It's beyond me why anyone would spend 50 or even 20K for a beat-up LP. Everyone knows it isn't the real thing, and it won't make you play like Peter. Think of what you could do with 20-50K... 🤷♂️
👍👏👏👏👏👍
I don't think it sounds great for that price......and it's ugly af....🎸🤘🎸
You could definitely get one of each 57, 58, 59, 60 Reissues for sure! And put your own wear and tear on them with peace of mind of originality. Throw in a Yngwie Strat for good measure too.
For the people who will buy it, 20k is like spending 200 for us so...
It's beyond me why you would worry about what other people spend in a Free Market Economy.
I bought this guitar for my son to play in his high school band and the other kids made fun of him for only having the $20k version and not the $50k version.
Screw them damn kids… my seven year old comes home from school with stories all the time… parents need to be parents and correct their pos kids… manners and respect are non existent… we used to be able to co exist with our neighbors…and even have conversations and be grateful for what we had…
Wtf kinda rich kids are those?
You wanna be my dad?
The kids knew there was a 50k version?
Sorry but serves you right if your kid goes to Eton or something, nobody would even know otherwise
Something doesn't seem right about having a 50k recreation guitar, then making a lesser version of the same guitar and charging 20k for it. 20k should be plenty enough buying power for a perfect recreation. And if it's not a perfect recreation, then what are you spending 20k on?
The 50k version was dinner with Kirk Hammett. That was a big chunk of it.
I am waiting for the 100K recreation.
LMAO you know its coming. They'll sell these guitars
for what ever investors are willing to pay.
@@Wargasm54 Well I heard Kirk Hammett eats like a bird so that can't be where it comes from.
tbo every good luthier can do a perfect recreation job of this for under 8k xD why anyone ever would buy one of those wont get into my head
This version looks like an aged new guitar. Fail
I love how we are acting like the $20k is the budget version. "I am surprised they did this on the $20k version" as if a $20k guitar is so low end that they could skip appointments.
Regular players aren't spending $20K for a guitar.
Of course not. But it isn’t for regular players. Gibson makes a ton of guitars that serves nearly every purpose.
The only & I mean ONLY way I’m pay as much for a guitar as a small car is if I am a billionaire. Other than that, I’m gonna wait until I can slap down the $3200 for the Gibson USA version.
@Gustav Vader My comment was in response to Trogly saying if you're just a regular player, you'll like this guitar. Regular players can't afford it.
@@county365 Exactly.
@@county365 I feel the same way. I couldn’t possibly live with myself for buying a $20,000 replica. You’ll love the one you find! Good luck!
This costs exactly 10x what I would pay for any nice guitar.
Indeed. It’s not trying to compete in tone with anything. Gibson makes $1300 guitars that can sound as good as this. Let’s be honest, pickups are pickups. Once you plug into an amplifier, distortion, pedals. The pickups are meaningless. They make about a 1% difference at most. It’s all about the speakers you listen though and how the amp is setup. These guitars are about recreating famous guitars. A lot of work goes into them, they limit production because of this and the fact that they keep the collector market thriving. Pick any standard off the rack and you can find the tones. But the look and feel? No.
@@gustavvader2207 I disagree with the sentiment that pickups don't matter. Do they matter less the more effects you pile on? Sure. Can the average person hear differences in the mix? Maybe a handful. Can players associate the 'heat' or resistance of pickups or the winding style of the pickups to a certain playing style? Absolutely, and that matters more than anything else... Not to mention, single coil vs p90 vs mini hum vs gold-foil vs jazzmasters vs PAFs vs Modern actives and so on and so on... that's a massive difference to every tone you could possibly dial in.
I definitely agree that artificial scarcity is a plague on collector communities and is disingenuous, but "the pickups are meaningless" just irked me and I had to say that, sorry lol
Hence you aren't the target audience for this guitar. It's for collectors and obviously that ain't you.
@gustavvader2207 No. Pickups are everything. The differences between identically wound Alnico 5, Alnico 2, and Ceramic magnet humbuckers are profound. P90s are different from all three, and actives like EMGs are different from all. The two biggest determining factors for any electric guitar are the pickups, and the amplifier. Body tone woods are a distant third, and fretboard differences are negligible (in sound, that is. I'll be the first to admit to vast differences in feel and appearance). Great pickups in an otherwise cheap (but still playable) guitar will sound a hundred times better than cheap pickups in a great guitar. Always.
