checked all ...

Thank you for the very clear explanation 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Amazing content please which Job board website did you use in this video?
Thank you! I used Indeed or sometimes Glassdoor to check for company reviews 😊
I’m currently trying to transition out of manual testing. The amount of tools to learn are overwhelming. Every job wants something different. Any recommendations on where you think I should begin? I don’t exactly enjoy learning how to code but I know I have to figure it out if I want to get to six figures.
Thats awesome and yes it truly is overwhelming, I have checked what companies are looking for and its sometimes just many different tools and languages. My best advice is to usually transition to automation via company you work for if it is possible. That is the best way to learn if they give you that time. Since the job postings say different things then if you learn something and later there are no offers than it would be, not really for nothing, but I hope you got the point. Also if you like manual QA then I would also consider sticking to what you love as I believe your work is better when you do something you like! There are also options to go into managament positions to get to six figures maybe that would be something you like and can enjoy. 😊
Hi Elsa, thank you so much :) Helps a lot! As a junior tester I absolutely love your videos :)
Yeey so excited to hear that! Also congratz on becoming a tester! :)

Your welcome! 🙃
The foundation level exam was really difficult for me to pass and has yet to help me get a job. 😔
Yes, I passed only on the second try haha. The thing is it may not be straight up the reason you get the job, but there have been cases for me personally as I mentioned where they wanted me only because of the certificate. The important thing is that you understand and know how to apply the fundamentals and what else to check when testing. Fingers crossed you land something soon! <3
Hi Elsa, I really enjoyed your video 😃 and benefited from it so much 😊, thanks a lot 👏

Well basically starting as a Junior Software Tester is like the start then you grow into a QA Engineer by gaining skill and experience! 🙂
Hi Elsa! Can you share your experiences in passing ISTQB exams
What exactly - like the process, the preparing or overall everything? 😊
Good information
Thank you ☺️
How much ram is required for testing in general. Which one r u using currently 8gb or 16gb? Tq
I am using macbook pro m2 with 16gb ram, but an 8gb ram is more than enough for testing. If you are not running tests it is more than enough! ☺️
stay consistent love
🙈❤️🙏🏽
is the test timed or was just how long it took you?
Yes the test is timed. The first one - foundation level- took 60 minutes and the advanced one was 180 minutes.
Hi Elsa, This was fun to watch too 🤓 Yes, definitely do more of these type of videos. All valuable insights from a veteran tester 🤩👊
Thank you indeed, I really appreciate it! 🙈☺️
This was fun!!!! What would you like me to dive in more on or maybe test next? 🤩

Hey. You can reach out to me on e-mail: makingitwithelsa@gmail.com Drop me ALL the questions 🙃
Hi Elsa! Thank you for sharing. I'm currently looking for a new job as a QA Engineer. My last title was QA Engineer, but the role was primarily that of a software tester, focusing on manual testing. This was because my previous company had a separate SDET team for automation. It's been challenging for me to find a new QA Engineer position because I lack automation skills. What do you suggest? Should I prioritize learning automation first?
Hey again. Honestly any skills will be of help to you, but you also have to research what the job market is saying and what skills are they looking for as. Also usually they ask for experience in this too so it is usually to go into automation through company growth opportunities but of course not always. Which country are you looking from a role in? Is it the EU market or US market or other?
@@elsaqa Ah, okay, thank you for the advice! Currently, I reside in Indonesia. However, due to numerous layoff issues within Indonesian startups, I've decided to enhance my knowledge first and explore foreign markets, perhaps focusing on the EU market. What are your thoughts? What should I study to prepare for the EU market?
@@Tata-fm1dw ah we have had layoffs on the EU side as well, market has shifted a bit, but when googling for open positions there are PLENTY open. EU market usually also want you to be a resident of it for a lot of roles that I was checking yesterday. Are you planning to stay in Indonesia? I would go and check their vacancies and check what they are asking for, offering to establish what it is you are maybe lacking first. Then improve on those aspects.
@@elsaqa Ah, I thought this only impacted Indonesia, but apparently not 🥲. In my long-term plans, I aim to leave Indonesia for the foreign market, particularly the EU. If an opportunity arises, I'll seize it, even if it means relocating. Thank you so much for your help, Elsa! Feel free to ask for any information about me; I'll gladly share it. Thanks!
@@Tata-fm1dw Yes, well I wish you good luck on your search and keep following your goals no matter what and you will definitely get there!
Nice sharing Elsa😊. Can I connect you to LinkedIn or other social media?
Hey. I have tiktok: elsaqas and email you can reach me: makingitwithelsa@gmail.com 🙃
How do you find an apprentice?
I asked around if companies were looking for interns 🙂
I have been on the other side, the interviewer, cv and tech test reviewer. I think what I most found difficult when interviewing was plain lying in CV's totally unable to answer basic questions on topics the CV said they had experience in. Keep it truthful. Another problem is just a lack of understanding of what the candidate actually worked on before and not being able to explain the product they were testing with clarity, your a tester you should be curious, you should at least understand what underlying tech is used, even if you cant build with it yourself, that has an affect in your testing. Oh and finally tech tests if your going to copy something from the internet at least change the comments and make sure you actually fully understand what you are submitting. Good video, refering to your own experience when asked a question is great but even if you have no relevant experience, hearing how you may theoretically approach a problem is still interesting to an interviewer (at least is to me😅)
Oh totally great point for sure. I thought of many other after I released this video 😄 But yes you should know what you have worked on and definitely not lie as to not be able to answer basic questions! My experience was that I did respond and pretty close to the correct answer, but I guess this question defined if I am a good QA or not whatever that is so…a fun story though 😅
hello, love your content... there is so much information on the internet, can you specify exactly which websites/webpages to get info and print out on test managers to study
Thank you so much! ☺️ Oh yes here it is: www.istqb.org/certifications/test-manager
Thank you for making this video. I am currently in Finance and want to switch to tech for a more flexible and promising career. Becoming a Software tester is a good place for me to start.
I would say it is a great place to start as it has a great career path I would say for any personality type. Either you may want to be a leader or something else it is definitely diverse enough for you to choose from. 👌🏽
I am a non technical Project Manager and I want to understand the QA side of the software/IT business. I feel like it will help me ensure better delivery and customer satisfaction. I am loving your chanel. Can you suggest a good course that I can take to get a complete understanding of QA? I dont have any formal Software Engineer or CS education or Coding experience btw.
That’s great that you are learning it, it will definitely helio you be a better manager when you understand how stuff works. I will only suggest my own stuff as I can’t vouch for anyone else’s since I have not gone through them haha. I just started a community where I am going to start adding more stuff, more in depth stuff actually as well as share my course in the upcoming time. How can I get a remote job like this, I mean what are the skills I need
You nees to learn software testing basica and then in real life how to apply those skills. You can start off as a sodtware tester and grow in many directions as a QA Engineer, QA Lead or something else you wish ☺️
Any suggestions for training to become a software tester?
For sure to learn from other experienced folks, it will make the road to those skills much shorter! I am working on a course right now and will also provide such a thing to others very soon 😊
Great content!! First time watching your videos and it clarify a lot of doubts to me XD. Kind regards from Dominican Republic
