Oooo you made that last spot look SOO good!! And honestly the price didn't seem that bad, I've definitely seen a LOT more expensive sushi than that hahah
Hukuya is my local, and I’ve been enjoying sushi here since the 1980s. It’s one of the longest-lasting restaurants in Eastwood and has been of a consistently high quality. I’m delighted to see it get recognition here.
hah so weird, my notification for this came out last night but this was posted 24 may! :O weird...! also was drunk when i saw this post HAHAH so couldnt watch last night
Nice sushi review Janice! 👍🏻👍🏻 We loveeeee sushi as well. We also have a lot of Sushi Hub stores in Melbourne. Love them because it’s easy to get for take away, and the taste is also all right with the price being affordable too. We love watching worth it series by buzzfeed too haha ❤️ a good inspiration for your video indeed!
Hey Janice, I’ve been indulging on your amazing Sydney multicultural food vlogs and I’m stoked and proud as a Japanese to find your video on Sushi! It’s hard to come across authentic sushi in Sydney compared to the 90s during the influx of Japanese immigrants. Sushi E is definitely comparable to what we can get in Japan, but as you say - it is extremely pricey. I would absolutely recommend you to try Sushi Kaido in Chatswood (Chef Hishinuma) $$, Shinsengumi in Crows Nest (Chef Matsui) $$, Kabuki Shoroku in the CBD (previously Chef Ōgaki) $$$, Komaru in Neutral Bay (Chef Nagashima) $$ when you have the chance :)
CU Next Tuesday Lol. great vid, will check out Hakuya for sure, always walked past it in eastwood admiring it's look and atmosphere, too bad Korean BBQ always gets out $$$ on a friday night.
Hi Janice we love sushi!! And just like here in the states there is a wide variety and price range. Thanks for including the u.s. prices it is nice to compare. NYC is as always super expensive. Looks like you have some nice options there 👍👍😁😁🥢🥢
Thank you , Janice. Very helpful video. We’ll be visiting Sydney end of the year, 2022. We have great choices for Asian foods to try thanks to you. Can you recommend Australian foods, like Aussie pies, or fine dining at reasonable prices to get authentic Australian cuisine? We’ll be there over New Year’s Eve. Any recommendations for a place to eat and watch the fireworks?
Nice one Janice! See you've gotten some inspiration from Worthit! (We love that show hehe) Sushi Hub is so good for a chain sushi joint and SushiE looks so classy! Have you tried the omakase at Shinsengumi? Apparently you've got to make hundreds of phone calls to try to get a reservation 😅
yes! love love LOVE the buzzfeed worth it series! i have tried shinsengumi a couple times a few years ago when it wasnt as popular as it is now! i really want to go again but have never been able to get my call through :( so sad.
Have you tried Azuma and Minimishima (Melbourne)? For me, they both knock Sushi-e out of the park. Also much more high-end as well. We used to have Yoshii's in The Rocks, that was the best in Sydney until it closed down a few years ago. It was the closest thing we would have to Japan at the time, now it's Minamishima.
Oh my.. eating at minimishima would be a an absolute dream! It’s one of the top 50 restaurants in the world isn’t it? Trying their omakase is a bucket list item for me
Good Evening from Seattle....I'm visiting my son, and he's running some errands so I have time to surf....I appreciate all kinds of foods but I really don't get the sushi thing....I have tried it and just can't wrap my taste buds around it...Yuck....However my son and daughter love it. Thanks again for a straight forward well done vlog......I'm trying to get thru your other videos...finished Thailand and moving to Hong Kong....Can't do the stinky tofu either......Good luck on your new direction in life.
hello! yeah i know the texture of raw fish doesnt sit well with everyone! but man.... i loveee it! thanks for watching the videos, hope you enjoy the Hong Kong ones too !
Thanks for including the US prices too! I think you forgot to change the US price on sushi E, but no big deal :) Wow now I really crave sushi, but I live in a landlocked state so I don’t really have access to good, fresh sushi 😢
The wasabi in high end sushi restaurant is freshly grated and tastes refreshingly better than those that came in a tube or pack which all cheaper sushi places used. Fresh wasabi is less hot. Actually so called wasabi used in cheaper sushi are horse radish mixed with stuff like green colouring, preservative etc.
For a cheap price point sushi and sashimi Nakashima in the rocks has been going for years . A good starting point for a sushi , sashimi restaurant cheap to expensive comparison .
you know i havent eaten breakfast.. haha, sushi hub i have to say is garbage lol :P - Hukuya is in eastwood right? yea thats the one.. ive tried that one. :D , i like one sushi place in randwick janice, but they closed down :( dang.. makoto in the city was good too.. but they sold it to a chinese owner now.. i think.. just weird to see non japanese run a sushi bar.. Sushi tengoku too was good before.. so authentic then they sold their business. now its just so bad... in kensington
sushi hub can be good if you catch it just as they make them! i used to grab their spicy tuna roll all the time. What's your go-to japanese restaurant now that all the ones you've listed have either closed down or been sold?!?
@@JaniceFung honestly after japan i havent been eating much sushi ehre in sydney, its mostly ramen joints - but if there is one i think sushi rio is pretty decent its quite OG in sussex too :D
Random but I really like tengoku and have been going there for years till now they remember me every time I go there. Don’t think they sold their business but they did move to the bigger place and the quality I think did go down a little since. Have you tried sashimi shinsengumi in crows nest? I live in Sydney... and I do go to Sushi hub alot... but i don't get the boxed stuff... just handrolls... I do feel Sushi E is not the best "high end" sushi place in Sydney... each to their own though... should give Sashimi Shinsengumi a try when Covid is over (or that's if you can manage a booking, it's close impossible, but they do platters as well)..
I tried shinsengumi years ago when it first opened.. now it’s just impossible to get a reservation. Once tried calling 50 times and still couldn’t get through..
Sushi E= Expensive! Fancy location High Rent Passed on to the Consumer! If it was served in Philippines it would be 20 cents each sushi roll, instead of $3.10! Rip Off,!
if you had to take a shot every time i said "fresh" or "melt in your mouth", how drunk would you get?
A new drinking game brought to you by Janice Fung...lol....😂🤣😜
In Australian drinking standards? Built up too much of a tolerance so I’m good still
Sushi is the best almost as good as yum cha maybe a vlog on yum cha in Sydney one day. Love your work janice.
Thanks! Yes - a yum cha vlog is definitely on my list !
Oooo you made that last spot look SOO good!! And honestly the price didn't seem that bad, I've definitely seen a LOT more expensive sushi than that hahah
Yeah...but then my wallet will be empty and my stomach only half full 😵