@@houseomiller Incorrect. Speaker and EQ stack are the two most important things to an unrecorded electric guitar sound. Pickup height and pickup POSITION make a much bigger difference than winding and magnets. Profound”? “100x better”? No, grow up.
Gibson accountant "Only twenty grand , no way are we putting the stencil on the case of these!" 😅
I'm 70. I had the opportunity to see the version of Fleetwood Mac that featured Peter Green on the original of this guitar at Fillmore East in the fall of 1969. One of just a few shows I passed on that history has proved to have been a big mistake. Did see Led Zeppelin 3 times in 1969 as well as The Who. But to have seen the tandem guitars of Mr. Green and Mr. Kirwan, that would have been something. Thank you for the informative review.
I'm 71 and saw FM in concert in Austin summer of 1969 Green, Kerwin, and Jeremy Spencer. Jethro Tull opened.
@@deuteronimus750 that sounds like an AMAZING show.
I saw the original band at the Miami Pop Festival
I passed on the DEAD at Highgate VT back in 95. I didnt have any money, so when my friends piled into a van and headed up there I thought I was good with my decision.
I didnt know GERRY was going to pass away, or that the gate/ fence would be torn down making buying a ticket a moot point.
I will be kicking myself until we come to Glory...
Why would anyone pay more then even $2800.00 for any guitar? I mean, it's not even vintage. Its aged. Give me a break!
I play guitar because I love the music…my guitars are just tools…I have no interest in owning any of this stuff, however, it is fun and interesting to watch!!!
But it's a beautiful guitar before Murphy got a hold of it
I was never into a worn out looking guitar. I like the brand new looking ones.
Yeah, I'd rather wear it out myself than pay extra to have it worn out for me.
Wow what an original opinion
I am not a Bot
I like aged guitars that I wore. Like every scratch has a story behind it.
I promise you there's not a single person with the money for a $20k guitar that wouldn't be able to afford a $50k guitar.
$20k to $50k is a massive difference for anyone of any means.
Baseless comment. I can afford a $40k car, but not a $100k.
Truth. For anyone saying otherwise…if someone can spend $20K on a casual hobby item like a guitar, $50K isn’t much more for them. If that $30K difference makes a big impact on your bank account..you’re prob not spending $20K on a guitar either. My guess, this $20K Greeny is prob targeted to the buyers who would have bought the $50K one but missed out on it due to the limited numbers.
@@rocktorrocks That may be true for some people with income levels and/or wealth above a certain point. However for people of average wealth, $20k to $50k is a huge jump. It's not like we're talking $20k to $25k or even $30k which might be justifiable to some people for the exclusivity factor. Spending $7k on a regular Custom Shop R9 is a dream for 95% of the players out there that they'll never get to actually live. Just saying "regular" and "$7k" in the same sentence even sounds outlandish if you think about it.
Well, it has to be said, I wasn't expecting Thin Lizzy to be the first thing on the playing demo, given that Moore wasn't a member when Jailbreak was written...
I really don't get the costs on either of them. 20k? Thats just insane, even for me that has been to 15 Metallica concerts since 1986. Hell I still have issues paying 2k for a Gibson...
I have an old Silvertone with a beautiful Brazilian rosewood fretboard. I'd be willing to sell it for $20k.
How come every single episode featuring a signature edition only serves to rack up more reasons for me to avoid them?
Either one costs more than the regular player would be able to afford. Neither would be something that I would be comfortable gigging with. Cheers to those that can lay down that cash for either. My wife just gifted me a used Dean Dime Slime ML and the $1,400 she spent was still ridiculously expensive to me. But I love it, and her lol
Also wanted to share how I had to explain my “First Fret Neck Depth” shirt at church on Wednesday night… 😂
I love promoting your channel. Best on CZcams!
I’m waiting for the custom shop version of the Shroud of Turin. Because I couldn’t afford the signed, limited edition copy, with the special trip to the Holy Land. The tomb candy sucks, too.
About a decade ago, Fender did a reissue of Gary's historic red Strat. It too was super expensive.
