      @pal_lokomotivet2679 Před 2 lety +2

      He was the bets long distance in the world. Best triathlete is for sure Kristian right now. Current olympic champion, world series and two of the best times in both 70.3 and full. No question about who is best at Triathlon. Triathlon is more than just full distance

      @@pal_lokomotivet2679 however, "best" is more than just the fastest. These are races, and Jan very rarely misses. Kristian is either all on, or far off. Other than mechanical or injury, Jan is going to be front pack all day. Kristian has off days.

      @@pal_lokomotivet2679 nah, If you see the performance of the guys Kristian raced against you will realize how fast that course was due to conditions.
      Just look how they performed at other races and you will see Kristian is very good but some of Jans performances (e.g. Kona 19 and even TriBattle) were actually better.
      The biggest question is - can Jan maintain his level or will he get more and more injouries (like we see now) because of his age and cannot reach his full potential anymore.

      @@pal_lokomotivet2679 that's true. Will be interesting to see if he stays on top for many years like Jan.
      Blu is very strong for sure. Because of him people forget about Gustav. I am still not sure who is the best Norwegian for middle / longdistance. Would not be surprised if Gustav wins St.George.
      PS: i think Blu is very good, but not the best LD athlete. I think Jan, Patrick and Gustav are better. Some others are close If in shape (Sam Long, Lionel Sanders and Sebastian Kienle)

    Jan Frodeno will always have a special place to me (i was born in 1981, for what he achieved), but i think that the new generation is coming up and are pushing the limits in the world of long distance triathlon: Kristian Blummenfelt, Gustav Iden, , Sam Long,.. Even Lionel Sanders (i'm a big fan of) will probably gonna have hard times against them.

    I don't understand the hype for Kristian Blumenfelt. He did world best on a course WAY to short for a normal ironman distance. I'm surprised anyone even speaks of it. He is olympic distance champion and it's nearly impossible to be a world-class long distance triathlete just several months later. And even if he did it, it brings no good light on his opponents of tokyo. I need more than 2 races to recognise someone as comparable to a Jan Frodeno. Nevertheless, he can and probably will be something like Jan in the future

    • @pal_lokomotivet2679
      @pal_lokomotivet2679 Před 2 lety +1

      He is the Olympic champion, world champ, had the two previous 70.3 records and word leading time in full distance. Everyone know by now the swim had a good current but taking this into account this time is still topp 2 all time. He would still crush Jans race record. The only time better would be Jans special event record. The level on the Olympic distance is much much harder. So if anything this says alot about the in the ironman circus. If you dont understand the hype then you dont understand triathlon
