    So I guess the question is, was this Bulls team better Larry Bird's Celtics at their high point in the 1980's. Larry's Celtics won 3 championships, but not in a row and by this time it was irrelevant, the Bulls had taken over. I kind of forget about this, but Michael won triples with two different Bulls franchises, Scottie Pippen was the only consistent factor. The second Bulls run is considered the veteran team, but had nothing to do with this team. The Magic, Sonics, Jazz, Pacers all had more veteran time than the Bulls and they all failed.

    • @spiidey1
      @spiidey1 Před 2 lety +2

      My argument is that Larry's Celtics faced a much more talented and dangerous Finals opponent in the Lakers, which had prime Magic, Kareem, James Worthy, etc. The only comparable Finals opponent for the Bulls were the Jazz with Stockton and Malone, but neither of those players are top 10 players of all time.
      I've always thought that Jordan's Bulls got lucky because Magic retired early due to HIV, and Bird retired because of debilitating injuries.

    • @dabiznis9864
      @dabiznis9864 Před 2 lety +1

      @@spiidey1 we can always argue about the weaker teams the Bulls played in the Finals. But it wasn't because they were weak teams. We still have to recognize that finals team, no matter which it was, was the best team in the west. They fought through the season and opponents as well.
      But I will go as far to say the Bulls had more competition in the eastern conference. The Pistons, Knicks, and even Orlando Magic were all comparable teams. The Bulls beat older veterans, the stars of their era (with quite a few HOF players) and up and coming stars (Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Shaq, Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, etc.)

      @@spiidey1 >Bird won his first chip in 1981 against the Houston Rockets with a losing regular season record.
      >He won his 3rd championship against a 2nd year Hakeem on a Houston Rockets team that overperformed in the playoffs.
      Jordan didn't get lucky. He build his team from the ground up and destroyed everything in front of him.

    • @jrus690
      @jrus690 Před 2 lety +1

      When it comes down to it, I finally realize why Michael is considered the GOAT, he was the man. Statistically inferior to plenty of players, Wilt, Oscar, maybe Kareem, but unlike all of them he won consistently, like Bill did. The second triple came with injuries in every year, the Bulls still went 72, 69, 62. The only team that had comparable problems was the 93 Suns, that had lots of injuries too, but still went 62-20. The Bulls faced the Magic, who had a similar team structurally to the 80's Lakers, Kareem, Magic, James vs Shaq, Anfernee, Horace, was predicted to give the Bulls matchup problems, instead the Bulls swept them. Pat Riley stated that Kareem would have been the difference but if Shaq was not able to give the Bulls huge matchup problems what makes him think that Kareem would have been much better. What I like is that in 94 the Suns issues of no good big men suddenly comes up, as they could not beat the Rockets. The Rockets had spent the previous years barely .500 while the Suns the year before got to the finals, the big man issue was not a problem. The issue of the Bulls never playing big men teams in the finals is kind of irrelevant because those teams could never get there. Neither the Spurs, Lakers, Rockets with big men were able to beat the teams without big men.