But before Gary passed, Gibson made a regular signature Les Paul for him. Not a limited edition, just a no-frills, no-nonsense rock & roll machine for everyday musician, for around $2k, or maybe even less. Gary even used it onstage. Quite a decent guitar, if the reviews were to be believed.
I guess those days are forever gone.
There's something about replicating aging and artificial aging in general that just doesn't sit right with me
Agreed
I concur
If someone is into, hey cool.
But to me it feels like, “Hey, beat up this guitar, and I will pay you for it”
Yeah, I kinda feel like you should let your own guitar age. I’m not sure you should be spending 20k on a guitar if you haven’t been playing long enough for your more sensibly priced guitar to age.
While I agree, I don't blame Gibson for making a profit on relic jobs.
I was a member of the Marquee Club in the 60's. I saw Peter Green play with John Mayall after Eric left. That was important as I am a Blues fan, they had a similar style overall. Of course, you have got the 'Hard Road' Album from that period, 1966/67. Then you have got Peter Green joining 'Fleetwood Mac' (when it was a proper Blues/Rock band). You've got the album just called 'Fleetwood Mac' (1967), 2 Albums giving us a record of those special times, all played on a Les Paul. The value of any guitar is held by the beholder, as I agree, also plus the rarety. I think one collector in Japan paid a $ million for a Les Paul of this period with a particularly fine and outstanding Flame Top (correct me if I am wrong). I do love your videos, you put a lot of work into them, it is good to hear a balanced view as well, thank you. My question is why doesn't it have the 'Les Paul Signature' on the head-stock? I have a picture of a 1954 Gold-Top with the Les Paul signature on it. Buying 2nd hand you would expect to see it? David, England.
i kind of wish they wouldn't call it Kirk Hammett's model and just call it Greeny since there are so many amazing artist associated with that guitar.
Waiting for the $2000 Epiphone version next, then.
Yeah... I was pumped when Cesar Gueikian hinted there would be an Epi version but if they're asking $1300 for the korina Explorer and V then a Greeny will be $1500 minimum. A regular Epi 1959 with a set of Bare Knuckle PG Blues pickups (other repro sets are available) has to be 90% of the way there.
Yep
@@Gordanovich02 the regular epi '59 is $400 less, has same electronics and comes with a case, but Gibson will be Gibson and milk it.
Korina isn't as special, rare or expensive as Gibson likes to portray it to be, they just like milking with it.
I have the $700 made in Vietnam "Vintage PG100" and that's probably the best that I can do. It's not bad. You can borrow it for a review if you want.
Great idea. When the Gibson USA version lands, Austin should DEFINITELY do a shootout between this one, the USA and the Vintage. I gigged one of those for a few years. Nice guitar - very light though. Chambered, I’m pretty certain with a thin maple cap that split on mine near the control knobs, unfortunately. Paid£150 for it used. And still got more for it than l paid.
I loved my Vintage lemon drop, for what it was, a great beater guitar with surprisingly good tones out the box. I wrecked it by putting slash Seymour's in it, don't get me wrong it was awesome but I wished if stuck them on another guitar and kept it stock. It had a great resonance to it, all you really need to do is upgrade the pots and switches and you have a fantastic gigging guitar. The Wilkinson buckers were quite nice.
VINTAGE make excellent affordable guitars. I had a LP deluxe. What a beast! I love heavy guitars. I have not come across a VINTAGE that did not impress me. For the price point? Beats everyone else, and they are awesome mod platforms.
New locking tuners, New pickups and away we go.
I believe the Standard USA come with the same pickups also.
Are these, just the 50;000k seconds from the custom shop?😊
I was fortunate to meet Peter Green in a dressing room back many years ago, he was gifted in several ways. He was also a nice generous man, we exchanged guitars, he played my Strat and I played his Les Paul. It played like butter. Now all you boys out there who relish this guitar, go out and buy one you like, play a bunch, the age it yourself. Find a great luthier who can make yours play like butter and go rock your ass off.
I'm intrigued by these reviews, but the idea that anyone would spend this kind of money on a guitar - any guitar - is shocking to me.
My next purchase will be a new beat up 1957 Chevrolet coupe with 100,000 miles. All rusty. Trashed out interior. You know. And I'm planning to pay ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS. That'll make me feel really good.
Reminds of that book "The Emporer Wears No Clothes"
The authoritative history of the cannabis plant?
