  • In this video, you'll see the most popular songs throughout each month in the 90s. The tunes selected for this video are the ones that reached #1 or at least ranked higher in more countries than other hits in the same month, but it's not very accurate since many of them were number one for different periods, and I didn't want to repeat any song- Top Culture

Also, there were so many memorable 1 hit wonder that we prob appreciate more today because people could actually sing, even if some were annoying at the time. It's almost impossible to hear a new mainstream song without that awful robotic autotune. The soul has completely been removed from music, that being the human voice. I stopped following modern mainstream music because of this. I couldn't name you 5 chart songs from the past 6 years.

I think many people consider the 90's as the best decade in the history of pop music. Digital era ruined the music industry. As time goes by, we have much less talented artists in the mainstream. Ariana Grande is one of a few artists of this generation who is actually talented. The rest is meh, especially since many TikTokers now have a "singing" career.

All I can say is, I was born in 78, and I would have to say it was the 90's that I felt was MY music. Music that I and my generation had a direct impact in making it big, and I am so proud of myself for loving Mariah Carey the second she got on the scene. Because of this, Mariah Carey is my favorite singer and I own more albums of hers than anyone else. And mind you, I grew up on country and heavy metal..... Mariah carey was a regular in the top 10 throughout the 90s, no joke. Sometimes she would have 2 or 3 songs within the top 50 for weeks, at least in European charts cos I'm from Europe. My baby sister was into her I got fed up lol. This list doesn't cover 1% of the 90s my friend but it's good start. You could Google the top 10 charts of the U.S or the UK markets per year per month to get a more accurate idea of what people were into. Thanks man.

OMG, out of all the ones you haven't heard before, even though there are some great ones I think what I'd like most is "Angel of Mine" by Monica. I normally like rock etc. more than R&B but that song breaks all my usual rules it's so beautiful.

It means more Corey Hart, too, who has a huge catalog for you, JoVaughn!
(To that end, you could do a British Invasion week too, a Europe Week, an Asia Week, an Australia Week, so on, so on.)

Culture Beat - 'Mr. Vain' Sep. 1993 - is a German group and a hole bunch of music with that sound - like 'Mr. Vain' came out in Scandinavia at that time and since 2011 - we have had a 12 hrs Festival - called 'Love the 90s' - and runs in 8-9 towns in Denmark and some in Sweden as well (not at the same time lol - but during May - Sep.) - every year.
This year the line up are: Coolio, Bomfunk MC's, BLUE, DJ Encore, Cartoons, Blümchen, HEROES feat. Snap!, Dr. Alban and Haddaway - Presented by Chief 1, 5ive, Alice Deejay - Judith Pronk, Crystal Waters, Solid Base, East 17, La Cream, Kate Ryan, Sukkerchok, Toy-Box, Pulsedriver, Dario G, Darren Bailie of the Guru Josh Project, Space Frog, Janice Robinson Original Livin’ Joy, Paradisio, Robin S and DJ SASH! VS. JAY FROG :-)
And Culture Beat was there back in 2017 and 2 Unlimited, Cascada, DJ Sash!, Dr. Bombay, Barcode Brothers, Heather Small the voice of M People, Vengaboys, Corona, La Bouche, Captain Hollywood Project, Daze, Infernal, Cut'N'Move, Rednex, Scooter, Eiffel 65, Right Said Fred, Aqua and Peter André have attended before :-)
And the fun thing is that ppl dress up like we are back in the 90s - no matter what age U were back then OR now lol - so there is a LOT of neon colored hair, clothes, shoes and accessories that day lol

Doesn't make me cool it just means I was in my 20's lived in Boston and went to a hell of a lot of bars and clubs.
