Hello! for those distraught over aging of new instruments: there are still available in huge numbers beautifully made un-aged great sounding and playing Gibson guitars! Such great news as well: you will not be trifled with comments from those with other preferences on those unboxing videos.

Marketing is fascinating isn’t it? The whole psychology of wish fulfilment, selling mojo, not overdoing it so that the customer doesn’t feel too nouveau, using some guy’s name to out custom shop the custom shop... it is all so removed from simply learning an instrument and getting good.

A real oldie guitar has a soul, sometimes more than one. They have been living through their various owners. The smell, or rather the scent is the correct one for an aged instrument. I bought a cherry red colored Les Paul standard back in 1990 which has a very distinctive flame top and it has a stamp on back of the headstock that says 'Custom shop edition' but I'm not convinced it is.
The guitar came with the same case that the Les Paul's in this video come with but there was no documentation proving it was a Custom Shop edition that's why I'm doubtful . It's very lightweight compared to other Les Paul standards and has unreal tone . I bought a black LP and it's considerably heavier and doesn't sound nearly as good.

I just got a 2021 Gibson 58' MLA Burbon Burst (Ultra Light) yesterday. Amazingly light and a perfect setup, right out of the box. One of the best guitars I've ever had the privilege of playing.
I am not in love with the guitar case. It just doesn't seem very sturdy or well built. Really perplexing considering the price of what its suppose to protect.
My 2020 Gibson LP Goldtop STD and Heritage H150 have much better, more sturdy cases.
When I first took it out of the box, the guitar was actually moving slightly inside the case. I cringe thinking it shipped that way.
I opened it up and there's a little pink pillow under the headstock. I took that and put it on top of the guitar bridge and that seemed to remedy most of the moving.
There seems to be way too much wiggle room for the guitar, vertically (up and down?) Putting the pillow on top gave it a bit more support.
Maybe that pillow is supposed to be on the base of the guitar. It didn't ship that way.
And no trust rod wrench/tool to be found.
Every Gibson I've purchased the past 15 years has had a truss rod wrench. Are they really shipping custom shops like this? My Goldtop came with a really nice tool AND a strap.
I know it seems a little petty but I thought that was one if the perks of getting a guitar like a Custom Shop. The fine details...even the case.
I'm probably going to end up getting an aftermarket case. Carrying this thing just doesn't instill a ton if confidence.
Just thought I'd share, wondering if anyone else had the same experience.

If there was another guy unboxing the next guitar, while showing the current guitar, we wouldn't have to wait and watch the unboxing. It's boring. It’s nuts to say that an “overly flamed” top is not authentic or like a PRS. Real vintage Les Pauls were all over the place with flame and grain (and mineral streak imperfections). The BEST ones always have more flame (looks wise). PRS is different and flames are more defined because of how they stain the tops (darker stains sanded back).

Don't want to be misery guts! And they are beautiful looking guitars! But in my opinion this is getting a bit silly now! Brand new Les Paul's made to look 60 year old ,and gigged to hell! And paying an enormous price for! Who buys these to hang on wall? Don't wish to sound snobbish but I just bought a squier Tele, and it sounds great, plays well, and if we ever get a chance to play live again I'll defo be using it at gigs! And it will get bruised in the rough and tumble,it's unavoidable mostly 🤔