😹
Wood is not expensive. Don't let anyone tell you a guitar is expensive because of the wood. I know Brazilian rosewood is rare, but if you're buying a 20k recreation a Brazilian rosewood fretboard is only being held back because they're trying to justify the 50k guitar.
If a replica Ferrari 250 GTO costs 20 Million, is it odd that an exact replica costs 200k? Why would it be different for a 1-2million dollar guitar to have a replica that was more than 1k?
what you're paying for is the prestige and the labor. A Brazilian rosewood board would only cost them a few extra bucks to source. My complaint is that for 20k, they could have put on a correct fretboard. Especially considering they've offered it on less expensive models.
Well then, at that price I should probably only get two.
$20,000,thats about $1,000 per scratch. For that amount of money,I'm thinkin' ten minutes at Burger King with Kirk Hammett.
If you have a Gibson with humbuckers that you really like to play, re-wiring it for the “Peter Green” sound is a relatively simple mod. The big thing with his Les Paul was the middle position toggle sound-i.e. both pickups together. His neck pickup had been reversed, which happened by mistake during a repair. The resulting sound was unique and became a signature sound of that guitar. I had my ES 345 rewired to get that sound. The neck pickup has a push-pull volume pot. When it’s out, that pickup is out of phase when combined (in the middle toggle position) with the bridge pickup. When pushed in, the middle position puts it back into the typical, two humbucker Gibson wiring and sound. I can’t tell you the how-to of it because I’m dumb like that. What I can tell you is, that it makes the Peter Green quack a reality. If it’s that middle sound you desire, rewiring is a hell of a lot cheaper than the money grab of $20-50K. But, that’s just me …
It’s not as easy as flipping the pickup around, it’s flipping the magnets inside around
@@danieljaymeshansel5086 Yes, I know that. But lots of viewers and readsers do not. It was easier to describe it as I did.
I flipped the magnet in my bridge humbucker, got the same out of phase effect in the middle, really nice tone with the right volume setting
CS Greenie looks and sounds cool. But black paint on the tailpiece instead of chemical aging, can it be true? For $20,000, and keeping the whole point of "Greeny" authenticity, this seems like a really dumb move simply to limit cost and would make me return mine too. But then I'm skeptical of these wholesale tribute projects' value in the first place. You can only inflate the market so much. (EG see SVB for what happens eventually to hot air valuations.)
The gibson USA version also has the greeny bucker pickups which ultimately means it will sound pretty much the same as the custom shop version
So I am one of these lawyers who bought this guitar. The first one had cracks in the lacquer (not from the aging, but from obvious lacquer issues), the second I got in exchange from my dealer had no mojo (for me) and the third (I was lucky to be able to exchange it a second time!) is absolutely gorgeous. It's a keeper. Would I do it again? Not sure. Why did I buy it? I wanted a gibson LP for my 40th birthday, and then this came along. I had to do buy it. Not sure if it was a good financial investment since these are appearing from time to time at other dealers, but it is definitely a very rare guitar with a story attached to it. Also: who can say that they owned three of those? Call me stupid, but overall I am happy. Thanks for the great and detailed review of this instrument!
Looking forward to the review of the next Greedy.
Just for the 3 reissues Gibson put out for Kirk Hammett is $85,000. Insane
And it's not even Kirks main guitar. I've always associated him with ESP. but maybe that's the point, not even the guy who's name is on it plays it. It's a collectors guitar for people with cash to burn
Kirk can afford it. Let's be real, the economy is in the tank right now as far as disposable income. Gibson isn't stupid. They know a lot of people can't afford their guitars right now. This is why I believe they've put so much extra work into the inspired by gibson epiphones. If they can't sell a gibson at this time, they'd rather sell an epiphone instead of losing the sale completely to another company.
@@rb343 But still Gibson doesn't go all out with Epiphone. They are still using the Kalamazoo headstock that while nice, it's not the open-book headstock used in the Gibson models. That's why brands like Tokai and Edwards are still around, providing something the big G still don't want to do
Thanks for the review. Been following these. Would be interested in your analysis and comparison of these and the new LP standard Greeny - the $3199 version. I wish they would make a middle road version for around 6-8k. I’d be in for that. After all who can realistically afford even a 20k version. Surely there is a half way point.
