This song is probably about a girl who loses someone important. She hoped for a fleeting life and a gentle death but since that person is no longer around, she lost her way and did not felt like herself anymore. Yet she wants to live because that person’s life gets worse because of her. She thinks this is a form of punishment for her.
P/s: I want to thank Moimi for this song. It is the first time I heard of Sekai. Based on the way Moimi tunes her, she sounds wonderful!
sekai's voicebank is based on isekaijoucho, i really recommend looking into her! shes my favorite vocalist- the way moimi tuned her voicebank sounds really like how isekaijoucho really sings! ive noticed some producers dont make sekai sounds like how isekai sings, which, while is fine, it still disappoints me a bit because her vocal style is so unique and beautiful!! but moimi did a wonderful job with sekai's tuning!!

WHEW THIS WAS AMAZING OKAY SO at first i thought it was a song about a woman who lost the man she loved but when i looked into the english lyrics commented by the other person i’m starting to think there’s something more twisted about it.
i actually think the woman has a one sided love with the guy And is most likely could be in a sort of arranged marriage scenario together.
with that in mind, i think her mind became more unhinged until her snapping point which is murdering her husband. the last few sentences in the lyrics from 1:57 to the end that kept implying he was “as always” obsessively indifferent to her. there’s also this part where you could vaguely make out a murder scene from 1:57 to 2:18 and it also made it seem like the guy was stunned by what she had done to him. And after all that, i think the paintings, the little “flashbacks” aren’t actually real but just made up scenarios of either “what should’ve been” Or “what they would’ve become” if she hadn’t done that (the murder).
aaand i also find the hat just sitting over there strange when the man seemed to have worn it all the damn time (i don’t know if it means anything but i like to see it that way.)
OKAY EDIT I FORGOT TO SAY THIS AS WELL. the final nail was the ending sentence which is basically her questioning if the guy no longer being around is “punishment” for what she had done in the heat of the moment. so yeah adding that one up real quick.
Interesting theory
I don't think it was one-sided love from the start, but! I do think that the woman got betrayed/cheated on by the man and killed him out of jealousy.
Perhaps they were already married to each other, and paintings are from that time, but he met someone else and lost all interest in her, getting indifferent and cold, which she wanted "to hide" from people, because at ye olden times cheating husband somehow was wife's fault in some societal circles.
The fact that "all that people saw was fake" in the beginning might tell that she maybe had a feeling that something was going wrong before actually discovering the truth, but she didn't show it and kept her composure at all times around people.
She also says "is the fruit of intellegence to blame?", where she maybe curses her ability to see through the husband's lie even tho if she was a bit dumber and didn't catch on she would've lived normally.
But since she still loved him deeply, she probably also blamed herself for not being able to keep him, and the pain of killing him in the last line is punishment for that, kinda like "now no one can have you", but in a sorrowful way.
i believe its more simple than that,
They loved each other but broke up after the man lost interest, leading to the female blaming herself and i dont think she ever killed him. She clearly holds the knife in the way it hurts HER, more than anyone else. Perhaps im reading this wrong since i have a hangover but yeah