Thanks guys! :D yes that's how i feel with sushi hub too, especially if i can time it right and get it not too long after they've been made!
I can say, high end sushi is the only thing not overated dish when you eat out. Very honest dish ever. So yes, it’s worth to spend some budget.

Yay, another food video! All of this look so good. You are also a very good vlogger. Not overbearing but still fun. Lovely voice!
Thank you so much! They were all traps delicious🤗

Can you please do an ice cream cheap versus expensive challenge?
Glad to see Hukuya on your list. Their sashimi is super fresh and delicious. Sushi Hub is probably my favourite “fast-food sushi” chain.

Your moment in Sushi E was so enjoyable to watch
It was also very enjoyable to eat
Love that you are doing Sydney based stuff. There is a sushi place in Revesby that is cheap and amazing - Sakura Fresh Sushi
Can you make a review on turkish food in Sydney also can you make a vedio about Flemington markets 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

ah dang i didnt even realise!
oh man... where's the best place in the states to have seafood/ sushi? new york? california?
@@JaniceFung honestly I'm not sure, but Cali is probably good!
I heard Hachioji located in Willoughby is very good, expensive
Personally, Sushi Hub always has been providing goods. They’re local to my area and they’re just overall decent for its quality.
Was surprised that Sushi E uses disposable chopsticks in that nice environment and good reviews
do you have best steak restaurant comparisons ...?
sushi hub is my go-to

yes absolutely! freshly grated wasabi definitely isnt as intense as ones that come in packages
Seaweed Nigiri? I’ve never seen that in Japan
Thank you for rewiew Janice 👍 you have lovely voice I really like your voice :) -from April
Hehe thank you ! 🙏🙏
You have to try “Sashimi Shinsengumi” in Crows Nest if you’re a sushi lover.
I’ve been twice ages ago but now it’s really hard to book 😪
I love your vids so much
Thanks so much !
Really love your vids happy I sub to it looking out for more
Hey Janice, have you ever had 5 star rated to your standard and if yes, where?
Back in Sydney again :)
yes :)
i find good sushi is creamy and not too cold
I love sushi 🍣 !
you should do a sushi mukbang!
I love sushi!! One piece of advice that the wasabi and soy sauce should be separated. Do not mix them!
Shushi Hub throw out their stock every three hours, its super fresh.
For a cheap price point sushi and sashimi Nakashima in the rocks has been going for years . A good starting point for a sushi , sashimi restaurant cheap to expensive comparison .
Thanks for the rec! I’ll check it out 🙏

Makoto still belongs to the original owner in Chatswood and still in good quality.

I second Shinsengumi. Haven’t managed to get a booking, but have had their takeaway a couple of times this year and it’s been amazing.
In case no one else pointed out. At 10:48 AUD$44.50 is definitely not equivalent to USD$12.75 or am I reading that wrong?
Nah you’re right.. it was a typo by me 😅
She saved her favourite last 😂😂 like all children do
Hahahaha 😅
You don't have to put soy sauce and the fake wasabi on everything, even the seaweed salad!!.
Especially if you are supposedly rating the sushi itself.
Hey janice! Are related to the adrew and david fung?
Hey! Nah I’m not
Her accents
can we get hukuya tonight?
your shout?