It should be called the Peter Green Les Paul
That guitar sounds fantastic, Austin! I would very happy to have one of those if l could afford it. Sadly, l can’t. I’d love to get my hands on one of the USA ones. Interesting, though, to remember that Gary Moore didn’t play on any of the Lizzy songs you played in the demo… that was Scott Gotham and Brian Robertson, both of whom always favoured 70s Les Paul Deluxes with mini humbuckers.:)
Though Scott's main / most favoured Les Paul was a '58 burst.
so I put some Greenybuckers in my Epi Lazarus ( beautiful mini tiger flame veener top), and the pickups are incredible sounding, i will change out the mallory caps for some bumble bee's and mis matched nobs & grovers and change it into a Lazarus greeny . $20,000 or $50,000 is too much 4 me , but the $1500 epi greeny is reasonable , but my Lazarus greeny feels so good, and it plays so well , and i will roll with that.
I’m also looking forward to the standard’s review 👏👏
I am really rich. I have bought 6 of these to put in glass cases all around my mansion. Did I mention that I don't play guitar. It doesn't matter . Many of my rich friends who have bought these don't play either.
When you look at faux-distressed finish on furniture, you start to recognize patterns in the dings and dents, like they only have a handful of templates they hammer in. They’re recognizable like constellations. I feel like I see similar repeated patterns in some of these “relic” guitars.
One thing I've been wondering about a new reliced guitar is do they put all the protective plastics over the pickups and pick guards. As far as the Casino I finally got earlier this year it wasn't aged. It's the natural finish so I had to wait longer for it. But the protective plastics I haven't removed but the one over the pick guard is already rolling up from where the raised E branding on the pick guard is. I'm sure it won't be long. My LP traditional pro III I left all of it on till it started bubbling up and looking like hell. Didn't affect how it plays so I didn't care to remove them one way or the other. I just looked up the price of a thin line Rosewood Telecaster non signature and it was around $5k. One day I hope to aquire one but I was also wishing theyd do one in a baritone model. Would kill to birds one stone for me. Guess I'll have to do a Squire Telecaster baritone for now.
Most of my guitars still have the pickguard plastic on them, and several still have the hang tags. I know most will probably move on when I crave something new...
Chibson can make the same for 1k, save the 19k for dinner.
No new guitar is worth 20k
Sounds great Mr Trog it better for that kind of scratch “Oh Well” was written on that axe that’s a sick jam
Core PRS, Murphy Lab Les Paul and a Soldano half stack 100 w! Still have 5k left over!!
I'm not a fan of fake patina because every time you look down at it, you know it's not real. I call this : Murphy scabbed. A very expensive scab. lol
I understand that, but it’s either a replica or only one person on the planet will ever own that look at a time. So, I’m glad they do them.
@@gustavvader2207 I hear you. But that would have been a lovely R9 VOS.... :(
In my book they are as fake as a Chibson!
@@AndrewAHayes haha...I just don't get the desire. It's like wow, I just paid $20k for a fake and I'm supposed to be happy?? To each their own, but I just can't. Even some VOS is now pushing the limits for me.
@@PopeyeFPV incredibly true.
I got some Seymour Duncan green magic pick ups individually. They sound great but together I actually flipped over the neck pick up and it didn’t make a big difference still out of maze not good on my ibanez copy
Question for the pros here...is there any way to tell the difference between neck and bridge pickups without a multimeter on pickups that have no adjustable poles? Just 2 rows of non adjustable slugs?
Without knowing the pickup’s relative output, you’d just have to try each pickup in each position and see what sounds best to your ear. I’d recommend getting a multimeter; they’re not expensive, and it will save you a bunch of time swapping pickups around.
I've read the '84 explorer should release within the first week of next month.
Look forward to the 3K review, interested to hear about the neck feel and pickup sound, not so into relics - prefer brand new 🙏
I could take that $20,000 and buy a 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am to take all my gear, including my already paid for ‘88 Gibson Les Paul Silverburst and ‘84 Ibanez DT555 Destroyer, to my next gig and still have my front seat available for the wife…. If I collect something it’s gonna be something I can either drive or play. I love Gary Moore and Peter Green…. but that much money for a replica…. I’ll buy the car, thank you!
Interesting because I sold my 1972 Chevelle SS so I could buy this Greeny and the rest for a house remodel project. I however, still have my 1970 Charger. 😉
The more something is beat up, the more is costs. What a concept!
WHAT A LAUGH, THERE IS A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE!
Just seen two go up for sale in the UK and deducting the serial numbers gives a number of 575. I'm not an expert on Gibson serial numbering, but could this indicate there are at least this number of 20K versions out there?
If so, how does this affect future value (if bought for investment) when compared to Gibson limited runs of say 50 - 100?
I wonder if the X-Ray machine is on hold
I would never pay 20k for a guitar unless i was planning on selling it.
Excellent review!
I don't know what's more interesting today the comments or the demo😂
That headstock 'break' is nearly identical to the way my SG broke when a kid threw it out a 2nd floor window.
Should have sent the kid right behind it.

Hello Fellow guitar heads.
Hello random dude
Well done Random, you earned a Silver Medal.
Hello 👋
Please don’t take all the strings off at once 🙏
20,000 for a guitar is absolutely ridiculous and I can't believe that people pay for someone else's wear and tear as I prefer making my own.
The house I grew up in during the 70s was about 20k
This guitar has always looked up to me I seen a collectors choice edition one signed by Gary Moore himself in a guitar shop that isn't there anymore but I'd always see it and I'd be like that a cool guitar but this was before I was good at guitar when I was about 9/12 now I'm 14 and these are being made, really want one but I can't afford it
Purchased the epiphone Lazarus LP and made my own Greenie 😅
That’s the reason why this guitar is still available…20k is crazy money for this piece
I have a gorgeous 2021 Gibson LP Lemonburst Standard that I'm going to throw a set of these pickups in when they become available and call it good
did they have plastic inlays or mother of pearl...mine looks like its MoP
I play my $80 pawn shop Epiphone II Special and I can still pretend I am the Green God.
Just imho, Kirk Hammett should have signed the back of headstocks with those permanent markers, just like Slash did on so many of his and especially for the price, the history of the guitar, and really the history of Metallica. Kirk has earned his place as one of the greatest guitarists of any heavy metal band and with what a customer is expected to pay, his personal autograph or at least his initials should be on the back of those headstocks.
Just watched the $3199.00 Greenie review that you did, and I was so underwhelmed. I appreciate that you kept the amp at the same settings for the reviews. Gotta say, unless I won the lottery, a 20k guitar will never happen, but it does sound pretty great.
I wouldn't spend that kinda money on any of them. Lottery or not
@@SHENDOHI think that any Collectors Choice Les Paul would be even better even for a less money. About 8-15K$ and there would be also a charismatic looking and sophisticated sound.
Interesting video. Someone please explain what I'm supposed to hear different out of a $50,000 guitar.
He just said the $20k and the $50k models sound very similar
@@peejay6930 probably sounds similar to my $2800.00 60's standard too. Just dumb.
@Bert Piotrowski I'm with you there, if I could bu a $50K guitar and turn it for $100K, I'm in. Other than that, I think Gibson has a pretty high opinion of themselves. But they in conjunction with the new inspired by gibson epiphones is an awesome deal for a player. I don't think epiphones have ever been better. At least 3 minimum I can think of, the firebird the sg les paul, and the 59 les paul!
i just wish Gibson would include a Bar of Chocolate in the case candy ..it could be GIBSON branded Chocolate.
I myself would not buy an "aged" or "relict" guitar. I do like looking at them, seeing the player's story written all over it. You can imagine all the time the guitarist put into playing it. But that is their story, not mine. I don't buy used guitars, especially Gibson's because it's so easy to get disappointed. I buy new and put my own scratches and dings (at the minimum as possible of course). I know that vintage guitars are the most desired, but I think the quality of new guitars today is phenomenal, we are making our own future vintage. And the price point is better too.
At 20-50k you could record that album properly and launch your career while playing a Standard.
But....I've already got a Les Paul.
-Jimmy Page
I do like the period correct pink interior in the case, I personally had one like that for a '76 Les Paul, that I'm certain WASN'T what it should've came with! Great show - on with it...
This is the new problem with Gibson, no player wants or can afford these guitars.. Gibson is just grabbing cash from collectors.. No offense Trogly, but these are worthless to the real-world guitar players.
Tell me why the epiphone Korina V costs $1300 then? Because of build materials and finish quality. When you buy a Murphy lab aged guitar, you're paying for the hours and hours of attention and experience it takes to make the guitar feel like its actually 64 years old. Youre paying a premium for period correct woods and finishing and wood joinery techniques. You're paying for the time they spent carefully recreating the pickups to the exact spec of the original, sourcing period correct parts for wiring harnesses. It all adds up. And yeah, players might not have the money to buy one. Sucks to suck huh?
Exactly, I feel the same. I'm also not a fan of fake aging. That should come naturally over time. This sounds like any other Gibson Les Paul to be honest.
Same w/ fine art, most people can’t afford, but still a market for it.
I understand all sides here…. But guitars like that only apply to .00001% of guitar players… Its definitely a cash grab
@@strawsparky33 it sucks not to have 20K to spend on a glorified wall piece?? Lol you clearly don’t play guitar for fun
I'd much rather have a "New Version" (No aging ..... ) of "Greeny". Brazilian Rosewood doesn't matter to me, nor any of the "relic-ing". I am one of "those folks" that want my "New Guitar.... to Look New!
does it widdly? does it wah?
How are you getting the correct headstock angle when the entire guitar isn't level, or did I miss that or something?
Doesn’t need to be. The headstock pitch will remain the same regardless of how the guitar sits. The neck angle requires more precision
Zero the tilt-o-meter while it's on the fretboard then you get a relative measurement for the headstock...
Will you be testing the standard greeny soon? $3200 what does that get you?
It is paint on the tailpiece. It scratches right off.
Funny that Prs can use a brw board on a 5k guitar. Yet Gibson can't on a 20k? Seems a little ridiculous.
Salutations Austin!
I think I would actually be more interested in a brand new Les Paul that has all of the functional electronics and hardware that represent what makes the original instrument sound and perform as it now does, but without the cosmetic alterations that makes it appear as a replica of the original guitar. I would not really be interested in the simulated damage and wear and tear, nor of the appearance that the machines had been replaced, instead, just the new ones. Essentially, what the original instrument would have been, had it been built in the Gibson factory with all the current modifications without the cumulative effects of all of the decades that have passed.
Thank you for posting these videos!
Please have an excellent and awesome day!

I’d rather see an affordable Epiphone Jimmy Page ‘59 relic than a Epi “Greeny”
To some people buying a guitar that cost 20k is like buying a new pair of shoes .
I'm not one of thoughs .
Buy the epiphone Greenie
👍
Trogly, When are you reviewing the Standard? Need to see it!!
Shipping delays - probably early next week. Saturday if we are really lucky
@@Trog can’t wait to hear your thoughts
I’ve got a ‘91 Studio Lite to trade, as long as you throw in some cash too.
So I bought a $40 Epiphone Studio that looked like a piece of crap cause someone had tried to Eddy Van Halenize it and he messed up the electronics in it. So I had a friend do a Custom Paint Job It's a beautiful Cherry Sunburst which I outfitted with Cream accessories really quite Sparkley Red and Gold with Root Beer sides and Neck. There was no way to really bring the wood grain out so he made up for it in sparkles. Anyway our other friend set it up and did the electronics and I had asked for The Greenie wiring or perhaps wired like a Peavey T60 with phase switch. Well he made it a Greenie with the out of phase middle. The moral of this Story is I have a $40 Les Paul that sounds just as good as a 20 to 50 K guitar. And in my opinion looks way more beautiful. I am not a fan of relicing because to me that is the same thing as fake Valor. But you know to each his own. It would be interesting to see you do a review of a Peavey T 60 and another guitar would be the Ace Pro Les Paul with the Spalted Maple Top and crazy Abalone inlays.
You need to check out Steven Seagal's Guitar collection sometime, and maybe even check out Albert King's Guitar (Lucy).
Gibson needs to come out with a 9-11 Memorial guitar. Maybe even do a collaboration with the 9-11 Memorial Museum in New York. If they already have one you should try to do a review of one.
You should check out the Gibson Les Paul 9-11 Tribute Guitars. I think there are three of them. I think they were named "Never Forget " "Always Honor" and "Forever Free "
Please don't mention Albert King and Steven segal in the same sentence
